BuzzJack Music Forum _ Spice Girls _ Spice Girls Singles Rate - Results

Posted by: C.R. Sep 17 2010, 04:41 PM

Oh dear! I'll start this tonight

Posted by: C.R. Sep 17 2010, 08:44 PM

13. - Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) - Avg. 3.412 (9 - AaronTM, -1 - Leonardo2505, Dandy*, C.R., West, 152.chris)

An unsurprising start to the results, it was the only song to get nothing in double figures, and had by far the most amount of -1s. Considered one of their worst singles and far behind twelfth place, it is rather deserving of it's place.

Posted by: Lukuzz Sep 17 2010, 10:24 PM

Well thats hardly suprising, although I do actually rather like the song now, it was just very underwhelming when they first premiered it!

Posted by: Chriss_S Sep 17 2010, 10:25 PM

Can't stand Headlines. sleep.gif

Posted by: Dré Sep 17 2010, 11:59 PM

Boring song, disappointing comeback. Ruined their chart peaks too

Posted by: C.R. Sep 18 2010, 10:53 PM

12. - Let Love Lead The Way - Avg. 4.529 (10 - Lukuzz, Dré, 0 - chart wizard, 152.chris)

The last song the Spice Girls release comes last, and (part of) their second-last single is second-last. Is a pattern emerging? Pretty bland (imo) and not particularly memorable, I can't say that I argue with where it is.

Posted by: JakeWild Sep 18 2010, 11:16 PM

yeah i wish they'd never even released headlines it ruined their nice chart runs.

and i don't remember hearing let love lead the way at the time and after listening to it recently i've realised i didn't really miss much

Posted by: Dré Sep 19 2010, 12:00 AM

I think its a great ballad, slightly R&B-ish, with nice lyrics. Deserved to be a lot higher

Posted by: Lukuzz Sep 19 2010, 09:48 AM

Ltltw is amazing IMO. They all sound brilliant on it too. So underated!

Posted by: Chris-2k10 Sep 19 2010, 09:57 AM

Headlines was boring zzz.gif a real letdown

Not sure who i'd like to win, probs Say You'll Be There.

Posted by: C.R. Sep 19 2010, 10:49 PM

11. Holler - Avg. 5.059 (10, Lukuzz, -1, gooddelta)

Another song in the pattern I noted before, pretty much saying that (in the consensus of this board) the Spice Girls got worse as time went on. Not one of their better ones I'll admit too, but it did get a few high marks too so what do I know? This rounds off the bottom 3, and also sets us up for the top 10. Woot!

Posted by: JakeWild Sep 19 2010, 10:56 PM

yeah this one was pretty poo too. the top 10 will be all songs i actually like apart from who do you think you are which really annoys me for some reason.

i do quite like the holler video though

Posted by: Lukuzz Sep 20 2010, 08:48 AM

I also love Holler, hence my 10 for it. 'Forever' is an amazing album imo, its so underated!

Posted by: Chris-2k10 Sep 20 2010, 11:32 AM

I really liked Holler! Underrated

Posted by: C.R. Sep 20 2010, 09:35 PM

Well, as I mentioned before, here begins the top 10!

10. Mama - Avg. 5.176 (10 - Nick F1, gooddelta, -1 Severin)

Mama narrowly gets into the top 10, when it looked like it would be there for the first half of the voting. Again, in my opinion, a pretty unremarkable song. I think, in hindsight, I was a bit harsh to give it a 0, but it did split opinion a bit, so I don't think it would have mattered really.

Oh, and for a bit for fun/bragging rights, anyone want to try to predict the top 10/5/whatever? Nothing gained, just something to liven it up a bit.

Posted by: Lukuzz Sep 20 2010, 09:39 PM

Mama is deffo not one of their best, although I would still consider it a classic!

Posted by: 152.chris Sep 20 2010, 11:42 PM

Mama should definitely be higher!

Posted by: Dré Sep 21 2010, 03:38 AM

Holler and Mama should be higher, especially since Stop and Wannabe are still around...

Posted by: Chris-2k10 Sep 21 2010, 03:21 PM

^ Wannabe is one of their best

Posted by: Lukuzz Sep 21 2010, 04:21 PM

Agreed about Wannabe its SO under average. but I don't think they would have been half as big if it wasn't their debut single!

Posted by: C.R. Sep 21 2010, 09:21 PM

9. Goodbye - Avg. 7.118 (10 - Lukuzz, Casey__, 1 - Severin)

A sharp rise in the average now, as we start to get into the 'better' rated singles. This is another song I regret giving a lowish score to, listening to it now, but I can see how people can dislike it. It continues, with the exception of Mama, the pattern of the latest singles doing worst. Will it continue with the next latest single, Viva Forever?

Posted by: Leonardo2505 Sep 21 2010, 09:39 PM

I doubt it, I think that Wannabe should be next

Posted by: 152.chris Sep 22 2010, 11:13 AM

viva forever next pleaseee

Posted by: JakeWild Sep 22 2010, 11:30 AM

i hope not! viva forever to win! i like their ballads much more than anything else

Posted by: Lukuzz Sep 22 2010, 11:55 AM

Goodbye so low! shoulda been top 5!

Posted by: Chris-2k10 Sep 22 2010, 12:47 PM

Goodbye is really beautiful wub.gif definitely should be higher.

Posted by: C.R. Sep 22 2010, 07:53 PM

Some of you'll be happy...

8. Wannabe - Avg. 7.412 (10 - Nick F1, Chriss_S, 152.chris, 1 - Severin)

Ironically compared to overall theme before, it's the first Spice Girls single now. One of their more famous songs, I'm a bit surprised it's not higher, but it was always around this position in the voting, so...

Posted by: AaronTM Sep 23 2010, 02:24 AM

I'm not surprised about "Wannabe" finishing here. I perhaps expected it to be above "Who Do You Think You Are", but I also expected it below "Goodbye", so this is where I would have probably predicted it. It's definitely one that only remains brilliant for nostalgia value and how significant it was for them. Even though it's far from their best, it's what made them what they are.

A bit disappointed, but not surprised at the bottom three. I'm one of the few people that LOVE "Headlines". sad.gif The "Forever" album is also really underrated, but I think that's because it was definitely more R&B orientated than their other two albums. It still sounds like the Spice Girls to me (and I love about 8 tracks on it) but I can see how you could be a Spice Girls fan and not like "Forever".

Agreed with everything you just said.

I love 'Tell Me Why' and 'Get Down With Me'. heart.gif

whaaaaat!?

Posted by: Rami Sep 23 2010, 03:22 PM

I really hoped LLLTW, chart higher, actually that song is really great and was actually one of the song I really loved by them biggrin.gif

Posted by: C.R. Sep 23 2010, 10:01 PM

7. Too Much - Avg. 7.588 (less 9s) (11 - AaronTM, 4 - Severin)

Our first (and only) tie appears now, as we start the second half of the rate, and near the top 5. One of my favourites, I'm a bit upset that it didn't get higher, but as I like pretty much all of the other songs, it doesn't really matter.

Posted by: Lukuzz Sep 23 2010, 10:11 PM

Another brilliant song, but I prefer Viva Forever, Goodbye and LLLTW out of the ballad singles.

Posted by: Chris-2k10 Sep 24 2010, 12:18 AM

Nah not mad on this one!

Posted by: JakeWild Sep 24 2010, 12:24 AM

too much! amazing.. another one of theirs that gives me nostalgia the most. one of my favourite videos by them too.

"Get Down With Me" wasn't one of the eight tracks I was thinking of but, actually, I really like that one too. My favourties are "Tell Me Why", "Right Back At Ya" and "Wasting My Time". wub.gif

Gutted to see "Too Much" this low, I'm always switching back and forth between it and "Viva Forever" for the best Spice Girl song. They were all about the energy, but I think those two ballads are easily their best.

Posted by: C.R. Sep 25 2010, 09:26 PM

Oops, forgot last night, lol. I'll do two tonight then, the other'll come in an hour or so.

6. Spice Up Your Life - Avg. 7.588 (more 9s) (11 - Chriss_S, 3 - Severin)

Narrowly missing out on the top 5, and as with Too Much, I'm upset it isn't top 5, but as I like 4 of the 5 in the top 5, it's not that bad.

Which means that, in release date order, the top 5 is:

Say You'll Be There
2 Become 1
Who Do You Think You Are
Stop
Viva Forever

Posted by: AaronTM Sep 25 2010, 10:07 PM

I'm really surprised "Who Do You Think You Are" is still in this. I think it's one of their weakest singles, easily in the bottom 5! Disappointed to see "Spice Up Your Life" miss out on the top 5, but I definitely prefer three of the actual top 5. It was a good lead single and, for that reason, is probably their second most iconic song. Not their best, but sums up what they were.

Posted by: C.R. Sep 25 2010, 11:07 PM

5. Stop - Avg. 7.824 (11 - C.R., -1 - Dré)

Starting off the top 5 is Stop, my personal favourite of all their songs, so I'm a little bit miffed that it's a bit low, seeing as it was a lot higher up until the final vote, but there's still 3 songs here I like.

Posted by: 152.chris Sep 26 2010, 11:30 AM

stop should have been in the top 2 definitely! say you'll be there for number 1, and definitely not viva forever

Posted by: Lukuzz Sep 26 2010, 12:41 PM

I hope its like this -

4. Who Do You Think You Are
3. 2 Become 1
2. Say You'll Be There
1. Viva Forever

But I reckon -

4. Who Do You Think You Are
3. Viva Forever
2. Say You'll Be There
1. 2 Become 1

Posted by: AaronTM Sep 26 2010, 02:54 PM

"Stop" should have been top 3! I think it's the least dated sounding of all their songs. (which is weird, because it's probably the one that is most retro styled)

I agree and would be surprised if "Who Do You Think You Are" wasn't next. Seriously overrated here!

Posted by: Dré Sep 26 2010, 06:48 PM

Stop is so crappy, my god. Absolutely hate it. Spice Up Your Life is a fun record, about right for it.

Posted by: C.R. Sep 26 2010, 10:13 PM

4. Who Do You Think You Are - Avg. 7.882 (11 - Leonardo2505, Theo, 4 - C.R.)

Not really a surprise out of what's left, Who Do You Think You Are comes in 4th, just missing out on the top 3.This is the only one I was talking about before that was left that I didn't like, so I'm glad that's missed out on the top 3, though still would have preferred some above it.

So top 3 it is, I'm already starting to feel nostalgic about this rate!

Posted by: 152.chris Sep 27 2010, 12:15 PM

I hope :
1. Say You'll Be There
2. 2 Become 1
3. Viva Forever

Posted by: Leonardo2505 Sep 27 2010, 01:04 PM

Have a terrible feeling Viva Forever might win though

Posted by: Dré Sep 27 2010, 05:44 PM

Viva Forever is by far their best track, their most mature effort and a timeless ballad.

Agreed, its just pure amazing! heart.gif

3. 2 Become 1 - Avg. 8.412 (11 - Dandy*, 2 - Severin)

Bronze prize goes to 2 Become 1, in my opinion, probably the most sublime of their singles. I'm glad it's top 3 as it was one of my favourite singles by them, and still is re-listening to it. It was consistently in the top 3 throughout voting, as you could guess from the sharp rise in average, along with one of the two left to come.

So,
Say You'll Be There
or Viva Forever?

Posted by: Dré Sep 28 2010, 01:45 PM

Really hope its Viva Forever. Say You'll Be There, never saw the appeal, good pop song, but that is all.

Posted by: Lukuzz Sep 28 2010, 01:56 PM

Ooh suprised 2 Become 1 isn't number 1.

But I'm glad as it leaves my top 2 ever Spice Girls singles, so its a great result imo!

Still I hope Viva Forever wins!

Posted by: 152.chris Sep 28 2010, 04:21 PM

baffled how viva forever is so high.. plus the video is terrifying

Posted by: C.R. Sep 28 2010, 09:17 PM

Ok, here we go...

2. Viva Forever - Avg. 8.471 (11 - JakeWild, Lukuzz, Casey__, gooddelta, Dré, 2 - Severin)

Despite seemingly being the most popular of people posting what they wanted to win, Viva Forever just misses out at the final hurdle. It had 5 elevens, by far more than any other individual song (2), and just under half of all the elevens cast. Despite this though, it wasn't in the top 3 for practically all of the voting, only getting there after the final set of votes. While not my favourite of their songs, I'd have rather it have won than Say You'll Be There, but what can I say?

Leaving...

1. Say You'll Be There - Avg. 8.647 (11 - West, 152.chris, 5 - Severin)

Despite not having as many 11s as Viva Forever, this was by far the most consistent song; while all of the other songs (bar Headlines) changed places a few times, Say You'll Be There only changed once, from 2nd to 1st. It had the highest lowest score for any song, so it was in a sense the deserving winner. It is one of their better songs, and it's better than what could have won (Who Do You Think You Are was in the lead at the start).

So, that's that! What do you think of the winner? Was Viva Forever robbed? I'll post the total scores later,so you can see how close some of the things were.

Posted by: JakeWild Sep 28 2010, 09:32 PM

i like say you'll be there but viva forever will always by my favourite by them. especially as it holds some much nostalgia with it. and the video is pretty amazing (though does anyone to this day know if thats a girl or a boy??)

Posted by: Lukuzz Sep 28 2010, 10:22 PM

Viva Forever is their best song ever, but Say You'll Be There is my number 2 and is there best video imo so it's all good!

Posted by: Casey__ Sep 30 2010, 09:54 AM

Great rate!

I adore the top three, definitely their best three singles imo! happy.gif Would have preferred 'Viva Forever' to have won though!

Posted by: Dré Oct 8 2010, 07:03 PM

Viva Forever should've won, far superior song imo.
