What a weird week for the US Box office with almost nothing dropping week-on-week but there was pretty much no new releases so I guess the people of America had to go and see something. A lot of films capitalised on the lack of competition by increasing the number of cinemas they're showing in.

Cars 3 added loads of theatres this week in the US and increased 936% week-on-week laugh.gif That means it overtakes the worldwide total of The Good Dinosaur so it is no longer Pixar's biggest flop!

Wonder Woman also had a week-on-week boost meaning it has now overtaken the US total of Civil War! What a success, I bet nobody would have predicted it beating out what is basically Avengers 2.5 ohmy.gif

It has been revealed that Colin Trevorrow (of Jurassic World) will no longer be directing Episode 9 of Star Wars. Seems Disney are having a few directing problems at the moment after they not long got rid of the Han Solo directors ohmy.gif

Also, the first official image of Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury in the upcoming biopic about his life:

I saw this on Reddit earlier today and thought it was quite interesting. Sully looked so different in early production ohmy.gif

It has had a $51m opening day in America ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

The film has already broken these records!:
- Largest Thursday Previews for a Horror
- Largest Thursday Previews for a R-rated film
- Largest Thursday Previews for a September film
- Largest Friday for a September film
- Largest amount of locations for a R-Rated film
- Largest September Opening Weekend (Hotel Transylvania 2 did 48.5m so its broken the weekend record in one day!)

also its opening day is only 1.5m shy of the largest three day opening ever for an R-rated horror movie (Paranormal Activity 3 - 52.5m) and is just shy of the Fall opening weekend record as well (Gravity - 55.8m)
