BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Troye Sivan - My My My!

Posted by: Jonjo Jan 5 2018, 10:46 PM

Troye has announced that he has new music coming to Spotify in just 6 Days!!

Whether it's a single or whether he's gonna drop the whole album, I don't know. I imagine it's the single. But either way... SO EXCITED!!

Posted by: JosephStyles Jan 6 2018, 12:30 AM

I am so f***ing excited, next Thursday can't come soon enough!!!!!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Jan 6 2018, 12:40 AM

I loved some of his past stuff (and I'd actually marry him, to be fair).

Posted by: Bjork Jan 6 2018, 08:51 AM

Youth should have been a big hit!!

Posted by: HausAlone Jan 6 2018, 10:18 AM

The male artist I am most excited about hearing music from. Not just the single, he's much more an album artist but here for ANYTHING.

Posted by: John-James Jan 6 2018, 02:19 PM

I'm so excited!! I'm in NYC next Saturday so I hope he is out promoting kink.gif

Posted by: TMD_24Quavo Jan 6 2018, 06:57 PM

It's called My My My.

Posted by: Jonjo Jan 6 2018, 07:06 PM

Obviously it's just the title, but that title is awful laugh.gif

Posted by: HausAlone Jan 6 2018, 07:08 PM

oh MY MY MY god I am so excited help me

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Jan 6 2018, 07:12 PM

I have this stuck in my head now I've seen that title:

Posted by: CodyOfTheWoods Jan 6 2018, 07:20 PM

Watch the song be much better than the title makes it out to be. Remember Ciao Adios?

I hope it's much better than that average barf!

Do we know who's producing it yet? Or anything other than the title?

Troye, Oscar Görres (OzGo), James Ghaleb and Leland are the producers. Grant Singer has directed the video. He has produced the music videos for Green Light/Perfect Places (Lorde), Let Me Love You (Ariana Grande), IDWLF (Zaylor) and Starboy/The Hills. (The Weeknd)

Posted by: Midge Jan 6 2018, 09:37 PM

New collaborators then other than Leland... doesn't look like OzGo has had any hits with anyone else although has written with/for a lot of artists in the past decade, looks like Ghaleb has worked with DNCE and Maroon 5, but Leland did work with Troye on "Talk Me Down" ( wub.gif ), "Youth" and a few other tracks from "Blue Neighbourhood" so that should help some continuity... worried about the Maroon 5 "Red Pill Blues" links though with OzGo and Ghaleb :/

Posted by: Jüpiter Jan 6 2018, 10:39 PM

For a minute I was worryingly reminded of the Duffy song Well Well Well...

Posted by: JosephStyles Jan 8 2018, 10:31 AM

Out at 5am UK time on Thursday biggrin.gif

Posted by: Joe. Jan 8 2018, 02:50 PM

I am so ready for the single of the year.

Posted by: Jack Jan 8 2018, 03:00 PM

I'm really hoping he doesn't do a Halsey and sell out completely.

Not huge on the artwork but STILL HERE FOR THIS ALL !!!!

Posted by: BridgeCow Jan 8 2018, 07:35 PM

kinda really like that artwork tbh

Posted by: JosephStyles Jan 8 2018, 07:39 PM

The font placement mucks up the artwork for me but I love the photo!!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Jan 8 2018, 10:58 PM

Really willing him to have his first proper BIG hit!

Posted by: ElectroBoy Jan 9 2018, 08:02 PM

Excited for this!

The teaser sounds like this song is gonna be a BANGER. Can't wait to hear it tomorrow!

Posted by: Joe. Jan 10 2018, 09:22 AM

Isn't that teaser the music being played backwards?

Posted by: HausAlone Jan 11 2018, 07:07 AM

IT'S EVERYTHING I WANTED IT TO BE.

SENSATIONAL.

Oh my!

Posted by: Joe. Jan 11 2018, 07:23 AM

Oh my my my we have a bop!

My baby is back. xo

Posted by: HausAlone Jan 11 2018, 07:53 AM

The chorus is so effortlessly massive. And we're all here for a middle-8 that builds and explodes into a final chorus MOMENT. I love everything about the song.

Posted by: JosephStyles Jan 11 2018, 07:58 AM

My My My weave is gone

Perfect, everything I wanted and more, he can do no wrong wub.gif 💙💙💙

Posted by: HarryEzra Jan 11 2018, 08:07 AM

Very instant wub.gif

Posted by: ElectroBoy Jan 11 2018, 08:12 AM

Tune!

Posted by: Bjork Jan 11 2018, 08:32 AM

great! very troye-esque but different at the same time
that's a good comeback (unlike justin t)

Posted by: John-James Jan 11 2018, 08:53 AM

Love it! King!!

Posted by: blacksquare Jan 11 2018, 09:20 AM

Bopping

Posted by: Midge Jan 11 2018, 10:03 AM

Quite like this on first listen, can tell it's gonna grow to be a song I love. I like how it feels like an evolution from "Blue Neighbourhood" and not something completely different.

Posted by: BridgeCow Jan 11 2018, 10:51 AM

Wowww this is a bop

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Jan 11 2018, 10:59 AM

It's fabulous! wub.gif

Posted by: Joe. Jan 11 2018, 11:16 AM

Already on Hot Hits UK! HIT INCOMING.

Posted by: Midge Jan 11 2018, 11:20 AM

Like with the JT single but in a different way, I do feel this is another great example of EXACTLY what we need right now. 2018 is going to be the year that music reignited I think.

Posted by: Jonjo Jan 11 2018, 11:22 AM

That is great. So instant and it feels very Troye, with progression. He's really special.

Posted by: Styles Bilinski Jan 11 2018, 11:30 AM

This goes OFF

Only need one play of that chorus to be completely sold wub.gif

Posted by: TheGrinch Jan 11 2018, 12:15 PM

Oh my oh my oh my

Ain’t my fault this song is bad x

Posted by: Cameron Jan 11 2018, 02:10 PM

Not massive on the verses yet but liking the chorus. Why is this reminding me of Sledgehammer by Fifth Harmony?

Posted by: Dexton Jan 11 2018, 02:31 PM

I quite like this and I'll be really happy if this is what gives Troye his first UK hit (not including There For You) but it is inferior to most of Blue Neighbourhood still sad.gif I know it's hard to top the likes of Wild or Youth, but this is kind of just more of the same from Troye. I've love another Happy Little Pill (a personal favourite, even if it's not his actual best) laugh.gif

Posted by: Liаm Jan 11 2018, 03:57 PM

Dull as ever from him :/ I will never get the fuss around him.

Posted by: cqmerqnita Jan 11 2018, 05:17 PM

Posted by: HausAlone Jan 11 2018, 05:24 PM

I think my criticism of the song is that (from what I infer on my first few listens), it doesn't have the subtext or multiple meanings that songs off BN had (LOST BOY, Heaven, TALK ME DOWN etc). It's nice lyrically, but they don't have the beautiful explorations of identity that flew through the last album. I hope wherever this album goes, it does bring some of that back into it but until then I cannot get enough of this. So exciting and fast paced and energetic. Give me this over the MOR of the charts and even the Urban stuff that is everywhere right now. It's REFRESHING.

Posted by: Bjork Jan 11 2018, 06:04 PM

it's a celebration song, not all songs have to be about finding his identity

My My My! is a song of liberation, freedom and love. Throw all inhibition to the wind, be present in your body, love wholeheartedly, move the way you’ve always wanted to, and dance the way you feel- hopefully to this song!

Ahh I know, I didn't say they do. I was just comparing it to his earlier material which is natural when an artist you adore releases a new song? At least for me too.

Your description does add new light onto it though wub.gif

Posted by: Parallel Reality Jan 11 2018, 09:24 PM

I am a Troye fan but I find this a bit repetitive. Maybe it’ll grow on me.

Posted by: Jade Jan 12 2018, 02:41 AM

I loved 'Happy Little Pill' and the 'Blue Neighbourhood' album so I had high expectations for this... it has not disappointed! It's very instant as a lot of you have touched upon. The production on his songs always slays me so much. Looking forward to more *.*

(the low-pitched "oh my my my" parts instantly reminded me of the similarly low-pitched "my, my, my, my" part of Ed Sheeran's 'Give Me Love', my favourite Ed song!)

((buzzcut? teeth? in the same line?! how very Lorde of him lyrically kink.gif))

Posted by: Sugarplumberella Jan 12 2018, 05:13 AM

i mean it's well put together... but i just feel like it has been SO done already (and with a lot more charm) on the likes of st. lucia's 'elevate' etc. it's not bad by any means but it's not much different than a lot of stuff we've had.

i really cannot go this thing of monotonous soft-spoken singing / rapping etc. as a sonic trend, it comes across more lazy than endearing to me and i think it actually strips the song of the necessary power / variation it would need to stay afloat.

Posted by: Sugarplumberella Jan 12 2018, 05:15 AM

i do have to commend him tho as an artist because you DO completely forget his roots lie as a YouTuber.

Posted by: Bré Jan 12 2018, 05:49 PM

This is decent, he had better songs before. Struggling to comprehend what is exciting people so much about this?? Lol

Basically agree with what Leww said. x

Posted by: jjake Jan 13 2018, 08:36 PM

i actually love this, tho i do love st lucia so no surprise :’)

Posted by: Bjork Jan 14 2018, 09:36 AM

I was listening now to some of his old songs and it's crazy he's neevr had a hit before
Youth, Wild, Talk me Down are all a 10/10, with Youth being an 11/10 wink.gif I blame lack of airplay

Posted by: RobBob Jan 16 2018, 03:24 AM

I’ve been pretty vocally non plussed about Troye in the past, I’ve often found his songs to lack much “oomph” and a bit one note (or monotonous as Leww described it and I’m glad to finally see I’m not alone in this feeling) but then dark pop has never been my ~thing.

THIS HOWEVER. THIS. Can’t get enough of it, absolutely everything I would have wanted Years & Years to return with. It has all the oomph and excitement I’ve found him lacking into a real euphoric pop track. The video definitely helped to elevate it aswell, ever since watching it, I’ve been gayly mincing to and from work with a spring in my step because of it.

More of THIS pls x

I can't help but feel that re-entries from the Cranberries are going to deny Troye going top 40

I'm quite sure they won't, bear in mind the Cranberries tracks will only have half a week and will be on ACR.

Posted by: Jay ☆ Jan 16 2018, 01:27 PM

Love at first listen! heart.gif The chorus is such a huge moment, really euphoric. Yaaas! More of these bops please, Troye. *.*

Really pleased that it's shaping up to be a hit. wub.gif

Oh and the video!! He's really feeling himself, love how much more confident he seems this time around. It's a real turning point in his artistry, he comes across as a star.
