BuzzJack Music Forum _ Movies and Theatre _ Buzzjack Movie Awards: 2016

Posted by: Samantha1989 7th January 2017, 10:28 PM

(Banner will be coming in the next few days!)

Hello there and welcome to the opening round of Buzzjack's movie awards 2016. Below are some categories where you are able to nominate up to 5 films in each category (unless specified in brackets, e.g. 10 for best film!), these will then be totalled up and sent through to the final round where you vote for your absolute favourites. Any film released in the UK from February 5th 2016 to December 26th 2016 (I've made a pretty definitive list below to help you out but feel free to add your own if they released in the UK between those dates, also key films are in bold if you just want to have a quick look through! The key films are either big films released or films that I 100% know have fans on Buzzjack!). This is a different range of dates to last year as films released in January 2017 are INELIGIBLE and will be involved in next years awards. So please don't vote for any films that come out in January 2017 in the UK- even if it has already came out in other countries! Due to January films not counting this year, this also gives us more flexibility with dates so there will be 3 weeks for voting this year after the nominees are revealed! Due to this, I will try & host some FilmClub sessions for films nominated! The deadline for submitting nominations is the 1st February 23:59PM, but please try sending your nominations as soon as you can as this would make it a lot easier for this! The razzies will be going up soon & please PM your nominations to me, thank you!

Though in this thread, you can & we encourage you to MAKE FYC Posts!. FYC posts are basically For Your Consideration Posts where you post films & performances & songs etc that'd you loved throughout the year to try & encourage other people to check them out/vote for it! I'll be posting my acting FYC's in a few minutes for an example!

On lead actress/supporting actress split, we thank f*ck don't seem to have any this year so no Alicia/Rooney confusion like last year!

We also have 5 new categories this year!

Jonjo just to clarify, are those your final nominations?!

Posted by: Jonjo 8th January 2017, 12:43 AM

Yeah! Any of them you need me to change? (you're not expecting them to be in that genre for example/don't classify certain actors as supporting or leads etc..)

I shall get my nominations in at some point this month. Not sure whether I've seen enough films in 2016 to warrant nominating much, but I shall see what I can do.

Posted by: Brett-Butler 14th January 2017, 11:20 PM

Also, if anyone else fancies nominating Your Name in Best Animated Film category, my happiness levels will increase by approximately 7.5 Coming Up's.

Wait so where is the voting

This is the part where you nominate your favourites of the year (using the categories in the opening post!) and the voting is the next round after the nominees have been decided!

Thanks John & Brett! I really need to check out Your Name but haven't had a chance to yet!

(And some people vote by PM please! Hoping to have some in here to encourage others of good films/performances and some by PM to increase mystery about who's getting nominated!)

The lack of last January and this January makes this really difficult.

Yeah this year is definitely going to be the hardest year due to the date change taking effect this year! Though on the other hand it could result in some really interesting nominations! Plz still vote! <3

Is there a TV version of this in the other forum or just movies?

Votes in. I saw very few movies from 2016, and those I have were some of the less well known-ones, so I doubt many/any of them will make the cut, but hopefully I can help to throw the odd curveball or two.

Ok I'll wait for you to submit later tonight and then close it! Happy with 15 entries though people can still submit until midnight if you want! <3

Posted by: Samantha1989 2nd February 2017, 11:30 PM

The deadline for this will be whenever this thread is locked as reason originally closing a couple of days before results reveal was so we could prep but I'm too busy & Jahq's ill so I don't think the extra prep time is rly going to result in much! Thread will probably close sometime tomorrow though!

So last chance to get your votes in Jahq/Michael/etc

The results will be coming on Saturday throughout the day whatever happens!

Posted by: Samantha1989 3rd February 2017, 04:24 PM

Voting is closed. If anybody wants to help reveal the results please PM me now as Jahq is out all weekend!

Posted by: Samantha1989 3rd February 2017, 05:17 PM

Results coming over the weekend for both awards from Josh and I unless anyone else wants to help?!:
Results will be fully counted over next couple of hours then Josh and I will sort out who's revealing what categories, so you have a little bit of time left here to submit nominations but not much longer

Also lots of ties in Oscars so look for tiebreak poll to go up in just over 2 hours so please vote in that!

First batch of results: Josh and I this evening
Second batch: Saturday afternoon- me
Third batch: 10pm onwards- Josh

Sorry not at more convenient times but we are all really busy this weekend!

Posted by: Jonjo 3rd February 2017, 05:19 PM

Ahh!

My plans are all up in the air atm. I don't want to say I will do something, to then have something organised haha! Sorry </3
