32. Snow Patrol - Eyes Open

Almost the best album of 2006, and home to uber-mega hit Chasing Cars and the stunning Set The Fire To The Third Bar. The recent follow up isn't much cop sad.gif

Chasing Cars:

'Would you lie with me and just forget the world?'

31. Blur - Blur

Luckily the album is much more innovative and classy than the lazy title! Woooo Hoooooo at Song 2, Beetlebum and Death of A Party. Booo hooo at On Your Own - oh dear, Blur, oh dear.

Song 2:

'I feel like heavy metal'

Pick of the album tracks: Death Of A Party

30. Massive Attack - Mezzanine

Massive Attacks previous two albums, Blue Lines and Protection were a little inconsistent, but with Mezzanine (released in 1998), the Bristol trio finally made an album that flows well with the use of samples and synthesizers. Teardop is just amazing - and the video has a singing foetus!

Teardop:

'Love, love is a verb'

Pick of the album tracks: Exchange

29. The Strokes - Is This It?

This just grabbed me from nowhere in Summer 2001 - I bought it on a whim as it was really cheap in FOPP and I still love nearly every track on the album. Shame their follow up was disappointing....

Last Night:

'Your girlfriends they can't understand'

Pick of the album tracks: New York City Cops

28. Royksopp - Melody AM

An obscure(ish) compliation album - The Album 3 - first got me into Royksopp as the track Eple was one of the standout tracks. A swift purchase of the album later and I fell for yet another chillout/electronic album. Another album that flows very well through gorgeous melodies such as Poor Leno and So Easy (which has been used in a few adverts).

Poor Leno:

'Never be alone'

Pick of the album tracks: Sparks

27. Kylie Minogue - Light Years

A total change of music style and this is the only pure pop album in my countdown! I firmly believe that this is Kylie's best ever album - camp to the extreme, cheesier than the babybel factory and pure pop brilliance. I think this my gay side asserting itself heehee.gif She will never top this, but who cares? YOUR DISCO NEEDS YOU!

Your Disco Needs You:

'We're sold on vanity, but that's so see through'

Pick of the album tracks: Loveboat

26. Gorillaz - Demon Days

The Gorillaz really hit their peak in 2005 - a number 1 album and single, plus this contains my favourite song of the 00s so far - Feel Good Inc. Gotta love that windmill!

Feel Good Inc:

'Windmill windmill for the land, turn forever hand in hand'

Pick of the album tracks: Last Living Souls

25. Blur - Modern Life Is Rubbish

Back when I was pretty young and musically naive, Blur saved me and helped mould my musical taste ohmy.gif Parklife awakened my love of rock and indie music, and when I was waiting for the follow up to Parklife to be released, I deciced to buy their 1993 flop album. I can see why Modern Life Is Rubbish was a flop - released 2 years after Leisure and on the back of 2 flop singles. But, this one has cunning made me fall for its hidden charms and I consider this the second best Blur album.

For Tomorrow:

'So we hold each other tightly'

Pick of the album tracks: Star Shaped

24. Amy Winehouse - Back To Black

They tried to take her to rehab, and she said 'Nuh-uh'. Before becoming a total crackwhore, Amy made the utterly gorgeous motown influenced Back To Black - I do hope she gets her act together and makes a follow even half as good. There are so many standout tracks - all the singles and album tracks Me and Mr Jones and Some Unholy War.

Back To Black:

'We only said goodbye with words'

Pick of the album tracks: Me and Mr Jones

23. Air - Pocket Symphony

Air's fifth album was released in summer 2007, and marked a superb return to form. I think most people on BJ know about my love of the French knob-twiddlers, and this is the lowest placed of 3 albums in my top 50. I am sure it will rise the next time I compile this! Album track Photograph is just superb, btw if anyone wants to look it up!

Once Upon A Time:

'Don't try to run after time'

Pick of the album tracks: Photograph
