We knew CB was working with Zara a couple of months ago during the Rockabye period but to be confirmed as a single is huge!

The current untitled second studio album by British electronic group Clean Bandit is in the making and expected to be released during the first quarter of 2017 via Atlantic Records and Warner Music.

The album serves as follow-up to 2014’s acclaimed debut “New Eyes” and arrives preceded by the lead single “Tears” featuring The X Factor winner Louisa Johnson, released on May 27th.
The second single is the smash number 1 hit “Rockabye” with the collaboration of Sean Paul and Anne-Marie, launched on October 21st. It was leading the chart for the Christmas Number One in the UK, making it the first song not an X Factor winners’, charity, or stunt song to be such since 2003.

Is also confirmed that the album will appear the anticipated collaboration with Marina and the Diamonds called “Disconnect“, debuted live during their Coachella’s set on April 10th, 2015. A re-worked version of the track has been made along Nile Rodgers.
The third single from the project is called “Symphonies” and includes the guest collaboration of Swedish pop star Zara Larsson. It’s expected to be released sometime in March.

HOLY. SHIT.

YESYESYES! COME THROUGH CLEAN BANDARA!

Posted by: mr_pmt 17th February 2017, 08:59 PM

Could be good!

I'm just wanting that long awaited studio version of 'Disconnect', it's all I really care about.

Posted by: mdh 17th February 2017, 09:25 PM

Yeah, this'll be a certain #1 tongue.gif So so excited though, and judging by the title Clean Bandit will be including some orchestral elements - so fingers crossed this is Rather Be-esque in a sense, but more upbeat and summery.

Posted by: The Wise Sultan 17th February 2017, 09:50 PM

Hopefully with the title Symphonies, there can be a return to orchestral influence. Please not tropical like Rockabye though. I hope it is anpther disco influenced dance track, like Tears or Stronger.

If the title Symphonies is taken literally though I am imagining a progressive house or even trance track with an orchestral style backing with buildups and climaxes, which would be nice too.

Or it could be in relation to the lyrical content...

Yes Zara Larsson I can imagine singing 'Our love is like symphonies' as the main line or something like that.

I think it will have significantly more classical influence than Rockabye with that title too.

I am excited about Disconnect. The original was a disco house song iirc which liked (must listen to it again) biggrin.gif

EDIT: Just heard Disconnect, what a tune, definitely needs to be a single!

Posted by: The Wise Sultan 17th February 2017, 10:23 PM

Can we merge the two threads please? biggrin.gif

Song to cry on, it won't be a lively disco influenced dance record like Tears or Stronger then (which I was hoping for) sadly.

Its Clean Bandit so it will be dance, but I am imagining something a bit like Perfect Strangers with its sentimental type lyrics, with some sad violins in the background.

Its a disappointment it sounds like it is going to be a chilled record. We have had enough chilled songs in the charts recently without the usually lively Clean Bandit joining in!

Posted by: Jonjo 21st February 2017, 11:58 PM

Something similar to Robyn's 'With Every Heartbeat' or 'Dancing On My Own' if we're talking dancefloor bawlers!

Yes, future bass is now as everywhere in the charts as tropical house was a few months ago. sleep.gif

Future bass with violins in the drop rather than the usual high pitched vocals and synths would be different and interesting though, Clean Bandit might do that, especially as there were nice saxophone sounds in place of the usual generic future bass drop in Zara's Ain't My Fault.

Posted by: Liаm 22nd February 2017, 06:28 PM

Lmao watch it just sound like Closer like everything else nowadays drama.gif

I'd prefer Lindsey Stirling to slay us with smth like that, probably her strings wrapped in future bass will be bearable and even nice.
NOT Zara's voice.

oh wow, posts from someone who heard Zara's album and the song:

I would say that from three singles that Clean Bandit released from upcoming album (2 out, third is Zara's), the Zara's one is the best. I am huge fan of Rather Be and I would say that even beat RB. The Zara's song.

omg, i'm so excited now w00t.gif w00t.gif

Sounds good that it may be a more lively dance track, we definitely need one of those in the charts, with so many chilled dance tracks at the minute.

Posted by: The Wise Sultan 8th March 2017, 12:57 AM

Sounds great. Will Zara's vocal be distorted like this on the full version as the vocal sounds quite good like this.

Posted by: Bjork 8th March 2017, 06:55 AM

so this is out next Friday as single + on Zara's album too?

Posted by: mdh 8th March 2017, 08:37 AM

I doubt the proper version will sound like that lmao - it sounds like one of those awful K-Pop BJSC entries from the snippet but I doubt there'll be any distortion in the CDQ version.

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 8th March 2017, 08:45 AM

It's track 15 on Zara's record. It's a big song. More similar sonically to 'Rather Be' than 'Rockabye'

Doesn't sound as big as Rockabye, but probably has a shot at #1.

Posted by: mr_pmt 9th March 2017, 09:03 PM

I really like it! biggrin.gif Builds effectively, and it's emotive. (a first time I can really say that about Zara).

Posted by: Stu1985 9th March 2017, 10:48 PM

Love this! This should slay!

Posted by: jase. 9th March 2017, 11:44 PM

I prefer Rockabye but it's good!

Posted by: cqmerqn 9th March 2017, 11:54 PM

This is pretty much right in the middle of Rather Be and Tears! I like the 'ah-ah' towards the end. It's most likely going to debut top 5, perhaps even top 3.

Posted by: The Wise Sultan 10th March 2017, 12:46 AM

Heard it. It does need more of a drop for the first chorus it kind of builds up into nothing. The only chorus I feel is long enough is the last one.

Having said that it is much much better than Rockabye which I didn't like much. I really start liking it about halfway through when the house synths start, the future bass/ trap beat bit is interesting and then it really goes into an uplifting house chorus, although not as disco influenced as the Tears second chorus or the Stronger choruses sadly for funky house-liking me laugh.gif ,but it does have some nice strings and an uplifting vocal from Zara so I am not going to complain!

Posted by: Liаm 10th March 2017, 01:08 AM

This is brilliant, it's clearly going to be massive wub.gif I agree it harks back to classic Clean Bandit but that's no bad thing. I can't compare it to Tears or Rockabye yet because they were so amazing and among my faves of 2016, but this is certainly amazing.

Posted by: PAJ88 10th March 2017, 01:38 AM

Posted by: djgrafdemon 10th March 2017, 04:37 PM

i can't even swear (as I usually do a lot laugh.gif ) after hearing this! So tremendously weightless and... okay, no more spoilers.

Posted by: mr_pmt 11th March 2017, 03:45 PM

I'm LOVING this! wub.gif Potentially challenging for their best single for me. ohmy.gif

Posted by: cqmerqn 13th March 2017, 01:27 AM

After a few listens I'd say that this has a shot at debuting at #1. Zara's vocal is flawless and it just sounds like something the UK will love.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 16th March 2017, 03:41 PM

It could grow on me but I have to say I much prefer Rockabye. Still waiting for the day they do another song similar to Come Over or Telephone Banking, but I guess they're too mainstream for that sad.gif

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 16th March 2017, 04:15 PM

Zara Larsson's vocal is awesome, but the music is a bit dull so I am waiting for it to click on me.

Posted by: danG 17th March 2017, 08:18 AM

This is great! Doesn't sound as big as Rockabye but should be another big hit for them anyway.

Incredible video and really fitting to the song.

It fits lyrically but there's definitely a juxtaposition between the melody and the video. It was a bit unusual at first but, since the video is more hopeful towards the end, it is effective.

Ew! (I hate dolls lmao, like I have a huge fear of them lmao)

This song is absolutely gorgeous and in such a big way too! Loving it so much! The video is nice, but I agree with Liam in regards to the weird juxtaposition of it all lol.

Posted by: Jade 17th March 2017, 02:42 PM

Am I the only one not feeling this? ohmy.gif I REALLY want to like it because Clean Bandit rarely put a foot wrong and I like Zara too. But something about the chorus is quite off-putting, I think it's her vocals which sound like they're being pushed too hard or something. We'll see if it grows on me when it's inevitably everywhere anyway kink.gif But for now a lil disappointed after how amazing 'Rockabye' was. The one good thing is the production though, which does feel very Clean Bandit after 'Rockabye' was a bit of a departure from the strings.

Posted by: Tinasha 17th March 2017, 02:43 PM

Not feeling it hugely either, Jade sad.gif I bought it though to try and end the beige fest at the top of the charts.

Tears > Rockabye > Symphony.

Zara's voice is so perfect for it and she looks stunning in the video

Posted by: Hayzayy 17th March 2017, 09:31 PM

Oh I'm not really liking it on first listen...
Of course it might change but usually CB songs never miss so I don't know what to make of it.
I find Zara's voice way to high on some parts and kind of off key, she's not really matching the melody. sad.gif

So Clean Bandit can make Zara Larsson sound good? ohmy.gif Am quite enjoying this on first listen, not quite up there with Rockabye, but they seem to be going back up in my estimations after fearing they'd permanently sold out.

Posted by: Mart!n 19th March 2017, 08:39 PM

I like most of their singles, the only track I'm not really dead keen on is Rockabye, but I would love a greatest hits album from them.

Posted by: danG 19th March 2017, 08:41 PM

a greatest hits album? this early in their career laugh.gif

can't wait for their 2nd studio album tbh.

I was just saying... as their singles so far have been damn good. I'm hoping they will collaborate with Tanya Lacey at some point, the girl from The Voice that lost out on a semi place.

Posted by: 360Jupiter 20th March 2017, 10:47 AM

I don't think the video suits the song. I like the song to listen to, but I've not warmed to the two together at all, it puts a downer on the song.

They should've done a more Jess Glynne style happy video I think, especially as its a release at this time of year.

Posted by: WallIsSoGood 20th March 2017, 10:52 AM

The video fits the song perfectly! The concept is beautiful!

Posted by: Inna Selez 20th March 2017, 07:53 PM

Love this track so much. Give Oscar to the video. dance.gif

Posted by: jase. 20th March 2017, 08:10 PM

Yeah the video + song go really well together.

This has really grown on me. The melody is gorgeous!

Anyone heard the MK Remix? Completely rips off MK's own remix of Rudimental's Powerless right down to the chopped up vocal laugh.gif

Posted by: lewistgreen 18th June 2017, 02:19 PM

Some better remixes have been put out over recent weeks:

I haven't properly enjoyed a remix of this but that Dash Berlin one is pretty replayable biggrin.gif

Clean Bandit are performing this with Zara at the EMAs! 12th November!

Posted by: leewallace 30th October 2017, 10:39 PM

EMA doesn’t really have a massive affect but it would be good to see it go back top 50 on iTunes!

Posted by: Cameron 30th October 2017, 10:57 PM

Excited for it!

This song is being used as the music to this year's christmas presentation on BBC One. Video is on Twitter now but if you are watching on TV, expect it to see after Strictly.

idk but 'Symphony' just jumped almost 100 positions on iTunes and it's TOP 10 again in Ireland.
can't wait for the YEC, i think it will end up at #3 or #4. cool.gif

Posted by: SameBoy 2nd December 2017, 11:08 PM

#43 and #399 on iTunes now biggrin.gif

Posted by: TheGrinch 3rd December 2017, 12:44 AM

I’m guessing it will probably outsell Lush Life, but she will get another brits nomination which will be incredible! I just hope it manages to re climb into the top 40 once it’s added to more playlists etc

Posted by: SameBoy 3rd December 2017, 01:28 AM

About the Brit Awards.... do you think 'Symphony' has a chance to win something? i mean... the song will probably get nominated for Best Video and Best single of the year. I think the video has a good chance.

Ed Sheeran will snatch both of those I assume drama.gif

It's managed to reclimb to #8 on Irish iTunes and I'm not even sure if they air Strictly ohmy.gif.

It's still #42 on UK iTunes and could climb top 30 on iTunes if it's used during Stictly and Blue Planet (is that on tonight?) tonight. It's #122 so it should hopefully manage to remain in the top 40 for the remainder of the year.

It’s climbed to #66 in the official charts.

Disappointed not to see it reduced to 59p as it could have went close to renege ring the top 10 on iTunes!

Posted by: SameBoy 11th December 2017, 12:44 AM

Back to TOP 20 on iTunes with big dark green updates!

Posted by: TheGrinch 11th December 2017, 06:58 PM

Up to #34 in midweeks!

YES! Get those Christmas dollars queen!

Posted by: Mistletheo 11th December 2017, 10:58 PM

Has it been taken off ACR to be charting so high? Impressive either way, it's such a tune and works really well in the BBC ad. Any word on if Zara will perform it with Clean Bandit on Christmas/New Year's TOTP?

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 11th December 2017, 11:55 PM

This is firmly up there with my favourites of the year. Just magnificent.

Posted by: TheGrinch 16th December 2017, 03:18 PM

Climbed to #44 in the official charts, it’s falling on iTunes, such a shame it wasn’t reduced to 59p 🙁

'Symphony' currently 7th in best music video behind 'New Rules', really shocking that 'Touch' and 'Strip Me Down' are seen as better music videos, it really shouldn't be a public vote.

"Symphony" by Clean Bandit feat. Zara Larsson now has over 600 MILLION views on YouTube. This is Clean Bandit’s second & Zara’s first video to achieve this.

Remember to vote for ‘Symphony’ and help it manage to at least beat ‘Shape Of You’ it’s shocking that ‘Touch’ is probably going to win video of the year

Posted by: Frooot 8th February 2018, 09:22 PM

Looking likely that it's going to finish the seventh biggest video in the UK which is a great shame because it deserves so much more sad.gif Keep voting and help it overtake 'Shape Of You' (Even though, I've not tweeted once) x

Posted by: Frooot 21st February 2018, 09:01 PM

'Symphony' never won best British single sad.gif

Posted by: Wall 31st May 2019, 03:55 PM

“Symphony” is now certified 3x Platinum (1,800,000) in the United Kingdom. The song peaked at #1 there and spent over a year on the official songs chart! 💿🇬🇧

Hopefully it gets some boost down the line, so close to 2milloon *.*

Symphony is incredibly close to 1.9m now, so expect this to pass 2m hopefully by the end of the year if it gets some sort of boost.

It’s also being covered on the new Children In Need album, we love a TiMELESS CLASSIC.

Posted by: Wall 12th December 2019, 05:18 PM

Symphony is currently the 56th biggest song of the decade with 1.84m sales

I love the rearrangement of the middle 8 and final chorus. It’s very cute! The stability of this song on iTunes and Apple Music has been great too! I can see it constantly being used in reality shows and it’s close to 1billion streams and 1billon views on Youtube!

Posted by: Cameron 29th May 2020, 11:50 PM

Becky Hill sang for her life on this! She needs to be on a song with Clean Bandit.

Zara sounded fab, as did Connor Mason.

Posted by: Dobbo 30th May 2020, 09:56 AM

That's a good call, a Clean Bandit & Becky Hill collab is 100% what the world needs!
