Derby County have entered administration and been deducted 12 points by the English Football League.

The Championship club announced their intention to call in administrators on Friday, with owner Mel Morris saying the coronavirus pandemic had cost them about £20m in lost revenue.

Morris has spent the past two days talking to players and staff, whose jobs are now uncertain.

Wayne Rooney's Rams drop to the foot of the table, on minus two points.

Derby County have been fined £5,000 by the Football Association for failing to control their players during Saturday's Championship loss at Sheffield United.

It was the Rams' first game since going into administration on 22 September, with the club admitting the charge.

It relates to the 57th minute of the match, when Derby players surrounded referee David Webb as goalkeeper Kelle Roos was shown a red card for a tackle.

More woes for Derby County:

Derby County owe £15m to MSD Holdings, it has been confirmed by the US investment group.

The detail is included within MSD's annual financial statements.

MSD has become a significant presence in English football, lending money to a number of Premier League and Championship clubs, including Burnley and Derby.

The Rams went into administration last month amid spiralling losses, triggering a 12-point deduction.

Bristol City, my local team, dropped two goals in added time to lose yet ANOTHER home match this season at Ashton Gate after being 1-0 most of the game. Honestly what a mess. It’s got to be the longest time in memory that the club have gone without a home win. There’s no other option than for the manager to go now.

Bristol City coach Paul Simpson has left the club by mutual agreement.

The 55-year-old had been with the club for 14 months after coming in to support former boss Dean Holden.

Simpson had been assistant head coach at Ashton Gate until undergoing treatment for cancer in July.

The former Carlisle and Preston manager returned to work at the end of August and became first-team coach after Curtis Fleming was brought in as assistant manager last month.

After eight straight defeats, Mick McCarthy and assistant Terry Connor have both departed from the club by mutual agreement.

Steve Morison and Tom Ramasut are in interim charge whilst they seek a permanent replacement.

Neil Warnock says he would have walked away from football but for Steve Gibson's decision to appoint him as Middlesbrough boss, as he prepares to manage a record-breaking 1,602nd match.

He will overtake Dario Gradi's record of most games managing English league clubs in Tuesday's trip to Luton.
