I think I'm officially a Sam smith fan! I've loved everything from this era (apart from that camp cover they did).

I can’t work out how they had so much crap on the first couple of albums, and yet they can now come out with this great stuff!!

It took maybe three listens but Diamonds is absolutely fabulous. I almost wish it went a little harder with some of the sparkly synths that pop up in the chorus, just to bring the imagery of the title to life sonically. Great song though, hoping for a hit - they need one.
Quite excited about Another One, the track in the album trailer. Sounds like a smash and it's written by Noonie Bao so you know it's gonna DO THAT. |

Omg how difficult is it for people to get their pronouns right? Omg In all fairness not everybody will get it right all the time. I still sometimes make the mistake of using the wrong pronoun. Plus not everyone reads about Sam being non-binary so just by looking at them, anyone not in the know would label them a 'him'. But anyway, that's going a bit off-topic. Diamonds is definitely a step up from the past 4 singles. I can't say I'm in love with anything from this era. I'm Not The Only One is still my favourite Sam song - including Sam's features, that title would go to 'Promises' and 'Latch'. |

Diamonds has really grown on me! Think the duet with Demi had ruined the excitement for his album a bit but more optimistic now. Want some big pop choruses.

Hmmm not totally clicked on this one. I don't dislike it but I don't feel inclined to play it again tbh. Nowhere near as good as How do you sleep or Dancing with a stranger. I do like Sam more uptempo than ballady though I have to say, really suits them.

This is going to underperform too isn’t it? With so many that Sam been dropping left and right, I think the GP doesn’t even know what’s a single and what’s a random drop by them anymore, my oasis should NOT have been released before Diamonds cause now it seems people are just bothering with the single Especially with the album around the corner. |

There's plenty of time for Diamonds to grow into a hit. It's had a solid start. Some promo would be good though - Graham Norton performance slot or something.

I’m so sad that this is flopping a bit. #22 is decent, but no where near high enough for a song as good as this.
We all know why their popularity has decreased and it’s depressing. |

I would contest that their absolute refusal to do promotion and to perform on TV might have something to do with it.
We can blame anti-LGBTQ+ attitudes but there's no particular evidence for that and the far more likely answer is that Sam, specifically known for their voice, never actually showcases it in a promotional setting. Look at how performance promo pays off for artists like Miley when a song needs a push - Sam is not out there doing that, is not visible at all from the moment a song drops. |

They literally had two top ten hits last year, and every Love Goes Single has at least reached top 30, compared to their last era... This post has been edited by Yog: 6th October 2020, 04:24 AM |
