CHART COMMENTARY

Hope you had a good Christmas! Welcome to the one personal chart of mine in the year where not much happens at all. For the first time all year, there are no new entries this week, but merely a rearrangement of last week's chart. None of it makes a difference to the top 3 however, which remains static once again, to ensure that Jess Glynne sees out 2018 with a third week at number one for 'Thursday'. One thing we have neglected to mention about the single in the last two weeks is that this song is Jess' eighth number one - a total that now brings her level pegging with Kylie Minogue for female solo artists.

As we predicted on its debut a few weeks ago, Now United's 'All Day' has shown surprising resilience. It's chart run now reads as an almost perfectly even 2-4-6-8-4, the five week old single now rising back into the top 5 after being pushed aside to accomodate the returning Christmas classics last week. Los Unidades (aka Coldplay), Pharrell and Jozzy also leap a place to a new peak of #9 with 'E-Lo', whilst Clean Bandit with Marina and the Diamonds and Luis Fonsi reclaim a top 10 berth at #10 with 'Baby'.

Olly Murs and Snoop Dogg's 'Moves' also goes on the rebound to #13, whilst LSD's former number one hit from September, 'Thunderclouds', moves back inside the top 20 after a fortnight's absence. The track is already somewhere in my top 3 biggest singles of 2018. Where exactly though? You'll have to wait until New Year's Eve when I count down my Chart of the Year.

And that's it for this week, and indeed 2018. We'll be back next Friday, 4th January, when we'll reveal who takes the first number one on my personal chart for 2019. Until then, thank you for taking the time to follow my personal charts in 2018, and let me wish you a very happy new year. Here's to an even better year ahead for music.

FLASHBACK TOP 10
Your chance to see how my personal top 10 was looking on this week in the last 20 years. This week in 2009: After taking that year's Christmas number one, 'Banned' Of St Trinian's claim the final number one of the year, plus classic hits from Robbie Williams, Cheryl and er, The Muppets...

1. (1) 'BANNED' OF ST TRINIAN'S - Up & Away

2. (2) ROBBIE WILLIAMS - You Know Me
3. (5) MINI VIVA - I Wish
4. (4) CHERYL COLE FEAT. WILL.I.AM - 3 Words
5. (7) JLS - Everybody In Love
6. (3) PET SHOP BOYS - It Doesn't Often Snow At Christmas
7. (6) THE MUPPETS & QUEEN - Bohemian Rhapsody
8. (10) BLACK EYED PEAS - Meet Me Halfway
9. (8) RIHANNA - Russian Roulette
10. (9) THE POGUES & KIRSTY MACCOLL - Fairytale Of New York
