Naughty Boy has spread a little rumour that the song he wrote and recorded with Zayn and Emeli is possibly going to be the first single from the new album. Simon really loves it and has been talking to Naughty Boy about it. And apparently it's called 'One Chance to Dance'.

I guess it just depends what strategy they're going with. I can't really see Naughty Boy producing a big fun sing-a-long song that's up-tempo. He generally does mid/lower tempo stuff. It's getting late now to start hyping tracks up for a September release, the way SyCo usually do (pre-order, song lyrics, artwork) and one would assume that the album would be released mid November.
And then in this day and age, I don't think many big acts release just one single before the album drops. It's usually two or three.

I really hope this can be a #1, not sure how many singles they're doing pre-album (feel that we might have heard about LWWY by now two years ago?? and BSE had been released, WMYB not far off its release), so this could be their only chance as their post-album singles haven't challenged for #1 before. Need to keep up the one #1 a year streak they have going

The first single to be released from the new album FOUR is ... Steal My Girl.
For everyone outside the UK, Steal My Girl will release on 29th September.
In the UK, Steal My Girl will release 12th October. Because you guys in the UK are getting it a little bit later, Liam's made another Big Payno Remix for you. So if you're in the UK, you can pre-order a Steal My Girl bundle tomorrow, which will unleash Steal My Girl and Liam's remix on 12th October.

Think the single artwork is better than the album artwork tbh. It's brighter and I don't think it looks quite as lazy.

I like the title and the artwork! Like Jack said, I think it's the colouring which is more aesthetically appeasing. Will we first hear it on September 29th or is the première before that?
Also I think with the held-back UK release date, it's a shoe-in for a performance on the first week of live X Factor shows.

I'd already put this as their second best lead single behind What Makes You Beautiful. The other two are absolute abominations though, this era is definitely more hit so far than miss for me.

'Steal My Girl' is great on first listen. Very smart choice of lead single as it's not too far removed from their trademark anthemic sound but is also experimental and shows progression. Excited to hear more from this album based on this and 'Fireproof'.
Same! Think it might be something by Bruce Springsteen? Definitely reminds me of a particular 80's song.

He's quite dominant in the chorus though. He didn't really have any solos in 'Live While We're Young' as well.

I like it! It's an immediately catchy song and it's good that they've gone for something other than their usual pop/rock formula, especially as loads of newer acts are covering that sort of thing now.

Definitely one of their best singles, probably in their top 2 best with 'Story of My Life' for me. This mature sound really works well for them and it's great they are showing progression instead of re-making previous hits as they did with 'Live While We're Young' for example which definitely was an attempt to recreate the success of 'What Makes You Beautiful'.

On first listen, I'm liking it. Not quite up there with BSE or LWWY for me though (what's with the shade for that song?!) but it's decent. Can see it being a huge grower too!

It's virtually identical to that New Found Glory song's piano melody! Hayley Williams and the guitarist of that band have picked up on it on twitter

I was expecting and hoping they would promote their single this time as non promoted singles from the last album were flopping big time and a X Factor performance could help the song a bit in the charts.

That's true. All the fans will be jumping onto this like crazy though because they've been touring all year and it's the first thing we're able to get our hands on since the 'Midnight Memories' campaign ended some time ago. I don't think they've got anything to worry about with this single, especially seeing as it appears to have a fair bit of crossover appeal already, too.

They really did the need video to be in rotation this week I feel. Apart from Radio 1 support this song hasn't really got anything going for it. Unless they've got a TV performance lined-up this week? (Although I highly doubt it. )

I suppose they can't really help it seeing as they've been on tour almost all year and couldn't have done it any sooner unless we were to get a half-arsed 'on the road' video, but then one thing that can be said is they could have waited a bit longer to release the single and have the album out much closer to Christmas.

Received the CD single today! You're right Adam, the artwork works surprisingly well as a physical. I do think it'll take a small miracle for the 'Four' artwork to look good in any respect though.

Still, their fourth album campaign and they can still get top 3 single debuts, not bad for a boyband!

I don't think a #3 is anything to be frowned upon at all. They may be the biggest band in the world, but like Adam's said, for them to be starting their fourth campaign now and still getting singles charting so high with so much buzz around them (well, from fans, not from a promotional point of view), it's still really really good!

And WHY must they always try and make Harry the main focus when Zayn's high note solos are being done? Admittedly it's less offensive than in other videos, but there was no need for the camera to be on Harry AT ALL

I don't think it's a desperate video at all It's a great concept, all very random but it'd end up being very clichéd if it was some lovey-dovey video I think. This really better do WONDERS for the track cause it's such a good video.
The door bit is very odd though Doesn't bother me to be fair, Harry's also in that shot and I'm staring at him

And the door bit is taken from 'The Truman Show'! It's supposed to be "badly edited" because that's exactly how it appears in the film. In it the main character learns that his life and the world around him has been a lie and he's been living on the set of a movie the whole time. The door bit is a really iconic moment from there

Zayn has never looked thinner, he really needs to start filling out a bit. He's looking decidedly unattractive at the moment. Harry looks grubby. Never thought I'd see the day that Louis is looking better than those two!

It won't turn it into a million seller or anything but will absolutely help it have more longevity! Story of My Life reached a new peak with an XF performance, not sure this will but it could perhaps go top 5 again.

They need a better release strategy. I've actually grown to really like this song. Story of My Life Na Steal My Girl could have easily been number 1s if they waited until their X factor performance and AirPlay to peak. It's not good that The Saturdays have had a number 1 more recently than them lol.

I wasn't impressed with their performance on The X Factor. It was just so meh.
I'm losing some of my enthusiasm for them as an act now, because to me they've become complacent - at least their performances are giving off that vibe. The music keeps getting better but they themselves are getting worse. I don't think that performance in any way demonstrated or justified why they're as big as they are.

It struck me while watching their X Factor performance that them being there is probably more beneficial to the show than the show is to them. Obviously they'll welcome the boost to the single and pre-orders of the album that the performance is generating but they're such a big name/brand now that it almost seems like it's a major coup for producers to book them for a slot. Incredible to think they were third placed contestants on that very show four years ago!
Other than that, I agree with Jay's post entirely about it being underwhelming (but then I feel the exact same thing could have been said about Cheryl's performance minus the 'music is getting better' part!

Yeah definitely - given their status now they should be performing at major awards shows all the time, but instead they're being grounded to an annual XF performance and a few elsewhere while also touring.
The other thing about that performance is the whole thing was just so messy - they were walking around the stage bumping into each other and not knowing who was supposed to be where and when. ugh.

Their attitude against putting on a performance is getting very tiresome now. Like I understand they don't want to be doing N*Sync/JLS style dance routines (and lord knows they would look shit doing that anyway!) but I would like some sort of organisation to their live efforts. And some background dancers/visual aids really would just elevate their performances and bring a whole new freshness to it. As much as I would love to see them live, I totally agree with Jay (I think it was Jay that said it) that once you've been once, there's not a lot to draw you back year after year.

I don't think there's anything wrong with their image, teenage girls are going crazy over them regardless, they're a bit more rugged than before but I guess it kinda fits the "mature" image and sound they want.
The performance vocally was great, other than that it was a bit meh. I agree that they're quite lazy performers, they seemed to lack any kind of organisation on the stage. Would've been better if they each had a mic and mic stand and stood in a row, at least it'd be a little more planned out I can't imagine and wouldn't want them doing choreography like JLS did but they can't just wander round the stage for 4 minutes and call it "putting effort in".

The performance was lazy and the boys just looked...dirty. They all need a bit of man-on-man grooming which I'm sure we'd all appreciate a video of once completed.
Vocals-wise, Niall has really improved dramatically I think (and I'm not just saying that as my favourite, he looked awful too), good on him!

quite groovy~ what I really don't appreciate, however, is the 'she belongs to me' line coz if you replace 'girl' with like 'bike' the song would basically stay the same lolol
