Along with the confirmation that Tom Leeb won't be returning to represent them, France have also announced that they're returning to a national selection for 2021 ohmy.gif It won't quite be Destination Eurovision exactly but a new concept currently under the project name 'Un Eurovision France'.

It sounds a bit ambitious given current circumstances, with it planned to be broadcast from an arena outside of Paris, but fingers crossed it can go ahead as they intend!

Hopefully they will put out some really great songs just like the previous two editions! Their respective Eurovision positions from the national selection don't really paint the whole picture but that is a really great way for them to succeed!

Also fingers crossed that Gabriella will return and avenge her undeserved DNQ!

The TV schedule for the last week of December has seemingly revealed the first five acts to be Casanova, Philippine, LMX, Ali and Barbara Pravi.

Barbara Pravi co-wrote Junior Eurovision entries "Bim Bam Toi" and "J'imagine" so expecting excellence from her!

The 12 songs have now all dropped (and also France have confirmed they'll host JESC 2021 but no1curr bout that)

Barbara Pravi's entry seems to be the one that's generated the most hype so far - it's definitely the most uniquely French of the 12!

Both would make great entries (and they appear to be leading the way over anything else on Youtube views) and I feel like Barbara would get the better result, but I'm backing "Alléluia" wub.gif

The choreography adds to it. It's almost like they're doing sign language. I'm in danger if over playing it.

Voila seems to be the favourite. While it's nice, this is another level.

I hate when I love a song that isn't the favourite to win a national selection process.

I know. This is the first year I've got into the national selections part. I guess this sort of heartbreak is part of being a Eurovision fan. sad.gif

Show tonight.

I'm trying to not invest myself in Alléluia too much.

It's all part of the experience of being a Euroqueen!

Barbara Pravi is the leader in the YouTube views by quite a distance over Andriamad (144k vs 92k) with Philippine (76k) and LMK (60k) in 3rd and 4th so it would seem like 'Voila' is the obvious favourite to win here but there is always a question about how much songs like Barbara's are actually popular in France rather than what foreigners like and think is sterotypically French. So if there's going to be an upset I think it'll be one of those three challengers.

But the French final is our first opportunity to watch a NF with decent production values before Melodifestivalen (next week queens!) so this should be enjoyable!

I adore 'Voilà', which usually means it won't be chosen laugh.gif

(I also quite like 'Peux-tu me dire ?' but that's got no chance)

I don't really find anything interesting in Voila. The melody seems lost on me.

Voila is great (I think writing the Junior Eurovision song will count in her favour, and be mentioned CONSTANTLY), I like Alleluia a lot too, and Paris me dit is underrated (post-revamp).

Amour Fou COULD be great but I think it needs a revamp before Rotterdam if it wins, the rock/soul parts sound too separate from the dance parts, it's kind of jarring :/

Support group for all those affected by the tonal whiplash caused by going from 'Voila' to the pony song!

Andriamud and Phillippine have now both been knocked out in the first round (cutting 12 songs down to 8) so if you want an idea of how accurate those viewcounts are as a predictor of popularity - the answer is not very!
