Saw this again tonight. I'm really sad that this won't be winning any of the major awards at the Oscars. sad.gif It really deserves the main awards it is nominated for.

Also, the (sold out) screen clapped at the end! Such a bizarre feeling after the way the film ends, but at the same time, it was nice to see such a great response to it!

So this is the first film I've watched in a LONG time - it's not even my typical kinda thing but I'd heard such good stuff about it that I just had to give it a watch, with the DVD now out. It was a really enjoyable watch from start to finish, with both leads being exceptional in their roles. Timothée shined in particular as Elio, he gave such a great and convincing performance and even though the ending wasn't what I was rooting for, it felt somewhat fitting. The scene with Elio and his father at the end was my favourite moment, heartwarming and I'm so glad that Elio's parents were accepting of his relationship. If I had one criticism.... I found it took a little while to get going, but I think all of that paid off with the emotional ending. Brilliant wub.gif

Just watched this tonight as it's on Sky. I am just in awe at how good it is, I really felt for Elio throughout.

Armie Hammer has come forward suggesting that a sequel is in the works *.*

QUOTE
”It will happen because there are already people working on it and trying to make it happen," he told Variety.

"How much do I know and how much could I tell you are two very different things. I know a lot, but I can't tell you anything."

The sequel will reportedly take place in the early '90s, about five years after the initial time period, and will touch on the AIDS epidemic.

Just in the midst of an LGBT movie binge having watched this and Love, Simon. Definitely lived up to the hype and the father/son scene at the end was beautifully written and performed. Deserved more Oscars tbh but glad it received one at the very least. Great to see a sequel is already in the works also! Interesting to see how the AIDS subject matter is handled.

I wonder what it'll take for an LGBT movie to win Best Picture. Both Brokeback Mountain and this have missed out now. Maybe Boy Erased?
