There's a summary of Slovenia's plans for their 2017 selection below, there are likely appearances from BQL, Omar Naber and Nika Zorjan who are all high profile names:
https://escxtra.com/2016/11/10/slovenia-sig...e-interest-ema/ Also it has been suggested today that EMA could be expanded to three shows which would be the first time Slovenia have had more than one show since 2012 I believe! Slovenia are one of my favourite countries despite the odd off moment - Hannah, NARODNAZABAVNI ROCK - and there's rumours Raay could be involved with a song or two! |

The Semi-Finalists have been announced.
SEMI ONE (17th February) Amaya (aka the new stage name of Maya Keuc from 2011) King Foo Lea Sirk Nika Zorjan Omar Naber (from Kyiv 2005 and seemingly every NF since) Sell Out Tosca Beat Zala Đurić Ribič SEMI TWO (18th February) Alya BQL Ina Shai Kataya & Duncan Kamakana Nuška Drašček Raiven Tim Kores Kori United Pandaz & ARSELLO feat. Alex Volasko Maja Keuc has been pretty open about the fact that she's been gunning for an MF slot after she's been living and working in Sweden for the last few years so chances are she's bringing something that didn't make the cut there. Also returning is the runner-up from last year, Raiven, who only barely lost with an artsy broken beat number (in the vein of the likes of Love Injected but not THAT good obviously) which in hindsight would've done a lot better than the limp Taylor Swift pastiche they ended up with. |

ARSELLO is an early fave in the 'ridiculous NF act names' of the 2017 season

This line-up is of Estonia-style wow-ness in terms of the number of high profile names, Finland have definitely been put to shame so far by the so-called "second tier" selections.
BQL are probably going to win the televote unless their song isn't up to scratch, it'll depend if the jury can pull an Amaya or a Nika above them when the final votes are combined. Those three are definitely the big three it seems though! Nika and BQL are also likely to have songs made by Maraaya and Amaya will presumably have an all-Swedish team so that bodes well for all three too. |

Maja's song is reportedly composed by something to do with Max Martin, presumably not him himself but some of the people he must work with. Presumably like how Wiktoria's song was from people that work with Avicii.

Amaya aka Maja Keuc has withdrawn from the selection, a replacement will be announced soon.

Did somebody say...snippets?
The three biggest names (and also the three acts who have Maraaya-penned songs, coincidentally enough) are Ayla, Nika and BQL with last year's runner up Raiven being a potential dark horse/compromise winner should there be a jury/public disagreement so the smart money's probably on one of them taking it. It should of course be noted that if BQL do win the selection then Spain is pretty much sunk.

Final running order is as follows:
1. Sell Out - Ni panike 2. Nuška Drašček - Flower in the Snow 3. Tim Kores - Open Fire 4. Nika Zorjan - Fse 5. KiNG FOO - Wild Ride 6. Omar Naber - On My Way 7. BQL - Heart of Gold 8. Raiven - Zažarim BQL really need to win this as they could give Slovenia a really good result, top half of the final I think is achievable. They also have my favourite song with Nika a close second, but I think 'Fse' isn't a jury vote winner. Slovenian juries are notorious for their questionable choices but with the new voting system, typical 50/50 split rather than the jury choosing 2 superfinalists from the 8 for a televote-only superfinal, hopefully that means they can't completely ruin a televoting favourite which BQL will be. I'm assuming it will be between Nika, Omar and BQL - not quite sure Raiven has quite the same momentum as those 3. Hopefully BQL's fanbase (most likes of all acts on Facebook, closely followed by Nika) will pull through! |

TOMORROW'S NATIONAL FINAL... SLOVENIA EMA 24th February 2017 Begins at 7pm in the UK or 8pm Central European Time and in Slovenia. Programme is scheduled to last 1 hour 55 minutes. Watch the selection via the official RTVSLO webcast. Running order 01. Sell Out - Ni panike 02. Nuška Drašček - Flower in the Snow 03. Tim Kores - Open Fire 04. Nika Zorjan - Fse 05. KiNG FOO - Wild Ride 06. Omar Naber - On My Way 07. BQL - Heart of Gold 08. Raiven - Zažarim Voting format As previously announced, the final of EMA will incorporate a new voting format. It is believed that six regional juries will each award 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 points to their favourite 6 acts. In order to make the final result a 50/50 weighting between the juries and the televote, the six televoting favourites will then be awarded 12, 24, 36, 48, 60 and 72 points. The act with the most points will then be crowned the winner! The favourites to win Judging by video views of each semi-final performance on EMA‘s official YouTube channel, male duo BQL seem to be the favourite of the public. Nika Zorjan has the second-most viewed performance, followed by Raiven and Omar Naber. While this may indicate a potential televoting result, Slovenian juries are notorious for overturning the televote results. If you think Spain were bad this year, just you wait! On all seven occasions that an EMA final has used a combined voting points system in the final, the televoting favourite has NEVER won. These all happened between 1999 and 2009 so the Slovene public will be hoping that the juries aren't so radical this time round. For more on this you should definitely read this newly published article about it, it is very interesting I promise! |

He sings it very well but juries at Eurovision won't go for this, it's from the same era as 'Color of Your Life' and this won't have the televoting support at all as it's not quite as good and Slovenia don't have a diaspora. BQL could've gone top 10!
