I've found a list of the 100 biggest grossing movies of 2015, it isn't the most accurate list but it is still pretty accurate and includes most of 2015! I will start countdown this down in sections of 10 soon and if anyone wants to count down with me, please pm me
Hopefully this should be fun as we look at the surprise hits and flops throughout the year! Any predictions?

This will be the 1st of many 2015 related countdowns which will include a Buzz-Hype EOY and a points chart UK. If anyone wants to host any more countdowns please feel free to start Hope you all enjoy!

91. Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2- £1.5m
92. Miss You Already- £1.5m
93. Vacation- £1.5m
94. Child 44- £1.5m
95. The Lobster- £1.4m
96. The Walk- £1.4m
97. No Escape- £1.3m
98. While We're Young- £1.3m
99. Sisters- £1.3m
100. Project Almanac- £1.2m

This list seems to be mostly correct! Just a few of the really really recent movies (Daddy's Home, Love The Coopers) and Bollywood movies + specials (e.g. Empire Strikes Back) are misisng and some of the recent movies are lower than they should be (The Good Dinosaur etc)!

So kicking off the top 100 is Project Almanac which I'm kind of surprised is anywhere near this high! Thought it'd be about 30 places lower. The film starts really well but turns into a mess towards the end and the movie struggled at the box office. Recent comedy Sisters zooms into the top 100 with its 7 day opening but has struggled over the last few days while While We're Young outperformed expectations to reach £1.3m. No Escape also did quite solid for a film that could have really bombed badly and The Walk did poor with £1.4m but that is still way better than its embarrasing US Box Office performance. The Lobster was a surprise hit with £1.4m considering the film didn't open very wide and the movie had great holdover numbers, I forgot Child 44 actually came out this year and Vacation completely bombed after it originally looked like it could be a success. Miss You Already did way more than I expected and the dreadful Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 did quite badly here but was quite a big hit in America. Could have been massive if the sequel came out about 3 weeks earlier!

84. 45 Years- £1.9m
85. Suite Francaise- £1.8m
86. Foxcatcher- £1.8m
87. Whiplash- £1.7m
88. Entourage- £1.6m
89. The Gift- £1.6m
90. Absolutely Anything- £1.6m

Mixed bag here of films I thought would do better, films that were doomed from the start, and films that were surprisingly big.
The Gift held well but I still thought it had earned more and that Whiplash total seems pretty poor, especially behind a movie such as Foxcatcher which did way worse at the Oscars etc. 45 Years was one of the biggest surprise hits of the year and earned nearly £2m despite having a very very small release. Testament Of Youth + Suite Frnacaise did solid business, Entourage did better than I'd expect in the UK and Absolutely Anything/Run All Night/Hitman: Agent 47 all did poor but none tragically poor.

I should really learn to read properly! Didn't see the "UK" bit and was like "that seems incredibly low for Foxcatcher".

Ended up being doubly wrong as I assumed it had made a lot more than it actually did worldwide as well!

That's very good for "The Lobster" looking at what it beat/came close to! For a small release and given the niche concept of the movie too.

The Walk really should have been a bigger hit, incredible views and surprisingly a very entertaining story, still a bit sad to see just how poorly it did.

Sisters seems to be holding up incredibly well in the US which is pleasing to see, two hilarious leads and more comedic John Cena which I hope we see even more of soon.

We see 4 big Oscar contenders- from 2 Oscar seasons- and a couple of big bombs fall here!
The Duff (which I still need to see, I've been desperate for months but still haven't got round to it!), Bad Education & The Wedding Ringer did solid, The Visit overperformed and Crimson Peak underperformed. Chappie did absolutely dreadful and bombed horrifically, did even worse in America!
Carol has done really well for a quite small release, Still Alice did fantastic on the back of Julianne Moore's Oscar win, Selma did solid but could've done better and Steve Jobs completely and utterly bombed.

61. Black Mass- £3.2m
62. Spooks: The Greater Good- £3.2m
63. Trainwreck- £2.9m
64. Macbeth- £2.9m
65. The Last Witch Hunter- £2.8m
66. The Intern- £2.8m
67. Mr Holmes- £2.6m
68. Woman In Gold- £2.6m
69. Ex_Machina- £2.5m
70. Two By Two- £2.5m

Very good for Two By Two considering it is a pretty limited animated movie. Ex_Machina did very well for another small release and I imagine that to be a type of movie that is remembered very well in the next few years considering it is still talked about often! Woman In Gold and Mr Holmes both did very solid for drama's and The Intern did fantastic and had great legs, it did even better in America after finishing with 75M off a 19M Opening Weekend! A film that was released on the same weekend as The Intern, Macbeth, did better than I thought it did at the Box Office after its underwhelming critical/awards response. The Last Witch Hunter also did solid for a film that could have really flopped. Trainwreck kind of disappointed a bit, would have expected higher numbers for it, and Spooks + Black Mass both did quite well.

53. Jupiter Ascending- £4.4m
54. Insidious: Chapter 3- £4.2m
55. Poltergeist- £4m
56. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension- £4m
57. Amy- £3.9m
58. Paper Towns- £3.5m
59. Unfriended- £3.5m
60. Sinister 2- £3.2m

A heavy horror section with 5 movies from the horror genre making the #51-#60 section! Sinister 2 did well, Unfriended did great, Paranormal Activity also did fantastic considering the negative buzz around the franchise and a few theatre chains not showing it (think that was more America though), Poltergeist also did solid and the Insidious franchise continued to do big business.
2 very well received critical movies complete this section with Sicario and Brooklyn both having fantastic openings and even better holds to lead to totals around £5m, both thoroughly deserved! Paper Towns was very frontloaded from the 7 day opening weekend but still did ok. Jupiter Ascending is one of the biggest bombs of the year and the £4.4m total is pathetic. On the other hand, Amy is one of the biggest surprises of the year by breaking many many records and having fantastic holds after a record breaking limited opening weekend! A massive box office success!

41. Focus- £7.2m
42. Magic Mike XXL- £7m
43. The Man From U.N.C.L.E- £6.6m
44. Star Wars Episode V- The Empire Strikes Back- £6.5m

46. Fantastic Four- £5.9m
47. Far From The Madding Crowd- £5.9m

50. Woman In Black: Angel Of Death- £4.9m

Just missing the heavy horror section (51-60) at #50 is guess what, ANOTHER HORROR MOVIE! Considering I actually forgot the film existed; let alone released this year, the Woman In Black 2 did pretty well. The Good Dinosaur is one of the most unlucky films by using this countdown as it is about 20 places lower due to its last couple of weekends not being included. The film started very weak and is finally starting to do well, even though it is way below Pixar's usual gross. 2015 Best Picture Winner Birdman (I keep forgetting Boyhood didn't win sadly) which did very well with £6m after a small opening weekend and I had no clue Madding Crowd did that well, very good gross. Gigantic flop from the Fantastic Four reboot that was possibly the biggest bomb of 2015. The film opened dreadfully with like £2m and fell incredibly quickly and ended under £6m! Bridge Of Spies has done fantastic and is solidify itself as a strong Oscar contender! Action movies Man From U.N.C.L.E and Focus both did very well by ending just south and just north of the £7m mark and both are great movies! Magic Mike XXL opened quite small but did great in the end, not as good as the first movie but still really good! And we see our first Star Wars entry, from the usually named favourite Empire Strikes Back which grossed a massive £6.5m from the Secret Cinema run and had many amazing holds!

Top 40 will be done Sunday at latest before the next EOY countdown

34. The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials- £8.5m

38. Straight Outta Compton- £8.2m
39. The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water- £7.9m
40. The Divergent Series: Insurgent- £7.9m

Surprised Insurgent did that well, thought it struggled here whereas that total is pretty much on par with Divergent if I remember correctly.
Spongebob did solid, Compton did very well but not as good as it did in America, Suffragette did fantastic for a movie that underwhelming during Award season, Into The Woods did good but was expecting more and Spy also did well. Maze Runner 2 also did better than I expected and a bit bigger than the 1st movie which is very good.
The 3 big surprises here though are the Pan/Pixels/Southpaw grosses. Despite average reviews, Southpaw had a terrific opening and great legs to a total over £8m, Pixels did pretty well and made good box office during the summer despite Adam Sandler movies struggling nowadays but the biggest shock is how well and great Pan did which has grossed just under £8.5m. Considering the extent of how much Pan bombed everywhere else, it did amazing business here as was really expecting a total around £4m

23. The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel- £15.5m

Every film has passed £10m in the top 30 this year! And let's start with a gigantic bomb considering the first Ted did £9m on it's opening weekend, albeit that was a multiple day opening. Ted 2 managed just £1m more in total than Ted's Opening Weekend after receiving horrific reviews and the general decrease in Seth MacFarlane's movie outings since the first Ted. Everest did solid business, Terminator did pretty crap after having one of the worst marketing campaigns of the year due to one of the big spoilers being revealed in the advertisement and San Andreas did very well for a disaster movie. While it pales in comparison to its American performance where it was the biggest movie of the year, American Sniper still did pretty well and despite peaking no higher than #3 I think, Shaun The Sheep built its way to an excellent gross for the cute animation. The Lady In The Van became a surprise hit amongst cinemagoers and has already grossed £10m and The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel continued the high grosses of the first movie. Ant-Man did solid but a quite low gross for a Marvel movie and Kingsman of course was a big surprise hit

12. Cinderella- £22.0m
13. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation- £21.6m
14. The Theory Of Everything- £21.5m
15. Big Hero 6- £20.5m

17. Legend- £18.7m
18. Pitch Perfect 2- £18.4m
19. Mad Max: Fury Road- £18.2m
20. Taken 3- £18.0m

Taken 3 continued to yield high grosses for the movie franchise in the UK while the other franchises just missing the top 10 also did great! Hotel Transylvania 2 & Mission Impossible 5 both made the highest amount of money for both entries in their respective series which is a great achievement for both, especially for the latter which I still need to see! Big Hero 6 had another great gross for a Disney movie and The Theory Of Everything was one of the biggest Oscar contenders of the year with over £20m made. With both films practically grossing the same amount EVERY weekend, it is no surprise to see Mad Max: Fury Road & Pitch Perfect 2 next to each other, with the latter pulling ahead by 200k. Both were big box office successes and that is a massive improvement for Pitch Perfect from the 1st movies box office! Legend was a massive surprise hit and became one of the biggest 18 movies of all time with a shockingly high £18.7m gross and just missing the top 10 are Cinderella and The Martian which both pulled great grosses for big movies!

Yeah the biggest hits of the year all zoom into the top 10 in style!
Home was a gigantic box office surprise and the charm of the movie + the absolutely empty animation market gave Home a fantastic chart-run (one of the best of the year) and a big gross. Mockingjay Part 2 did pretty well but however was lower than the other 2 sequels which is quite disappointing. 50 Shades Of Grey became the biggest 18 of all time unsurprisingly and grossed a massive £35.0m for one of the most talked about books + movies of the decade. Inside Out became one of Pixar's biggest hits of all time with an astrominal £40.0m and Fast 7 also did amazing! And the top 5 don't really need much to say about them! Minions was as big as Despicable Me 2 despite being a spin-off, Jurassic World surpassed all expectations to reach £67m, Avengers 2 did a little less than expected but still did well, Star Wars 7 is of course the biggest movie in the UK of all time now and did fantastic business in the last 14 days of December and Spectre is the 3rd biggest movie of all time after passing the £94m mark. Incredible!

'Pan' was extremely lucky that it had no other kids films to contend with (other than 'Hotel Transylvania') through half term. It opened quite poorly didn't it? But was a steady seller in the end due to lack of competition. Still a massive bomb for it's budget though! 'Maze Runner' rightfully outdoing it's predecessor! Such a great movie and it deserved to do the business. 'Insurgent' surprised me too. I was under the impression it bombed completely?!

Not surprised that 'Mad Max' & 'Pitch Perfect 2' are side by side. They were practically like that through their entire box office runs! Pleased with the performance of 'Ant-Man'. Did about as well as I expected it to do! 'Kingsman' smashing thoughhhh <3

I think 'Spectre' will be number 1. With 'Jurassic World', 'Minions', 'Avengers' & 'Inside Out' completing the top 5. Probs in that order.

EDIT: Ok maybe not. I thought 'Star Wars' had already been and not much of it's total had counted or something. Maybe I misread lmao! Oops.

Absolutely staggering year at the top end of the box office charts though. Who said cinema is dead?! <3

I think Pan did quite disappointing on Opening Weekend but not as bad as I expected! It did have great legs because of half term and no other kids movies bar HT2 like you said, mostly due to Spectre meaning many films avoided opening there!
So was I for its UK gross as well! Anyway expecting Allegiant to completely bomb though considering there seems to be very little hype around the movie or franchise any more

Ikr with that Mad Max/Pitch Perfect 2 thing *.* Pitch Perfect 2 spent 6 weeks top 15 and was next to Mad Max every single one of those weeks! Crazy
