The Killers will release their fifth album on September and the lead single, called "The Man", will be out on June 15.

From http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-locks-in-grand-final-entertainment-nrl-close-to-confirming-its-entertainment/news-story/2c845b963f7fe866ea86506544158faa:

The band will release its first album since 2012 just 10 days before the AFL's showcase event on September 30 and have been on the league’s wishlist for some time, with rumours first circulating via 3AW Radio last month that they could be headed down under.

They are also set to release their new single "The Man" on Thursday June 15.

"The Man" (Teaser)

OH MY GOD.

OH MY GOD.

That clip caught me off guard completely! LMAO.

Excited for this!!! <3 <3

"The Man" received its WW premiere as the Hottest Record on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show today and their fifth album is called Wonderful Wonderful.

Posted by: pippa 14th June 2017, 08:03 PM

The Man sounds very promising, but why release on a Thursday. I remain 100% baffled by why artists do this release strategy.

This aside, it is wonderful news they are back with a new album and i would welcome the era to be successful and possibly add another studio number 1 album to their credit.

It's Wednesday.

Wed/Thurs releases are pretty clever strategies nowadays. They're the two days with lowest sales, so the higher up the chart they go, the higher they will be on playlists on streaming services (like New Music Friday & Hot Hits) and they'll be high for when the new charting week starts.

---

This song is gonna take some getting used to for me. I like it, but it's a bit too erratic/chaotic for me on first listen! SO GOOD hearing his voice again though wub.gif wub.gif and I really do appreciate the switch up in sound from the MOR soft rock they ended up doing (as much as I loved it!!)

Posted by: Liаm 15th June 2017, 02:47 PM

I can't decide if The Man is a 9/10 or like a 3/10 lmao

Posted by: Regina 15th June 2017, 02:55 PM

This is awful. They've lost their way.

This is me currently lmao! I LOVE how "different" it is and some elements to it are the makings of a great song, but I think it's missing the charm slightly for me as it's too over produced, I feel. Still trying to get used to it!

Posted by: pippa 20th June 2017, 02:22 PM

It isnt doing so well for them, its sitting just outside the top 75 in the midweek chart.

Posted by: Jonjo 26th June 2017, 11:09 AM

Just watching their surprise Galstonbury set!

SO MANY CHILLS!!! I NEED TO SEE THEM AGAIN!!

Posted by: liamk97 4th July 2017, 02:02 PM

I can't quite put my finger on who this song's production sounds like - perhaps a little Tame Impala? I get the criticism of not being sure whether it's really good or a bit meh; personally I think it is a very good song but, in regards to it being a song by The Killers, it does feel like there's something missing. Like Jonjo said, perhaps it is a little too over-produced?

Great video though, specifically Brandon in a vest.

Posted by: Tyler 31st July 2017, 11:53 AM

Ok. Well, 'The Man' is officially 10/10 for me. Digging the hell out of it recently.

It's massively grown on me tbh. Such a great song!

Posted by: Tyler 2nd August 2017, 02:45 AM

Most of their songs have to grow on me! This was pretty instant though! It's a fantastic track for cardio AND weight training. It's a big deal. This and Work Bitch are my go to "God this sucks but this song will motivate me to finish" tracks.

Posted by: Steve201 5th August 2017, 08:54 AM

Surprised you didn't like it to start Jonjo - it was instant for me!

Yes wub.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 9th August 2017, 06:48 PM

RFC is genuinely one of my fave songs of the year. So brilliant! Would love to witness that one live!

Posted by: Liаm 9th August 2017, 10:45 PM

Run For Cover is much more like it wub.gif It has that epic feel a lot of Killers often do, The Man still needs time for me I think. It's slowly getting there for me but not in the way I'd like it to sad.gif

Title track 'Wonderful Wonderful' is out tomorrow.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 27th August 2017, 10:08 AM

'The Man' is the best thing they have done in a LONG time! wub.gif I love it.

Posted by: Steve201 27th August 2017, 10:39 AM

Anyone know what the official second single is?

Posted by: dandy* 27th August 2017, 07:56 PM

Is it not Run For Cover then?

Posted by: Steve201 27th August 2017, 08:18 PM

I thought that but there's nothing on radio playlists yet and there's a fair few other instant grats on the go!

Posted by: Jonjo 27th August 2017, 08:27 PM

I assumed it was RFC due to it getting a video and I think a performance or two on some US shows. (Might be wrong with that haha)

'Wonderful, Wonderful' is decent. I like it, it's just I'm so besotted with RFC right now 😍😍😍

Posted by: Steve201 29th August 2017, 08:36 PM

Hopefully radio 1 adds the next single in the next few weeks after supporting The Man - albums out in 4 weeks - eek!!

Posted by: Jonjo 29th August 2017, 09:04 PM

I've seen more hype for this album than I did for 'Battle Born' which is a good sign! 'The Man' seems to have quite a cult-like following.

Excited for the album!

Posted by: M4NG0 30th August 2017, 12:35 PM

I've seen an impact date for 'Run For Cover' so I think it's pretty safe to assume it's the second single. Hopefully Radio 1 will playlist it.

Posted by: pippa 31st August 2017, 06:48 PM

The Man is managed a reasonable amount of weeks on the iTunes chart, so there remains some interest for singles from them. Run For Cover in my opinion is a stronger single, i would hope it can make the top 100 for them.

I would think Radio 1 will playlist the 'Run For Cover'/the second single. The Man made A List and spent a reasonable amount of weeks on the playlist, so it's safe to assume they'll be on board with the next track.

Posted by: THEO. 4th September 2017, 04:03 PM

"Run for Cover" is Greg James's Tune of the Week, expect a Radio 1 playlisting on Friday biggrin.gif It's really growing on me, I much prefer it to "The Man". Looking forward to their album now, Battle Born was really disappointing but "Shot at the Night" was such a tune!

Posted by: Jonjo 16th September 2017, 07:06 AM

The last GRAT is the weakest of the 4, but it's still very good! This album is gonna be great!

ALBUM COVER

And to think I can clearly remember mr Brightside being a huge summer hit! mellow.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 21st September 2017, 11:54 PM

This album is really good! I'm looking forward to listening to it more, so I can pick out favourites! But overall, I'm ecstatic with it!

Posted by: Dexton 23rd September 2017, 03:27 AM

I'm really enjoying this so far, much more than I did Battle Born! Can't beat the singles though, The Man & Run For Cover are clearly on a level above most of the rest of the album. Out Of My Mind & The Calling are also really really great wub.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 27th September 2017, 03:30 PM

This album is really good. 'The Man' has really grown on me to the point it's actually one of my fave singles by them. It's so anthemic and the meaning behind the song is so cute! Some Kind of Love has grown on me big time too. However, I'd have preferred it as a closer I think!

My album ranking is as follows:

08.0 Wonderful Wonderful
10.0 The Man
07.5 The Rut
08.0 Life To Come
11.0 Run For Cover
10.0 Tyson vs. Douglas
08.5 Some Kind of Love
07.5 Out of My Mind
08.0 The Calling
07.0 Have All the Songs Been Written?
07.0 Money On Straight

Not a single skip-worthy song. I imagine 'The Rut' and 'Tyson vs. Douglas' will be singles/receive videos at least, at some point.

Posted by: liamk97 27th September 2017, 05:12 PM

'The Rut' has been appearing on some new music playlists which could possibly be a sign of it being a future single.

Posted by: Dexton 1st October 2017, 02:57 AM

The Killers played a bunch of their hits & I think The Man at the Australian Football League (AFL) Grand Final yesterday, I watched some of their performance on TV and it looked amazing wub.gif Their show was well received too, with a load of their songs entering the Australian iTunes Top 100

03. Mr Brightside (and 71)
24. The Man
25. Somebody Told Me
29. When You Were Young (and 94)
46. Human
59. Run For Cover

This sort of promotion will be wonders for both them as a band and the album, which debuted at #1 on the ARIA Album Chart.

Posted by: SevenSeize 4th November 2017, 04:08 PM

idk why it took me so long but I love Run For Cover now

Posted by: Steve201 5th November 2017, 09:25 PM

It's a great track!

Posted by: liamk97 15th November 2017, 02:20 AM

Has anyone been to see them this month? I went tonight! So many great songs - 'The Man' has secured its status alongside their classics, 'All These Things That I've Done' was fantastic with the "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" chant, and 'Mr Brightside' was such a f***ing moment!!

Posted by: Jonjo 15th November 2017, 11:37 PM

Too poor to do it this time sad.gif But I'm deffo going next time. They are still yet to be beaten for me heart.gif

So glad you had a great time! They always know what works in a show. Everything comes alive and I think it's why I love 'Battle Born' so much more than the standard Killers fan does tbh.

Not yet. It doesn’t normally come out until the beginning of December anyway! I hope it’s a really good one this year!

Posted by: Steve201 16th November 2017, 10:41 PM

Yeh last year was a nice affair but more like a story than a song!

Posted by: Dexton 27th November 2017, 03:07 AM

I think the xmas song will be out this Friday! biggrin.gif

Posted by: ChristmasEve201 27th November 2017, 08:30 PM

Do you know or think?

Posted by: THEO. 27th November 2017, 10:44 PM

Well World Aids Day is on Thursday and music releases are generally released on a Friday. So it'll be out on either day.

I wish I'd got tickets for their current tour although I don't really like the majority of the current album, their back catalogue is incredible. "The Man" is amongst their worst singles to date for me, I wish they'd stop promoting it in the UK and move on!

Posted by: ManicKangaroo 28th November 2017, 12:38 AM

Don't expect a Christmas song this year

Back in September they said

Currently in Australia to perform at the AFL Grand Final, The Killers have revealed they are stepping away from the “Christmas song game”, after releasing an album of Yuletide tracks last year.

Speaking on Channel 10‘s The Project last night, frontman Brandon Flowers said, “We are finished with the Christmas song game, but we’re proud of what we did. We did 11 songs.”

Flowers said that while the band won’t be releasing any more Christmas music, they’ve planning on releasing their one (and only) Christmas album Don’t Waste Your Wishes on vinyl at some point.

“We didn’t release it on vinyl. We’re looking forward to doing a release of that on vinyl,” he said.

Ack that's sad as I usually love adding their track to my playlist each year - won't be the same. Looking forward to the vinyl release!!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 30th December 2017, 06:38 PM

I have had the time over Christmas to listen to the album properly.

I am really impressed with the album, its very solid and full of great catchy songs.

Life To Come is the stand out song for me but i really cant say there is any weak songs on the album.

Wonderful Wonderful is much much stronger and more together than Battle Born and Brandons last solo album.

I really liked Shot at the Night which was part of the Direct Hits release and for me Wonderful Wonderful has followed on from that sound which i love.

'The Desired Effect' is fantastic! The first album is so good too, but you can tell it was just an album The Killers were gonna record had the others not wanted to go for a break. TDE seems more like what Brandon would release.

Posted by: T Boy 31st December 2017, 10:43 AM

The Desired Effect was amazing. Flamingo is good too but the second album really was so much better.

I’m also enjoy Wonderful, Wonderful. So many of my faves released albums over the past four months, I’m still getting into them all.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 7th January 2018, 04:18 PM

Wonderful Wonderful is a real grower of an album.

Back in the hey day so many songs of this album would have been hits.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 25th June 2018, 03:27 PM

Seeing The Killers live yesterday was easily one of the best experiences of my life!

The crowd were amazing, and I was pretty much right at the front. biggrin.gif

They were in Swansea Saturday night. Gutted I missed out on getting tickets cry.gif

Posted by: Dexton 28th June 2018, 12:19 PM

I’d love for them to properly push Tyson vs Douglas, I thought it was sent to radio somewhere late last year but nothings come from it since :/ The Calling would be nice too

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 24th August 2018, 11:29 AM

The video for the next single Wonderful Wonderful has been released!

Posted by: Dexton 24th August 2018, 01:19 PM

Great song but a weird single choice ;p

Posted by: Steve201 24th August 2018, 07:09 PM

The last single was like Christmas was it not? Nice to see another release tho!

Posted by: gavindeejay 26th August 2018, 11:14 AM

Wow! Thought they’d given up on releasing singles for this era already! It’s a good song as an album track but not going to get much radio play sadly.

Posted by: CRAZY-HORSE 22nd January 2019, 12:38 PM

I own all of The Killers' albums plus Flowers' solo albums...

its my least favourite of all their albums but I still like it
