The limited hooks and lack of upbeat songs make the album mundane.
The singles save the album from been Kylies least enjoyable album.
I fear Kylie's next album could be experimental which is something I don't want from her as albums like Body Language and Kiss Me Once undo the goodwill built up from the great albums before them.

I wouldn't exactly call KMO experimental. Something like Impossible Princess I definitely would though.

But I think she's got a team around her who really know what they're doing now, so I'm not at all worried about whatever direction she goes in.

Kiss Me Once was a huge nest of sounds that delivered very little and delivered half heartidly by Kylie.

Yes, the thing about KMO is it is also production (style) over melody (substance).

Kiss me Once lacked depth and substance and Kylie not fully supporting the project took away even more from the era.
With Body Language it came one album too early. For success purposes Kylie needed to follow Fever with something similar to take advantage of her market gain and then followed with Body Language.
The decline from Fever to Body Language was a huge disappointment that could have been avoided to a lesser extent. The follow up to Fever should have easily achieved double platinum status before it's fade out from the market.

Does it not get boring criticising Kiss Me Once at every opportunity whistle.gif kink.gif

I find it interesting that you say you don’t want Kylie to experiment. Technically that’s what she did to land on the sound she delivered with Golden. When it comes to the music she creates, I would always want her to be authentic to herself and do what her heart desires. She can’t please all her fans all the time (a chunk of the fan base are highly critical of Disco), and she’s likely not always going to get #1s. I’d rather her next album be what she wants it to be, and if it’s “experimental” that would be quite exciting. It’ll be interesting to see which way she goes for her next era.

To be on topic about Body Language, I’m unfamiliar with most of the tracks. I don’t think I’ve given it a full play since 2003 or 2004... I keep intending to listen to every Kylie album, I’ll have to revisit Body Language someday.

Id be happier to see kylie stick to her upbeat material, for me kylie has been on fire with both golden and disco and i hope that continues, the only blip for me was the awful new york city single which i hate. I was initially worried that disco might be a disappointment after golden which was a very solid album but disco blew that worry out the door. Body language was a real disappointment after fever, but i think it was a disappointing album in general no matter what it followed as im not really into that type of music in general. Kiss me once just goes over my head, i didnt really connect much with it. Sometimes albums that are disappointing lead to greater things which has generally happened with kylie, with the albums i was disappointed with the follow up more than made up for it.

Ahh Body Language, i love this album, from star to finish
<3

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but for me Body Language is better than Fever... :X

That's a really interesting opinion as with the music styles on both so so different I've always assumed that a small fraction of fans enjoyed this style from Kylie but a larger amount like myself much preferred Fever.

Body Language: The Disco Edition.
That could potentially improve the standard of the album.

Could be good, I'd like to hear the songs if they were remixed in a fast version.

What a random thought kink.gif

I will say that the Slow remix for Infinite Disco was great though - it's definitely one of her most versatile songs - but nothing ever tops the perfect original for me.

The original slow remains the best but slow has more character than all the other songs on the album. I'd like to hear more new mixes of some of the other tracks to see how they would sound.

Slow Infinite Version made me believe all Body Language should receive the same treatment.

Chocolate is one of the few songs from that time i can say i genuinely like, but it took until i saw it on tour before i liked it, glad this went top 10 for her.

I remember vividly buying both CDs of it on release week, and being unsure whether it would actually make the top 10 for her. I remember being pleasantly surprised when it showed up in the midweeks at #4. 18 years since the Body Language era concluded!

It used to be such a big fave of mine, I still like it but not quite as much as I used to. The vocals on it kinda irritate me these days.

Amazing video. wub.gif

Ya I was worried it would miss the top 10 aswell and break the run of top 10 singles she was having at that time but was happy it safely got there,

I hated the BL era and singles (I remember being shocked that ‘Slow’ made it to #1).

I of course duly bought all the CD singles etc., but the whole project was a let down for me - I have to say I now love the singles, lathe album is another story of course sleep.gif
