BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Friday Chart Predictions (Thurs Update + Top 5 Sales)

Posted by: Mart!n 3rd October 2015, 08:27 AM

Here we go... the #1 single looks likely to change yet again, R. City are looking to claim their first #1 with their debut hit 'Locked Away' collaborating with Adam Levine unless Sam Smith manages another week at the top. New entries from Phillip George & Anton Rogers on 'Alone No More', Natalie La Rose on 'Around the World' collaborating with Fetty Wap, The Vamps on 'Wake Up', Tinashe on 'Player' collaborating with Chris Brown, Olly Murs on 'Kiss Me', Miley Cyrus on 'Hands On Love' and probably Jamie Lawson with 'Wasn't Expecting That'.

Rudimental are looking to oust Disclosure from the #1 spot with their brand new studio album 'We The Generation', other new album releases this week from Avicii 'Stories', Janet Jackson 'Unbreakable', Clutch 'Psychic Warfare', Trivium 'Silence in the Snow', Editors 'IN DREAM' and Squeeze 'Cradle to the Grave' all vying for a place inside the top 40 chart.

@MintRoyale: Have The Vamps had a number 1 single before? They look like they could this week.

@MintRoyale: Rudimental look like they'll have a number 1 album at least as big as Disclosure last week. Then it's Editors and Janet.

@MintRoyale: Disclosure down to 10 - honestly think that'll just sink without trace now.

Posted by: Adam's Stories😍 3rd October 2015, 10:08 AM

Avicii and Phillip to slay please smile.gif

Posted by: PaulM1983 3rd October 2015, 10:11 AM

Judging by the MASSIVE increases Sam is getting at the moment, my money's on him. The Vamps are only 5k ahead so that lead will be gone in no time.

Posted by: Mart!n 3rd October 2015, 10:28 AM

I don't think the Vamps will get there to be honest, they seem to be 5k clear as it seems, reading between the lines, considering its only 1 day of sales that will soon drop off a fair bit. Sam Smith could still get a second week, just depends on his streaming sales.

Rudimental's album will probably do the same as Disclosure did.

Posted by: AcerBen 3rd October 2015, 10:29 AM

The Vamps don't have a prayer considering they're #12 on iTunes and going down. They just had decent pre-orders.

Posted by: liamk97 3rd October 2015, 10:30 AM

Wow at Janet at #3! Will likely drop throughout the week but will certainly be a damn sight better than the #63 peaks of her last two studio albums. I believe she is currently touring and, despite flopping, 'No Sleeep' seems to have caught a fair few people's attention which will have no doubt helped.

Posted by: Dobbo 3rd October 2015, 10:54 AM

Yes! That's encouraging for Rudimental then, it would be appalling for Disclosure to get #1 & Rudimental not to. I haven't even listened to either album in full but judging by what's been released so far Rudimental's is leagues better...

Posted by: girl_from_oz 3rd October 2015, 11:17 AM

Wonder where The Squeeze will enter, looks like Avicci isn't going to be number 2 as I predicted he would bw

I only heard the Sam Smith song today. What an unbearable wailing mess.

Posted by: JosephStyles 3rd October 2015, 11:50 AM

Yeah The Vamps definitely won't make #1 but top 10 is looking good, physicals really are a huuuuge help for them.

Mint Royale tweeted a mathematical equation which basically states that the Vamps have sold ~20K so far this week.

Good enough for a Top 10 berth I'd have thought.

Then it's a very very tight tussle for number 1 between Philip George etc., Biebs, R City and Smitho.

Any chance of Nick Jonas entering the top 40 singles this week? sad.gif

Posted by: Doctor Blind 5th October 2015, 10:31 AM

I'd say it's a two-way fight between Biebs and R City - given the others are doing pretty terrible on streaming. Hope it's Biebs just for the lols of returning to #1 twice. biggrin.gif

That's a very good sales tally for the week to date! It took Jess Glynne around 28.6k to make the top 10 at #10 last week so it's looking very likely that The Vamps will make it, as expected biggrin.gif

They've sold the most so far. They also have approx. 20K sales to COP Sunday which does suggest they will debut in the Top 10.

good to see Duke Dumont and MNEK/Zara top 40 in the singles too, both deserve top 40 peaks heart.gif and Philip George #2 as well! biggrin.gif which means it should definitely be another top 10 for him, possibly even top 5?

Posted by: Adam's Stories😍 5th October 2015, 04:56 PM

I wish Phillip George overtaking The Vamps would mean him getting #1 but sadly this probably won't be the case. It has, however, outdone what I initially predicted, low top 10 biggrin.gif

laugh.gif at Sam Smith finally flopping, but ouch at Nick Brewer and Little Mix's big fall ohmy.gif

Hopefully The Duke is in for a top 40 point this week and maybe ZaraNEK; and I'd have that measleyable Watch Me Whip as distant from it as possible. And please tell me Magnets is stream only or something because it's destined to be at least a top 30 hit mad.gif

Why can't Avicii be #1 on albums this week drama.gif

Posted by: Doctor Blind 5th October 2015, 04:59 PM

Both Little Mix and Nick Brewer have fallen 4 places since Friday's chart, hardly a 'big fall'.

Posted by: Mart!n 5th October 2015, 05:04 PM

I would imagine there are sales missing as usual from Apple & Spotify, taken them into consideration, it could be anyone within that top 5. The sales gap has to be very close, between the top 5 tracks.

Posted by: Pusheen 5th October 2015, 05:04 PM

I expected Avicii's album to be #2 with ease this week, very surprised it's not even top 5... though I guess the complete non-happening of 'For A Better Day' hasn't helped it. Great going for Editors so far getting the second highest new entry!

And I spy Sir Joe BonaSMASHa aka Sir Joe BonaMASSIVE at #39 in the album mids *.*

They've sold 20k already, they've not exactly stopped selling entirely either. They will remain top 10 quite safely I'm sure.

Is it really a huge surprise though? It's obvious his popularity has decreased massively this year, I knew this wasn't going top 5.

Avicii drama.gif How on earth is it behind an ancient Ed Sheeran album? So it probably won't even shift 10k on its opening week - absolutely dire.

Interesting battle on the singles chart, any of 2-5 in the update could end up at #1, although possibly more likely the songs at 3-5 as Alone No More's streaming is weak.

Because supermarkets won't take his album off their shelves. They won't stock up on new albums ie Bars & Melody or Fetty Wap but they'll leave Ed Sheeran's year old album on their shelves

Posted by: gooddelta 5th October 2015, 09:52 PM

I was thinking more about how is a well stocked brand new album by a major artist languishing behind an album that's been selling less than 10k a week consistently for the past few months. I thought Avicii would manage a 15k opening at least, even that would have been majorly down on his last opening sale.

I really hope Janet Jackson can stay top 10 but its unlikely but at the worst her position is far better than her previous releases. Sales were so much better when she last released so im thinking, will she gain much of an increase?, anyone know opening sales of her previous albums??

Was shocked to see the Vamps number 1 but i dont mind them at all and i hope they hold on in the top 10 which i think they will manage comfortably.

Shame for Philip, although not surprising. Weird to have another song looking to go to No.1 three times, it doesn't really seem like as much as an achievement as Happy seeing as it almost certainly won't be No.1 on sales and is just taking advantage of no major releases being around to stop it raking in the streams.

Posted by: Mart!n 6th October 2015, 02:49 PM

Its all about the top 4 now, love to see R. City on top, but it seems Justin Bieber is selling 4k more than R. City for yesterday, not forgetting there is a load of stream sales still missing.

Posted by: Pusheen 6th October 2015, 02:52 PM

The Vamps are looking in danger of possibly missing the top 10... they might just about hang on but only at #9/10 at best I think. Will be far higher on sales of course.

Avicii's album looking on course to finish at #9.

Posted by: Hazza Chapman 6th October 2015, 02:56 PM

The Vamps have such a horrible track record on iTunes. If we were still in the days of physical only charts like how it was in the 1990's then probably all of their singles would be #1's.

Posted by: Defaze 6th October 2015, 02:58 PM

At the risk of this being asked before, why is 'Firestone' back? Pretty amusing that it's above the two singles that succeeded it.

Actually, just done some calculations, if everything sold the same for the rest of the week, The Vamps would be #11. Oops. So gonna expect around #14 with missing streaming data added in. Could be worse considering it's OA/OS I guess. (Natalie would be #12)

good to see Justin Bieber holding off R. City from the top, would be great to see another song have 3 separate runs at #1! Also the song is a lot better than Locked Away, I hope that doesn't peak at #1 but I imagine it will climb there next week as I can't see Ben Haenow or Olly Murs debuting at #1.

Also loving seeing Philip George comfortably top 5 and ahead of The Vamps biggrin.gif

The others to spend 3 runs at #1 in the same chart run: Guy Mitchell “Singing The Blues” (1956) and Frankie Laine “I Believe” (1953)

Jamie Lawson MAY just about make the top 40, hard to call. Won't be too far off if not though.

I'm glad you cleared that up for me cos I always assumed that 'Ocean Drive' was just a reworked version of his 'Hold On' song, hence the lyrics 'Hold On' in the chorus. Weird that they're two different songs!

lol, I'm convinced he only called the song Ocean Drive because he already had a Hold On. Why he felt the need to use that phrase prominently in 2 of his songs I don't know, but then again Hold On didn't get a commercial release.

It could be worse though, Leona Lewis has 2 songs called 'I Got You' which are completely unrelated laugh.gif

I did notice that halfway through typing it and was gonna find a way to make it work, but decided to leave it as it is!

Yeah I'm convinced he called it Ocean Drive for that reason too. Hold On would have been a much better title for the song!

I noticed that about Leona the other day too, and Kylie also has two completely unrelated songs called 'Love At First Sight'...

To be honest, it reminds me of the Lighthouse Family which is not a good thing! I'd probably rather the song wasn't called that, but it's still a fab track.

When I first saw it on the release schedule, I did wonder whether it was an ill-advised cover of the Lighthouse Family song laugh.gif
