  Trainee doctor Martha Jones meets the Doctor in series 3 when he's investigating the hospital she works at, a hospital that is later transported to the moon by space rhino police Judoon. Martha links up with the Doctor, and though he's still reeling from losing Rose, he invites Martha to travel with him for just one trip. That one trip turned into at least three before the Doctor finally realised how much Martha had proved herself and invited her permanently. She accompanied him alongside some difficult times, including encounters with the Family of Blood (where Martha lived and worked in the early 20th century while the Doctor was human) and the Weeping Angels, before Martha finally quit the TARDIS, having travelled the Earth to stop the Master. 07.
