2010s

Albania: Rona Nishliu "Suus" (2012)
The best of a terrible bunch IMO. It was just so unique and weird, though how it managed 5th place is still beyond me - it amused me more than anything laugh.gif

Armenia: Aram MP3 "Not Alone" (2014)
I loved the way this built; it was very of its time but Armenia really trying to be current and contemporary. Not sure I'd say I find Armenia particularly exciting as a Eurovision nation though.

Australia: Dami Im "Sound Of Silence" (2016)
3 good entries: for me it goes Dami, Isaiah, Guy. Dami was incredible, just wow. And also love how a woman of oriental ethnicity representing a country not even in Europe was able to slay and almost win the entire thing!

Austria: Conchita Wurst "Rise Like A Phoenix" (2014)
Well, it had to be, right?! Incredible entry and the victory means so much in so many different ways. I have Trackshittaz sitting in 2nd place for this decade FYI laugh.gif

Azerbaijan: DiHaj "Skeletons" (2017)
I didn't think Safura would be deposed but "Skeletons" was something special, and I'm so impressed in Azerbaijan for sending this. What's more baffling is how it only managed to place in the middle of the pack: fab quirky song, fab quirky interesting performance. It was a strong year though. But I do wonder if Azerbaijan have 'stopped paying for votes'.

Belarus: Anastasia Vinnikova "I Love Belarus" (2011)
Another one I'd lump with Albania as pretty terrible at Eurovision. Though this self-appreciative BANGER was ROBBED of the final - in the most piss poor year of the decade as well! :/

Belgium: Blanche "City Lights" (2017)
Belgium have been incredible this decade. We'll forget "Mother" ever happened ("once again mother, you are my dead mother" - I still hear that, what even are the lyrics?) - "City Lights" is incredible on record. Okay it didn't come across half as epic live, but it's still pretty damned cool.

Bulgaria: Kristian Kostov "Beautiful Mess" (2017)
It was SO close between this and "If Love Was A Crime" - I'm not sure I'm making the right choice here. Bulgaria had been unlucky in their run up until quitting with a few entries JUST missing the final ("Love Unlimited" cruelly robbed, it was such a fun entry, kind of shit but also not that bad somehow?! "Samo Shampioni" however was a din on my ears!)

Croatia: Nina Kraljic "Lighthouse" (2016)
When Croatia came back after a 2 contest absence, I think they showed they meant business with "Lighthouse", and despite its cheesiness, I felt they continued that with the very unique "My Friend". Croatia are ones to watch out for a victory I think in the coming few years. Some countries just have the right approach and they're going in the right direction. Anyway "Lighthouse" was a good entry, though lacked that special something to take it to the next level. I did also actually like "Mizerja" which is probably an unpopular opinion.

Cyprus: Ivi Adamou "La La Love" (2012)
This was a BANGER. Strong year, though with some odd songs making the top 10; this deserved top 5 surely? Cyprus have actually been fairly decent this decade. It'd be lovely to see them win someday soon. Love the country as well! "Fuego" goes straight into 2nd place.

Czech Republic: Gabriela Guncikova "I Stand" (2016)
I really liked how this one built and built and built. Was so pleased it made it to the final. Time will tell as to whether Mikolas Josef can replace her at he top of this list though. Currently seems like a catchy tune but feels 2 dimensional.

Denmark: Chanée & N'evergreen "In A Moment Like This" (2010)
Okay Emmelie de Forest was fantastic but I loved the rousing "In A Moment Like This" from an incredibly strong top end in 2010. What an absolute anthem, gives me Starship style goosebumps.

Estonia: Koit Toome & Laura "Verona" (2017)
"Goodbye To Yesterday" is a SMIDGEON behind: I find myself revisiting "Verona" much more, but both are great. I also loved "Rockefeller Street" from the piss poor 2011: it should've been top 5 if not winner, though its performance rendered it rather 2 dimensional didn't it. Also liked Birgit Oigemeel - hated Tanja's "Amazing" though, ugh! "La Forza" is going to do well I think, but it's not really my thing.

Finland: Pernilla Karlsson "Nar Jag Blundar" (2012)
This song was just beautiful AF wub.gif I'm so sad it missed out on the final. Ditto "Blackbird" by Norma John which I wasn't too fussed with until I saw their incredible performance of it. It's hard to place Saara Aalto "Monsters" ahead of these JUST yet because there's so much emotion attached to them, but it's likely. It is pretty epic. I think it could win this year.

France: Madame Monsieur "Mercy" (2018)
One of this year's entries! France have really upped their game. This Christine & The Queens-esque track is just so addictive. And I LOVE "Requiem" and "J'ai Cherché", and enjoy "Allez Ola Olé" and "Moustache". Anggun, Amandine Bourgeois and Lisa Angell's entries are ones to forget.

Georgia: Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz "Midnight Gold" (2016)
YES at this entry! So out of the norm for something like this to get in let alone get to the final. Find it really weird that g:son was involved though?! "Shine", "Waterfall" and "Warrior" are also decent enough. "Three Minutes To Earth" was fun for being quirky - but it was also bloody awful - as was "I'm A Joker"!!!

Germany: Lena "Satellite" (2010)
Such an obvious choice. What a great way to kick off the decade and give all of the big 5 hope in making their own mark like this in the modern day contest. Any of us CAN win it with the right song.

Greece: Koza Mostra ft Agathonas Iakovidis "Alcohol Is Free" (2013)
It got to the point we felt we could rely on Greece for a banger of an entry, then the 2010s came. They've had some okay entries: the best is the energy filled "Alcohol Is Free".

Hungary: ByeAlex "Kedvesem" (Zoohacker Remix) (2013)
Hungary are fairly solid and haven't missed a final in any contest they've competed in in the 2010s which is some going after a fairly disastrous 2000s! I love this Hungarian language offering "Kedvesem" from 2013. I think it meant something to me on odd levels as my old bf Alex passed away earlier that year and the artist name was creepily relevant! Kati Wolf's "What About My Dreams" was robbed of a good result :/ 2011 was weird.

Iceland: Greta Salóme "Hear Them Calling" (2016)
After their near-victory in 2009 with the incredible "Is It True" Iceland seem to have gone backwards a bit. They continued their finals streak with some fairly average entries (Hera Bjork massively deserved it of course) before it started going tits up. "Hear Them Calling" missing the final is one of the decade's big injustices. My 2nd favourite, miraculously, is "Paper" from Svala last year. It feels like they've given up with this year's entry. Oh and I loved "Eg A Lif"!

Ireland: Niamh Kavanagh "It's For You" (2010)
Ireland have had a torrid decade, topped off by the fact their star performers are the one and only Jedward. It's an incredibly embarrassing fall from grace after their 1990s domination. For the record I do enjoy "Lipstick" though. Poor cute Brendan last year had such a strange entry to wail through last year. Hope our neighbours can pick it up soon but let's be honest, they're as clueless as we are right now.

Israel: Nadav Guedj "Golden Boy" (2015)
Come on, this was a hell of a load of fun! Israel may be en route to another victory in the coming few years I reckon. They've had some decent entries this decade: "Time", "Same Heart" (both deserved the final really) plus of course "Made Of Stars" and "I Feel Alive". "Rak Bishvilo" however is one of my least favourites of the decade, blegh.

Italy: Il Volo "Grande Amour" (2015)
This was just huge. So glad they've come back. "Occidentali's Karma" is a close 2nd.

Latvia: Justs "Heartbeat" (2016)
Hmm I found Latvia a bit difficult early in the decade. Aminata's "Love Injected" seemed to re-inject some zest into their attempt at Eurovision, though personally I found it a warbling mess. Remember though, beautiful song is on the radio!!!

Lithuania: Donny Montell "Waiting For This Night" (2016)
The less said about "Attention" by Vilija and *forgets its title it was that bad" by Fusedmarc the better. Two of the worst entries this decade. Lithuania are in the same league as Albania and Belarus.

Macedonia: Jana Burceska "Dance Alone" (2017)
Macedonia are also with Albania, Belarus and Lithuania in 'that league'. Only "Dance Alone" and sort of "Dona" are worth mentioning this decade.

Malta: Ira Losco "Walk On Water" (2016)
Easy choice, though I liked "Waiting For This Night" and "Coming Home".

Moldova: Sunstroke Project "Hey Mamma!" (2017)
Liked this a lot from the moment I heard it, but was shocked it managed as high as 3rd place in the final! So deserved. Catchy af. They'd been through a terrible patch of entries too.

Montenegro: Knez "Adio" (2015)
One of my favourite former Yugoslav entries. Love the way it builds. Not too fussed otherwise sorry.

Netherlands: The Common Linnets "Calm After The Storm" (2014)
Well this was incredible. Netherlands really picked up form from Anouk onwards - Joan Franka was good progress back to that. I hope to see a Dutch victory before long.

Norway: Margaret Berger "I Feed You My Love" (2013)
Fantastic entry, so quirky and daring really. Norway have been very hit and miss this decade.

Poland: Donatan & Cleo "My Słowianie" (2014)
What's not to love about Polish dairy ghetto??!! Poland will probably win this contest when they send something top 5 worthy.

Portugal: Salvador Sobral "Amar Pelos Dois" (2017)
An obvious choice but big shout out to Suzy's "Quero Ser Tua" and to "O Jardim" by Claudia this year.

Romania: Paula Seling & Ovi "Playing With Fire" (2010)
Such a catchy banger! Loved everything about this. Loved "Mandinga" too. Once they get their act together again they're in with a shot of victory easily.

Russia: Sergey Lazerev "You Are The Only One" (2016)
JUST edges Polina Gagarina because this became a karaoke favourite of mine though I had to lower it by 2 or 3 keys. Actually appreciated just how difficult that song is to sing - let alone perform with that routine he had!!! It's ironic really: this probably didn't win because it's Russia, but Russia get votes because they're Russia so we barely see them outside the top 10!!!

San Marino: Valentina Monetta "Crisalide" (2013)
Probably the obvious choice... but I didn't know that I was falling for you

Serbia: Milan Stankovic "Ovo Je Balkan" (2010)
I loved this energetic Balkan anthem! They haven't come close since ("In Too Deep" 2nd best). It almost feels like they've given up. Milan's hair though, wtf

Slovenia: Maraaya "Here For You" (2015)
I haven't really loved anything from Slovenia this decade. I went crazy for Hannah Mancini's "Straight Into Love" initially though. That fell flat didn't it!!!

Spain: Pastora Soler "Quédate Conmigo" (2012)
It was so close between this and "Dancing In The Rain" but you can't not choose this one. It was amazing. 10th place was a great result but equally it deserved top 3. I doubt Spain can send better than this. Also really liked "Contigo Hasta El Final", "Amanecer" and "Say Yay!"

Sweden: Loreen "Euphoria" (2012)
Probably the number 1 of the decade let's be honest. Sweden are so strong, I love it.

Switzerland: TAKASA "You And Me" (2013)
The Swiss need to really think this through. They keep sending 6/10 ish entries (okay "Apollo" was a little better) and it's getting them absolutely nowhere. But I loved "You And Me" - so catchy!

Ukraine: Jamala "1944" (2016)
Well I'd have said "Gravity" but I have grown to love this one. I can totally see how it won. It's so moving. I get shivers whenever I watch it back. I have Ukraine billed as the Sweden of the east.

United Kingdom: Molly "Children Of The Universe" (2014)
We need to pick up our game. I did also really like "I Can" by Blue and "Still In Love With You" by Electro Velvet (yes, really!) and also did Engelbert's offering on karaoke a number of times laugh.gif

Oh fun, let me reassess before finally catching up on this year's songs:

Albania 2012 - Rona Nishliu - Suus - the socially acceptable option although Identitet is a hair's breadth behind it.
Armenia 2016 - Iveta Mukuchyan - LoveWave
Australia 2015 - Guy Sebastian - Tonight Again
Austria 2012 - Trackshittaz - Woki mit deim Popo - idk, this, Conchita and Zoe are all about at the same level but this one is just so fun.
Azerbaijan 2015 - Elnur Huseynov - Hour Of The Wolf
Belarus 2017 - Naviband - Story Of My Life
Belgium 2003 - Urban Trad - Sanomi - about the only Belgian entry I love in a sea of entries that everyone else adores and that leave me completely cold
Bulgaria 2007 - Elitsa & Stoyan - Water
Croatia 2017 - Jacques Houdek - My Friend - deference paid to Don't Ever Cry and Marija Magdalena of course but 21st century Croatia was a bit average until this.
Cyprus 2016 - Minus One - Alter Ego
Czech Republic 2015 - Marta Jandova & Vaclav Noid Barta - Hope Never Dies
Denmark 2011 - A Friend In London - New Tomorrow - about the best we can hope for from the Heart FM of Eurovision, with 2010 just behind, but I guess Rasmussen may make its way up there.
Estonia 2012 - Ott Lepland - Kuula - really hard! Considered 2005, the whole of 2009-2013, 2015 and 2017 for this.
Finland 2006 - Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah
France 2011 - Alma - Requiem
Georgia 2011 - Eldrine - One More Day
Germany 1994 - MeKaDo - Wir Geben Ne Party - why not I guess? Lena and (more controversially) Gracia are close though.
Greece 2014 - Freaky Fortune - Rise Up
Hungary 2005 - NOX - Forogj, Vilag!
Iceland 2012 - Greta Salome & Jonsi - Never Forget
Ireland 1996 - Eimear Quinn - The Voice
Israel 1995 - Liora - Amen
Italy 2015 - Il Volo - Grande Amore
Latvia 2008 - Pirates Of The Sea - Wolves Of The Sea - genuinely these days! such a rousing anthem
Lithuania 2017 - Fusedmarc - Rain Of Revolution - after 17 dismal entries, Lithuania finally achieved an entry I wanted to root for!
Macedonia 2010 - Gjoko Taneski, Billy Zver & Pejčin - Jas ja imam silata
Malta 2002 - Ira Losco - 7th Wonder
Moldova 2013 - Aliona Moon - O Mie
Montenegro 2013 - Who See & Nina Žižić - Igranka
Netherlands 2014 - The Common Linnets - Calm After The Storm
Norway 2005 - Wig Wam - In My Dreams - while I love 10s Norway a lot of the time, I 'miss' (given I wasn't actually watching it then) entries like these from Eurovision. My top 3 from Norway are all in years ending in '5' actually, that's curious (and no, Bobbysocks is nice but not that good).
Poland 2006 - Ich Troje - Follow My Heart
Portugal 2010 - Filipa Azevedo - Ha Dias Assim
Romania 2016 - Ovidiu Anton - Moment Of Silence - all pedants, shush
Russia 2009 - Anastasiya Prikhodko - Mamo
San Marino 2013 - Valentina Monetta - Crisalide (Vola)
Serbia 2008 - Jelena Tomasevic - Oro
Slovenia 2007 - Alenka Gotar - Cvet Z Juga - anyone thinking I was going to pick Narodnozabavni, it has to get past this operatic beauty (and maybe a couple of others) first
Spain 2013 - ESDM - Contigo Hasta El Final
Sweden 1996 - One More Time - Den Vilda - Waterloo, Euphoria, When Spirits Are Calling My Name, The Worrying Kind and La Voix are the others in contention but I think my love for new-age pop wins out, I don't always love Sweden, much less so recently but obviously they have huge highlights hidden in the lineup.
Switzerland 2005 - Vanilla Ninja - Cool Vibes
Ukraine 2004 - Ruslana - Wild Dances
United Kingdom 1998 - Imaani - Where Are You?

I love it when a song that criminally didn't qualify for the final, makes it onto someones list of favourites. I'd expect to see the absolute gems such as Crisalide and Verona, but this one jumped out :
