BUMP

Michael Jordan says he will donate $100m (£78m) to groups fighting for racial equality and social justice.

The NBA legend said in a statement that he and his Jordan Brand would distribute the money over 10 years.

The money will go to a number of organisations in a bid to tackle "ingrained racism".

The noose found in Nascar driver Bubba Wallace's garage on Sunday was actually a handle on a garage door and had been there since last year, an FBI investigation concluded.

It added that "no federal crime was committed".

Wallace, the sole full-time black driver in Nascar, successfully pushed to ban the Confederate flag from races.

Nascar said it was "thankful to learn that this was not an intentional, racist act against Bubba".

However, Wallace said the image he saw of "what was hanging in my garage is not a garage pull."

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was left "angry and upset" after midfielder Glen Kamara told him he was racially abused during his side's Europa League defeat by Slavia Prague.

Slavia's Ondrej Kudela said something to Kamara while covering his mouth amid a melee in the final stages.

That enraged the Rangers' players, who confronted Kudela, and Gerrard got involved with his opposite number.

Nacer Bouhanni has withdrawn from Scheldeprijs after receiving racist abuse on social media following an incident in a previous race in France.

Bouhanni was disqualified for dangerous conduct at the Cholet-Pays de la Loire after pushing Britain's Jake Stewart into the barriers on the final sprint.

He apologised but later received "hundreds" of abusive messages.

The UCI, cycling's governing body, said it "firmly condemned the racist attacks" aimed at Bouhanni.

Not good. Whilst the way Bouhanni behaved in that sprint was incredibly dangerous and should be penalised, that has absolutely nothing to do with his race and the fact that people are treating him the way they did because of that is genuinely disgraceful. It feels almost a case of 'we don't think he was punished well enough so as a response we're using the fact he's not white to torment him'.

Week long social media boycott announced by Swansea City.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56672882

This was bound to happen at some point, strong action was needed. It would have been better if it was the entire 92.

Fifa is investigating racial abuse aimed at England players during Thursday's 4-0 win over Hungary in a World Cup qualifier in Budapest.

Raheem Sterling and Jude Bellingham were both targeted.

England condemned the abuse as "completely unacceptable".

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged Fifa "to take strong action against those responsible to ensure that this kind of disgraceful behaviour is eradicated from the game for good."

On Friday, Johnson tweeted: "It is completely unacceptable that England players were racially abused in Hungary last night."

Football's world governing body, Fifa, said it "will take adequate actions" once it receives reports from match officials and delegates who were at the game.

West Indies great Michael Holding says people must "call out" and "embarrass" racists if equality is to be achieved.

Earlier this year, Holding released a book about racial discrimination and revealed he suffered "barbaric" abuse as a player in England.

The 67-year-old was widely praised last year after speaking eloquently on the topic following George Floyd's murder.

Now he has called on people to be "anti-racist", saying: "You need good people to stop being silent."

Merseyside Police were unable to take action against the Instagram users who racially abused Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold and Naby Keita after they were found to be based outside of the UK.

Monkey emojis were sent to both players on April 6 following Liverpool's Champions League defeat at Real Madrid.

The abusive comments were removed by Instagram and reported to the police.

Police are investigating an alleged racist gesture made by a person to Tottenham fans during Sunday's Premier League game at Newcastle United.

Spurs won 3-2 in Newcastle's first game following a takeover of the club.

"An investigation is under way and the police have been made aware," said a Magpies statement.

"Discrimination has absolutely no place in football, in the street, online or in wider society and we will not tolerate it under any circumstances."

The club added they "will pursue the strongest possible action against anyone involved in discriminatory behaviour and will support any efforts by the authorities to secure a criminal conviction."

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm we are investigating an alleged racist incident during Newcastle United's home fixture with Tottenham at St James' Park on Sunday.
