Hmmm, depends on the director really... Tim Burton's vision of "Sweeney Todd" was nothing short of staggering... The film adaption of "Phantom of the Opera" however...... "Chicago" the film wasn't really such hot stuff either...
You get someone like Baz Luhrman to do this, it'll work, you get someone like Joel Shumacher, it'll die on its arse..... |

Totally agree, Phantom fans waited 15 years for a film adaption of the musical and somehow Schumacher got a hold of it and delivered an aborted fetus of a film, as usual. I've seen Mamma Mia and it's good fun, but like The Producers and Dreamgirls, I don't think a film version could really improve upon the stage musical. But I guess an optomistic way of looking at it is... the film will be good for people who don't have the means to fork over $130 to Broadway. Afterall, everyone deserves some sing-songy Abba cheese, rich and poor This post has been edited by Consie: Mar 7 2008, 06:05 PM |

God I want to resist this but I can't. Every time I see a trailer on TV I become giddy.
I really cannot wait for this!!! |

I saw this yesterday, and I have to say I really enjoyed it.
It was better than the stage show (which I actually didn't like), and Colin Firth, Meryl Streep and Julie Walters were excellent. Shame about Pierce Brosnans naff singing though It is camper then a row of pink tents so avoid if that is not your thing! |

I nearly died during this movie - at the end of Dancing Queen I actually felt the happiest I've ever felt in my life, I thought I was gonna explode!!
Such a feel good movie As always, Meryl Streep shines, and Amanda Seyfried's voice is shockingly good. The same cannot be said, however, for 007. |
