It sounds really good on first listen. That chorus
I didn't mind Ultraviolence at all. There were plenty of tracks I don't listen to now but I still enjoy 'West Coast', 'Shades Of Cool', 'Ultraviolence', 'Brooklyn Baby' and 'Florida Kilos' (the bonus track). I am really loving 'I Don't Wanna Go' which is floating around on Youtube at the moment. I think it's just one of the many tracks that she's made a demo of in the past, but it's so good. |

Just had a listen in full, it's OK and has more of a "hook" as such than most of Ultraviolence did (I can't remember anything on there bar West Coast and even then that just had a few more listens to benefit it). It still feels really disappointing though and it's almost like she couldn't be bothered. She's capable of better

I dont think I like her. I thought I did. The song is perfectly fine but does nothing for me.

This is giving me West Coast vibes which can only be good! I was kinda hoping for a more Born To Die-ish sound but this is surprisingly great nevertheless.

Apparently the video is out in under an hour and it features Lana taking down a helicopter with that huge gun

i'm confused, it's almost an identical song to 'off to the races' but the reduced to clear one
this is barely album material let alone lead single. i mean do her, her manager, her A&R not here the obvious? |

Great video.
Is a commentary at media? |

Best part of the video is when her dress gets stuck in the rails, ha!
I don't see it as a commentary at the media, the media hasn't written about her in ages. Comes across more like a desperate cry for attention. "I'm still here! I'm still relevant! Look at me with a controversial song title and a controversial music video to prove it!". BAH, shame really "Born To Die" had some great moments in it. |

AMAZING.
And I refuse anyone who says "Ultraviolence" is shit. While not as good as her previous, it's still solid. |

I kinda like the beat in the chorus but this is such a nondescript song (and video), I fail to take it seriously. Hopefully she has something much better on her album.

I really like the song and video. It's a solid 8/10 for my Lana single ratings. With 'Born to Die', 'Ride' being 10/10 quality. National Anthem being 11/10. 'West Coast' is about a 7.5...So this is just a little better than that for me.

I could not be less excited for this. It's just a retread of the same material over and over and over again. The single does absolutely nothing for me and the video somehow manages to make the shooting of a helicopter rather bland and unexciting. I pretty much just want her to stop if she's going to continue along these lines, it's tainting my love for her first album. :/

While i agree completely... for some reason it just works for me. And I'm not that way with any other artist. It's not EXCITING, but still does the trick. Idk it's hard to explain.
TBH, I'd really love for this album to be filled with "Off To The Races", "National Anthem" and "Diet Mountain Dew' carbon copies. Upbeat seductive not on Valium Lana, is the best Lana. |

I'm really growing to love this single as one of Lana's very best. It doesn't quite have the depth of some of her finest like 'Ride', 'Born to Die' or 'Brooklyn Baby' but there is something very slick about the sound.
I think the fact that it has a very repetitive, simplistic and solid structure makes it one of her more commercially appealing than a lot of her singles too. - However, I have a feeling radio are having issues with the lyrical content, as Radio 1 playlisted it last week but have not played it once, which I find a bit suspect. |
