So I thought it was probably time we had a thread to discuss the X Factor's latest most-anticipated album, from the latest series's runner-up Fleur East. She released her first EP at the end of 2013 so we already have original material from her, as well as studio recordings of all of her performances from the show (most memorably "Uptown Funk", above). I'm personally incredible excited to hear what she comes out with, I'd say it's my most-anticipated X Factor alumnus release since Alexandra's début except for Ella's last year! Check out her "mashup" (it's more of a medley but I like it anyway) of Frank Ocean's "Super Rich Kids" and Lorde's "Royals" below along with links for the other tracks from She: "Mirror Mirror" "Look Again" "She" "Echo" This post has been edited by THEO.: Jan 3 2015, 09:50 PM |

I think Fleur may be able to pull off a Ciara-esque career however I don't think she has enough character to really stand out and appeal

I'm both extremely excited and nervous for her album. Presumably she's going to be signed to Syco which could go either way really. If she's given a good team and as much creative control as Little Mix then she could be onto a great sound with potential worldwide success. But Syco have the potential to ruin her too. Cher was supposed to be an Urban act on X Factor (even though I never bought her as an urban act anyway) yet she released bratty pop. It seems Fleur has some great musical inspirations so I hope that is channelled in her music. How she was styled on X Factor was amazing ('Uptown Funk' - both performances - in particular) so she should keep that stylist. I want commercial Pop/R&B from her basically but maybe some songs a bit left-field too a la Frank Ocean/Solange etc.

Predictably, she's signed to SyCo.

I don't think a Ryan Tedder style song is what she'll be needing. She'll need something a lot more "interesting"/less predictable (no shade to Mr. Tedder, we all know how much I adore him and his work), I just can't vision that type of song for her. Hopefully Mark wants to work with her and gives her a classic, style smash. Like 'Uptown Funk'.

Saw this coming from a mile off (as did everyone I suppose).
Anyway great news! She's going to be the star of the series just like Ella, Little Mix and Olly were. |

So excited for this! Really hoping she delivers. She's worked with some great producers!
QUOTE I've worked with so many...a few of them are; TMS, Fraser T Smith, Darkchild, Babyface. All of them are originals, unless I decide to add any covers x That's what she replied to me on Facebook the other day! SO excited for Darkchild stuff especially!

When we last spoke, we both decided she was going to be the UKs answer to Britney and Bey. I'm talking all singing, all dancing, all committed.
To whoever up there says she doesn't have the personality obviously hasn't watched her. The woman oozes personality. |

I think she'll probably be marketed as a solo version of Little Mix since she's working with a few of their producers and also because Syco aren't known for their originality. Her team need to realise what made her performances of 'Uptown Funk' so special and try to incorporate them into her début single and video. It should be an anthem full of spunk and a dance break.

Sax
As X Factor “moments” go, few can rival Fleur’s breakout performance of ‘Uptown Funk.’ Smartly, then, she has cooked up her own take on the sound with the deliciously addictive ’Sax.’ Big, booming, and busy, the Electric cut (which was co-written by East) features funkified production and ample swagger to match. Heavy on the metaphors, the track showcases a flirty Fleur throwing down the gauntlet to a potential bae. She belts “if you wanna hear me sing, you better play that Sax.” A seismic saxophone rift follows; one that sounds much fuller and more robust than those featured on some of this Summer’s big hits. A subtle, but positively impactful point of difference. The pre-chorus sees the singer chant “baby, baby I’ve been waiting for someone to blow my mind”…and blow our minds she does. A certified smash! Breakfast This dynamite uptempo fuses the omnipresent synth sound of 80’s with a markedly modern knock. The end result? A sure-fire single. Catchy and laced with multiple hooks, the track (which was produced by Julian Bunetta) is drenched in attitude and again draws on a myriad of similes and metaphors to set Fleur’s sensual agenda. If there was any doubt about whether Ms. East is ready get her sexy on, it’s dashed when she confidently coos “would you take me home or would you leave me in this club alone.” Elsewhere she sings, “I look delicious;” fitting as the track sounds so too! More & More At this junction, it’s become more than apparent that uptempo is the lane Fleur aims to rule and reside in. Yet, on this track she proves she is also able to be versatile within said sound. Dipped in island spice, the infectious production – courtesy of Electric – presents a fresh take on a “love song.” Indeed, instead of being sappy or soggy, the track is danceable and should have many whining their waists. Paris Easily the most unique sounding song of the quad, the track sees Fleur slow things down – without losing any of the sass so effortlessly present in the previous cuts. Slick and laid back, this emanates an air of “throwback.” Not to times of distant past, but more so a polished take on early Fugees material. The rich, creamy production sets a blazing backdrop for East’s bedroom ambition, which she doesn’t shy away from letting the listener know. She sings “My bedroom is one hour away. Call…the…taxi.” Again, hook-heavy, engaging, and a compelling listen. The spoken word French section defines fierce! http://thatgrapejuice.net/2015/10/exclusiv...le-debut-album/ |

Confirmed for a November 27th release! I'm surprised as I thought they'd put it out after a second single early next year, hopefully 'Sax' takes off then.

The Album is Called Love Sax and Flashbacks and is out the 4th December avaliable to Pre Order NOW !
The Tracklist is up as well 1 Sax 2 Breakfast 3 More and More 4 Gold Watch 5 Love Me or Leave Me Alone 6 Paris 7 Kitche 8 Over Getting Over 9 Baby Don't Dance 10 Tears Will Dry 11 Never Say When 12 Like That 13 Serious 14 Know Your Name 15 Uptown Funk 16 Girl On Fire REALLY exicted for this some interesting song titles. Not too suprising Uptown Funk has been included on her first album as it was basically her signature winners song on X Factor even though she didn't win. She also sings Girl On Fire in a TV Ad as well so I guess that's why that's on there as well. EDIT: I tried to copy over the Album cover art as well but it dosen't seem to have let me do it for some reason This post has been edited by troylovesmusic: Nov 1 2015, 12:37 PM |
