This is one of my favorite songs, it deserves being in the top 10.

Posted by: Bert for Lashes 30th December 2009, 02:12 PM

Don't think this would ever work, but I joined the group anyway kink.gif

Posted by: Being Jonjo 30th December 2009, 02:53 PM

We should make this song the campaign song against the XFactor winner next year kink.gif

Imagine how Cheryl would feel if it kept the winner off heehee.gif

This got 100+ supporters in a day since I last checked!

Posted by: SugaRush 30th December 2009, 09:45 PM

Eh, nobody thought the RATM campaign would work but it did in the end so what's to say this one won't work either?

GA have a very strong fanbase and I can actully see this working tbh. I'm all for it, Untouchable is a great song. thumbup.gif

Information about it from GirlsAloudMedia:

----------------------------------------
Girls Aloud to The Top
Because Top 10 records are Untouchable

On 3 May 2009, Girls Aloud last single before the break, an epic dance track called Untouchable from their album Out Of Control failed to enter the top 10 and reached number 11 on the Official UK charts. Till then, the band had managed to get all their singles into the top 10, holding the record of most consecutive top 10 in the story of girlbands. This single, however, broke the path.

The single the label had originally planed to release as the single was Rolling Back The Rivers in Time, but thanks to popular demand from fans, Untouchable was choosen instead. Some think that the single didn't get enough promotion and some think it was not the right track to release. However it may have been, fans played a part on it by choosing it as the single, and now fans want to recover that top 10 record by getting the song to the place it should have been: the top of the charts. But for that, we need your help.

The Plan

The objective is to get Untouchable back on the top 10. To do this, we are going to choose a specific week when we will proceed to download the song and/or its remixes from any download site that count towards the chart.

Guide to Download

The sites that you can use to download the song/remixes that WILL count towards the official charts are:

If you want to buy the song more than once, don't buy it from the same shop. Ie. You want to buy 5 copies, buy one from iTunes, one from 7Digital, one from Play, one from HMV and one from Amazon. If you get the song 5 times into your shopping cart in the same shop, it will only count as ONE SALE and you will have wasted your money.

DON'T start downloading the song until we choose the week. If you download it now it won't have any effect, we all need to download the song at once on the same week.

TESCO DOWNLOADS DON'T COUNT. If you buy the song from there, it won't help the campaign.

It's actually happening!!!

Posted by: Aled. 30th December 2009, 10:37 PM

Ugh. The top 10 record had to end one day and at least it happened with one of their weaker singles....

Posted by: Matt Aloud 31st December 2009, 07:48 PM

Weaker pfff. The radio edit massacred it yes, but the full album version is a thing of beauty heart.gif

Can't see it working sadly but I'll get behind it anyhoo!

Updated. ohmy.gif

Posted by: -Jay- 31st December 2009, 10:29 PM

Although it's had an impressive amount of members join so far, I think it's not being planned very well at the moment. They're already posting download links, but haven't set an official date!

Posted by: Chris. 31st December 2009, 10:32 PM

I think they're waiting till they get enough members to set a date but yeah posting links was a mistake..

That signature is really nice. happy.gif

Posted by: Knightr634 31st December 2009, 10:39 PM

Apparently a radio station will talk to management to regulary play it if they go up to 1500 members - they're on nearly 1100 in a couple of days - so that could be a possibility

Posted by: -Jay- 1st January 2010, 02:04 AM

It definitely needs media backing at any rate. Support of the radio would be a good start, and full support from the label.

Also the FB page could do with a tidy, doesn't look too nice to me!

Posted by: Hitstastic 1st January 2010, 10:57 AM

The irony of this is that 'Untouchable' was released as a single because it was the fans' choice. Ultimately, the song failed to go top 10!!! That's with the song available to download and can't use the excuse "i couldn't buy it on cd".

'Out Of Control' is one of the best pop albums from 2008 and there was only a couple of tracks I didn't think were much cop. 'Untouchable' is a stunning song in its full 7 minute glory. Personally, I think the radio edit was its downfall - it took away everything that made the original so stunning, and replaced it with a bizarre use of filters and vocoder effects on the vocals. This isn't 'Believe' by Cher!!! laugh.gif

That's why I think 'Untouchable' failed to go top 10 first time round. The record company should make a new radio edit using the album version and dub this new edit over the high budget video (the video was fantastic).

I read that they estimate that 23 000 copies need to be in top 10 I think it is very real.

well it depends if everyone does actually buy the single who signs up, we have to be careful of rules like the multiple purchases which could just make the campaign worthless!

Posted by: Tommy 1st January 2010, 07:06 PM

I think that fan base of Girls Aloud is much larger than 23 000. If the campaign will be well planned I'm sure they will succeed.

yes but if thats the case why didn't they all buy the single on its release? then we wouldn't need this campaign!

Well 21,000 people bought it in it's week of release, more than 'The Loving Kind', but just was in a difficult week of release given that the week before and after it would have made the Top 10 with the same sales.

This has grown 300+ everyday and it's only starting off thumbup.gif hopefully a sign for good things!

Because it was 3rd single, and fanbase bought album.

Stupid excuse, if fans weren't bothered enough to buy the physical CD or the digital radio edit the first time around (when it had radio support and a TV performance), I don't see why they would bother taking part in the campaign this time. And anyway, we all know most fans DID buy the CD single and the digital remixes, it's just that the fanbase isn't important enough to buy 25.000 copies in a single week.

and over 2,500 members now

Posted by: Colin 3rd January 2010, 03:45 PM

They've decided the date of downloading/buying to be from January 31st to the 7th - it has 3,500+ people now.

Rachel Adedeji, Girls Can't Catch, Sinetta and JONATHAN ROSS are all supporting it! ohmy.gif

Over 3500 members!!!

Posted by: Being Jonjo 3rd January 2010, 04:11 PM

WOW. Looks like this may work! ohmy.gif

EDIT: Actually. We'll need to see the first two weeks or so of sales, and see how many people will have to buy it to get it into the Top 10. The song is TOO good to be the song to ruin GA's run. We should get them to try for 'Theme to St. Trinians' after kink.gif

Posted by: Lukuzz 3rd January 2010, 04:25 PM

It will be my first ever legal download biggrin.gif hope we can do it!

Posted by: AltheGreat 3rd January 2010, 04:53 PM

I downloaded and bought both the CD single and 7" vinyl so was gutted it missed the top 10.
I pray this works!

It doesn't matter. Sales are ALOT stronger now, than they were last year! Just look at this weeks chart sales (for Sundays chart just gone)... Although there is less competition, people seem to be more and more aware of the downloading sites and stuff. So far they need to sell at LEAST 35k to get into top 10 believe it or not. It's incredibly stronger and harder now than last year!

Posted by: Tommy 5th January 2010, 03:10 PM

This weeks sales are huge becouse of Itunes christmas gift card.
Last year: 4,028,840 This year: 4,220,989 It's only 5% more than last year. Last year number 10 sold 26k, this year maybe 20% more.
Lat year in the first week of February sold 40% less than in Dec/Jan week. I have no idea why you think that sales this year did not decrease in February as compared to Dec/Jan.

Posted by: outlook 6th January 2010, 03:57 PM

Yeah, it's not going to do it. It needs at the very least 1k a day but it's unlikely to hit 7k tonight

7,800 ... and counting dancing.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 9th January 2010, 09:01 PM

If everyone one of those 7,800 and them some randomers purchase in the one week it should get it top 35 at the lowest.

Posted by: Tommy 9th January 2010, 10:02 PM

They have 20 days to start campaign, I don't believe in top 10, but i hope so it will be peak higher than #35, maybe if they will have good first midweek many of them will decide buy second, third... copy of this single.

Posted by: Colin 10th January 2010, 03:30 PM

There's an official campaign video now from the same guy who posted the fanmade video of 'Untouchable' last year that even got more views than the official video and it's brilliant. smile.gif

Adding it to front page now.

Oh come on, the RATM campaign even published on twitter and facebook a way to download the track several times for free and still make it count towards the charts, and the OCC said nothing. I think we've had a proof that the OCC will NEVER take any actions regarding this kind of campaigns.

I don't think this campaign will work anyway.

I think you're wrong. I think it's getting silly and I honestly believe if campaigns like this continue the OCC will find a way of banning them. If 'Untouchable' makes the Top 10 (which it won't) and the group has a very small amount of members compared to the amount of sales, I think something will have to be done. Tbh, Rage should've been banned because they've made much more unreasonable decisions in the past, but at least that group had about as many members as sales tongue.gif

Posted by: Bert for Lashes 11th January 2010, 06:58 PM

I didn't say this campaign wasn't silly, they are ALL silly, and this one just as much as the many others. I'm just saying the OCC won't give a damn. We've had the "text cheats" introduced by McFly in the past, a Girls Aloud stan posting pics of about 20 copies of the same single she bought, and many other examples, and the RATM campaign was just on top of everything, with people who kept saying they were multi buying like crazy on the Facebook page all week long and the RATM leader who publically exaplained how to cheat from his Twitter profile (and many people did complain about it to the OCC). So no, even if "Untouchable" was now #1 for 4 weeks, the OCC wouldn't change a thing. That's all I'm saying.

Posted by: Matt Aloud 11th January 2010, 08:31 PM

nothing wrong with the campaign, if everyone bought the single, album version (as they are THAT different) and a remix or 2 wink.gif Not our fault everything is digital these days smoke.gif

They DO count toward the download charts though, but not the main one so I was told on good authority. So yes their chart eligible but you always have to make crystal clear which chart you mean
