I'm back. It might have taken me a while, you may note that this is starting a month later than it normally does, but we're all ready to go.

Before I go any further, I do have to say one thing, I can't run this all this time, or at least, I can't run it all on a week to week schedule. I'm on holiday in much of August and I plan for most of that to be a good detox from online life. Certainly won't be able to do any adding up. If you know you'll be free during end of July/August, want to do the light task of hosting a round of this or two, let me know in the thread or by PM if you'd prefer. They'd likely be rounds for the later years and semi-finals, so they'll be pretty juicy ones.

As with last year, there will be only one round for each and every year, so if you took part in earlier ROTD's but missed last year, we've done away with the first round, and just pile everything together in one big final.

If you're new, this is basically a huge ranking of songs (any songs, charted or not, but naturally, success trends towards the popular ones), arranged by year and then piled into one big final in the end to claim the ULTIMATE PRIZE. Which even newbies I hope can gather has been won rather a lot by Bad Romance over the years. As it's the last year for that song, I'm theming this year a bit around it. I won't lie to you, I think it's very likely that Bad Romance will take the prize in the end. Which shouldn't influence the votes either way in any noticeable direction, it certainly hasn't before.

This first round, I just want all nominations that are missing from the current lineup that you think you should be in. You get 30 nominations, and can spread them out however you want, but I recommend 3 per year to keep it even and I won't allow any more than 7 for any one year from any one person. Nominations ideally should be like this:

Anything can be nominated, obscure tracks, album tracks, but hits that aren't in the list are the best options for actually getting other people to point them. But by all means try that BJSC hit or a cult classic, I'd love to see some new faces among the successful songs. As long as it was released in the last ten years or had its UK Chart peak in the last 10 years, it's fine (2009 to 2018 ONLY, no nominating any 2019 songs please). A song only needs to be nominated once to get through. You can nominate anything but it may be useful to try and predict what other people like because as much as I love individuality, a song isn't going to make an impact in the yearly rounds with only one person's votes.

Please try and police yourself which year a song is supposed to go in, I will check if it looks suspicious but if I don't know the song I won't. The arbitration on songs go in which year is as such: by release date or UK Chart peak, and the latter trumps the former in most circumstances (my go-to example of an exception is Lady Antebellum's Need You Now, which was released in 2010 but managed a new peak in 2012, but is obviously a 2010 song). Songs released around Dec-Jan are edge cases and can sometimes end up in either year, just go with what feels natural. To check these peaks you can use polyhex or the OCC site by searching the track in question.

The top 35 songs from each year are automatically qualified to save people's nominations for the most popular songs. They will be listed in the post below. I will also add nominated tracks to this post, so Ctrl + F before nominating, and also try and read the nomination posts just above you in case I haven't gotten around to updating the first post yet.

Expect everything to start and update on Sunday afternoons UK time. So you have until this Sunday, that's Sunday 30th June, to give me your nominations for at least the first two years, 2009 and 2010. Years will close as their rounds go up, so you can either get it all out of the way in one go or run the gauntlet and nominate week to week.
