I feel like doing a written EOY now I've finished my songs lists so I hope you'll join me on my countdown.

This is a top 86 because I'll have seen 86 after I watch Foxcatcher sometime soon and I don't think there's much else that appeals to me that I'll watch, I may try and make it to 90 though. I'm a big blockbuster fan so don't be surprised to see dramas drop out quickly and Pixels be #1 or something laugh.gif

Or maybe I spoke too soon, Foxcatcher is really, really boring so far despite some good performances. The unexpected slap made for an exciting moment and still have half an hour left on it so it might start picking up now.

Going to try and watch Love & Mercy, Ricki and the Flash, Straight Outta Compton and maybe one more movie to get to 90 as well over the weekend.

Hoping 'Kingsman' & 'Avengers: Age Of Ultron' put in a decent performance (i.e. top half!)

I'll leave a list in the OP from now on!

91. By the Sea - I was fairly excited for this going in because the trailers looked fairly intriguing and all the posters were gorgeous but it did end up a little disappointing. The storyline was pretty interesting ONCE it finally got going but really the film was just very beautiful but boring moody shots of our two leads. It's a shame it didn't pick up sooner because it had a lot of promise but I was checking my watch a few times.

92. Cake - I do think Jennifer Aniston really showed off how good she can be in this but really that's all the good things I have to say about this. It was just a weird plot with odd Anna Kendrick parts and lots of boring scenes. I liked the ending where she finally was able to sit up in the car but it all seemed like it took too long to end.

93. Bill - I've always been a fan of Horrible Histories because it teaches you things in a fun and engaging way. This sort of just kept the fun bit whilst completely making up a fictional tale of William Shakespeare's life. Now that I've sort of outgrown the comedic aspect to HH, I feel like not much was really left to take from this seeing as none of it was true and there was no witty musical numbers either. I enjoyed it but it just had way less charm than I was expecting.

94. Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 - From what I remember from 10 year old me, I really enjoyed the first one of this but I feel like now my humour has outgrown people falling over and laughing etc. It was nice to see more of Raini Rodriguez because she's very likeable and David Henrie of course as always *-* but it just didn't really make me laugh at all and therefore dragged a bit much. I do remember liking some sort of joke at the end with a horse or something though! tongue.gif

95. Enemy - This actually started off with a really interesting concept and I was really into it when he was finding his doppelgänger in the back of films and stuff but it just really lost me when they started meeting up. There was really no differentiation between the two characters at all so I was always just lost with who I was even watching, I thought the scene where apparently the doppelgänger tries to sleep with the other's girlfriend was actually her boyfriend and she just wasn't into it that night until I realised in the end. Then it just turned into this weird revenge plot and a big spider to finish off. What?

96. Fantastic Four - I was so hyped for this movie going in because I love how camp the two from the noughties are and I wanted this to be similar. The trailers looked a bit dark but I maintained optimism because I love the characters and their set of powers anyway. What a major disappointment. I sat through half the film of pure dialogue for them to get powers, test them for a quick montage, then more dialogue then a quick anti-climactic fight at the end. It really only got going when Dr Doom was walking down the corridor and blowing people's heads off and that was in the last 10 minutes so it's a shame I had to sit through the rest really.

97. 45 Years - So here it is, my least favourite movie of 2015. This wasn't on my radar at all really because I was never expecting Charlotte Rampling to actually get the nomination but once she did I was excited to find something new from Oscars season that I hadn't seen already. By the third lengthy shot of her walking her dog, I realised this movie was an absolute dud. It was really, really boring and just consisted of people going about their day to day lives for the most part, and there's a quite sad scene in a loft and then more walking dogs but together this time and then a nice party and nice shuffle in a circle dance with a final quivering face shot to top it all off. By that time I'd almost snoozed off because I didn't care about the characters at all and kind of didn't even like Rampling's character. Maybe I missed something important in the endless pouring a cup of water or walking in a field scenes that I admittedly sped up. I do think the actors did a great job of staying in character for such long shots but for me Tom Courtenay was the only good thing in the movie!

Need to check most of those out! Of the ones I've seen:

Fantastic Four was crap but I liked the cast, shame the production turned into such a mess on what could've been a good movie sad.gif
Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 was horrific, couldn't get passed 45 minutes of the torture sick2.gif
And Enemy is in my bottom 2 for 2015, utterly horrific and confusing movie that was boring and long and that random spider thing at the end was so weird confusing and dreadful sick2.gif

Good to see no movies I loved very very low here!

The only two I've seen from the list so far are:

95. Enemy
96. Fantastic Four

Agreed completely with your write-ups on those two! 'Enemy' had SO MUCH potential, but just ended up being a big, horrid, weird mess! The thing at the end with the spider was completely random and pointless (unless I'd missed something?) The less said about 'Fantastic 4' the better I think. Everything about it was SO promising. But production did indeed f*** it all up! sad.gif

Glad something stopped Fantastic Four from being bottom kink.gif I quite enjoyed it without having seen the previous movies to compare it to.

Cake was really weird, especially the Anna Kendrick parts (and not in a good way like "The Voices", there's a movie I'd recommend), I'd forgotten she was even in it and definitely the weakest of the 5 movies I saw her in last year (don't know if any other actor matches that)

Think you must be one of the few people to have that opinion, nothing I've seen in years was worse than 45 Years though so nothing else could be bottom really. You should really watch the previous movies though, they're so campy and fun laugh.gif

The Anna Kendrick parts really just distracted me in Cake, it was all just so weird. The Voices is somewhere on my watchlist actually, was gonna rent it for 99p on iTunes when it was on offer but missed me chance, will definitely watch it one day though. I only saw her in Into the Woods and Pitch Perfect 2 other than this but those are still a little way off yet.
Thank you Jack biggrin.gif

Rather you need to keep this at the bottom of your 'must check out' list! tongue.gif

I liked the cast of FF too, Miles Teller especially who put in another solid performance.
Paul Blart was pretty bad but it was short so I didn't mind sitting through it really, it never really dragged for me, it just wasn't funny at all.
I never really got that bored in Enemy tbh because it was quite short, I just became so utterly confused and got nothing out of it in the end. Apparently there's a few explanation videos on YouTube but I just don't care enough tbh laugh.gif

Thank you UV, hopefully nothing you actually do love is too low!

Like you say, it was such an interesting concept and started really well but just got so confusing, the spider scared me too which just made it worse tongue.gif
The FF characters are so good so I can't believe they sucked all the life from them, I had more faith in Josh Trank after Chronicle was pretty good too sad.gif
Thank you Jonjo!

I agree with you there, Jennifer Aniston was really good and shame she got nominated for no high-profile awards for it. The film itself was just a bit too boring and odd for me to really enjoy it properly though :/

86. In the Heart of the Sea - I had this as one of my most hyped movies of the second half of 2015 but it was really disappointing. The trailers made the whale attack seem so spectacular when in the actual film it got a couple minutes of screentime and the rest was boring and very difficult to understand dialogue.
The only really interesting parts were when the whale just kept on coming back even though they'd been stranded on an island for like a month laugh.gif and the survival parts but they were cut too short in my opinion. Didn't like the Moby Dick parts either because they just weren't interesting enough to justify being put in there and wasting more of my time :/

87. Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie - This was one that I was not expecting to dislike so much, it didn't look fantastic but it looked charming but in the end that was pretty much all it had going for it. For a children's film, I was shocked at how boring it was, don't think I've ever checked my watch in a 90 minute movie before but there's a first time for everything. The Snoopy riding on a shed had me rolling my eyes every time it came on screen, so boring and just distracted from the OK storyline going on with Charlie's infatuation. It seemed aimed at a younger audience and there wasn't really any clever or inventive jokes, the only thing that really made me smirk was his sister making merchandise but only because it was cute rather than the funny. For me, it was just too uneventful and I didn't care enough about the characters.

88. Macbeth - The cinematography in this was beautiful and really worthy of some awards recognition on that front, all the hazey battefield shots were my favourite. The film itself was just a bit long, I had just come back from analysing the play to bits for me English Literature GCSE and still had problems understanding some parts and it just didn't feel as exciting as the play or even Roman Polanski's 1971 film which we watched in class. The performances were also very good and I love Marion Cotillard's take on Lady Macbeth which was a bit different to how she's usually portrayed and was worthy of supporting actress nominations in my opinion.

89. Black Mass - This movie was only really great because of one hell of a performance, Johnny Depp is PETRIFYING in this, you never know if he's joking or about to kill a character in a split second, I suppose a lot of that is down to the way he was written but Depp was really good here, so shocked he missed out on nominations at all the major awards. My real problem with this was just the sheer amount of random characters and faces that popped up and I just didn't have a clue who each of them were and why there were in trouble or in Whitey's clique which just left me so confused and therefore not really able to enjoy the plot itself.

90. Foxcatcher - This was probably the slowest movie I watched in 2015, I sat through so many talking about nothing scenes and boring wrestling training scenes with horrible squeaky trainer noises to make it worse but the pay off really was massive at the end. They really get you attached to the brothers and their families and really weary of Steve Carrell's character despite not doing anything wrong and it all clicks when that explosive moment happens at the end. The ending was insanely good but I can't say it was worth sitting through over an hour and a half of boredom to get there. Steve Carrell was really amazing in this, a massive highlight and now even seeing his face on the poster unnerves me. Mark Ruffalo was excellent as always too.

Good that thing is out in 86th, one of the worst movies of all time. Will probably tear it apart again when I get round to my countdown.

But The Peanuts Movie cry.gif cry.gif That's one of my favourites of 2015, such an imaginative animation with a really cute storyline and characters, adored it heart.gif Black Mass was also quite good!

Excited to see your write-up on ITHOTS, you do seem to really hate it laugh.gif for me it did have some promising moments but just too long and boring really...

Peanuts Movie was cute in places but just so boring, find it hard to believe kids sat through it all! I did like the animation a lot too now you mention it and it worked really for the majority but it was a bit jarring in bits when he was flying a kite and none of the trees were moving laugh.gif

Thanks UV!

I kind of agree that 89 does seem a bit high but then I don't know what else would go ahead of it from the previous dropouts really. The acting was so good in it and carried it better than in the other films.

81. Dope - This was getting good reviews in a lot of places I'd seen online so I thought it'd be a good comedy. It took me a while to realise it wasn't a laugh out loud comedy so I was just sort of disappointed with the fairly standard storyline although I did at least laugh once in the whole film. The three leads were all very good though, hope they all go on to big things, especially Kiersey Clemons who was my personal favourite. I suppose I was just disappointed because I was ready for a laugh and something else but yeah, it was OK. I did like the bit of social commentary at the end too with the university thing.

82. Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water - Never really been a fan of Spongebob as a TV show but I was kind of excited when I saw all the promotion and realised they were giving it a bit of a modern re-vamp. Much to my disappointment, the majority of the film was in traditional 2D. I've never really got the humour of the show so I just felt like I was watching a lengthy episode which wasn't that enjoyable. It did pick up a little in 3D because it felt more modern but the villain was just so childish and basic and there were like no actually good jokes in the last act either really. I liked it all when they became superheroes though and the dolphin was another highlight of mine. Much like Bill that has already dropped out, it just felt a bit too TV film apart from the last act to compete with the films yet to come.

83. Seventh Son - I'd not heard of this either before it popped up on Sky Movies last week but I love a good fantasy film and the cast looked really stellar so I thought it'd be quite good. I did kind of enjoy it but so many things annoyed me and I can't really overlook just how badly made it was. Jeff Bridges was abysmal, not a clue what he was even trying to do but his accent was weird, none of his jokes landed and he was just really unlikeable. Julianne Moore was properly hamming it up and being a bit over the top textbook villain in many scenes but I'll forgive her because she's Julianne Moore. The lead boy was unlikeable too and I didn't even want to follow his story. Alicia Vikander was good and brought quite a bit of emotion to her role I think but this film needed a lot more to be saved. The CGI was pretty shoddy too although I did enjoy the end when all the plots tied up nicely enough, a semi-enjoyable film but just too bad to be higher than this.

84. Playing It Cool - The first I'd heard of this was on Sky Movies and I thought from the poster alone it must have been some mid-noughties rom-com and then I realised it was from 2015. It was enjoyable and had a few smile moments but it wasn't laugh out loud funny and not too interesting either. Lovely to see more Chris Evans in anything and Michellle Monaghan did a decent job too but this film was just sort of there and then it finished and never left any lasting impression on me.

85. Wild - This just wasn't really my sort of film I guess, I can see why it was popular because it is a very good story but it just had too many dull moments to excite me. There were some highlight moments and I liked the amount of tension they managed to build up (especially when that man takes her to his house to rest up) and the moments you're worried if she'll be able to carry on but they weren't often enough to say I enjoyed the less interesting moments. Reese Witherspoon was really good on this though, it was quite a three dimensional character and she played it very well, she had some funny moments too which I liked. Not sure why Laura Dern got any awards nominations though, she didn't do anything 'wow' and most of her scenes were a couple seconds long in flashbacks where she just smiled or something, odd choice I thought for a nomination.

Ok no no no no no no sad.gif Wild is easily in my top 10 of the year, probably even higher sad.gif Absolutely loved the movie and found it such a beautiful and fantastic movie with powerhouse performances from all, especially Reese Witherspoon heart.gif

Anyway on the other movies, Playing It Cool was ok but nothing great and Spongebob was so crap it was fun and I enjoyed it!

Agree with the low placing for Spongebob, I never really saw the TV show (it was on a Sky channel right? Which we didn't have) and I thought the 3D looked cool from the trailer but I didn't find it funny at all and the 3D didn't really work for me in the movie.

Can't agree with the placing for Wild which was in my top 10, loved it and really love Reese (not that she could save Hot Pursuit tongue.gif). I'd also recommend "The Good Lie", a second Reese movie that made my top 10 of last year and possibly what I consider the most underrated movie of last year (in terms of box office).
