Is it just the USA or does it seem like 'Work Bitch' is quite possibly her most memorable smash since the 'Blackout' era? Yeah 'Womanizer' was huge, massive in fact. 'Till The World Ends' remains a staple in top 40 playlists. But there is a difference in radio playlists and general public memory.

I judge a committee on American football (sorry they called it that idk? Why not tackle ball?) cheerleading teams. And WORK BITCH WAS USED IN EVERY TEAMS ROUTINE. 40 FINALISTS. EACH TIME.

The hurricane hit us and I volunteered for clean up. I KID YOU NOT, THIS 40 YEAR OLD WOMAN HAS WORK BITCH BLARING OUT OF HER CAR 20 FEET AWAY. She leaded the volunteer team but Work Bitch was on her playlist and it played 5 times in the span of 2 hours.

I've MISSED you guys! heart.gif

Work Bitch has become a cult pop classic, but I think Womanizer and Till The World Ends were such monster hits it's hard for it to topple those.

I just feel like those songs, while massive hits, weren't a staple in conversation 3 years after release.

Womanizer went #1 in America and TTWE top 3. Smashes here yet only 'Womanizer' is only remembered because it was her 'back to form' single. Meanwhile, 'Work Bitch' peaked at #12, yet has continued to be a topic of discussion still 3 years after the fact. The gay community has completely embraced it after its influence from Ru Paul. It's more of the token gay anthem then'Born This Way' without even trying.

In terms of the UK, I'd say 'Womanizer' was the only song to rival the impact of 'Work Bitch' since the Blackout era. I still hear people my age say "work bitch" and it's in reference to the Britney song rather than any relevance the saying had before it and it's become a staple club hit. I don't hear 'Womanizer' outside of choice anymore but it was such a big hit at the time so that can't be ignored, plus I wouldn't say it was forgotten despite not being played anymore - if you were to refer to someone as a "womanizer", I'm pretty sure plenty of people would start thinking "womanizer, woman-womanizer".

I would say in terms of where I am, it has become a cult classic in the gay community and I hear it all the time in gay bars/clubs.

Am I right in thinking it trickle sold quite well over time despite its shoddy chart run here?

I'd say 'Womanizer' is the most known though, followed by TTWE.

Yes Tyler, it is one of her most memorable songs since Womanizer at least.

I actually agree! I also think Joe is right in that it's now a bit of a cult hit, especially for the gays!

Work Bitch has definitely proved to be bigger than its chart run suggested at the time, but I definitely don't think it's made more of an overall impact outside clubs etc than Womanizer did, and the latter is most definitely more well known to anyone you'd meet in the street I expect.

Yeah I'm gonna say no to this. Most iconic since Circus, absolutely (might have some contest with TTWE here), but while 'Work Bitch' has been pretty impactful, I do think there's definitely still broad sections of the population that would be absolutely clueless if I tried to bring up 'Work Bitch' with them. 'Womanizer', I don't think evaded the attention of anyone under 40.

'Work Bitch' probably gets a little more exposure than 'Womanizer' nowadays but that's not enough to make up for the overwhelming presence that 'Womanizer' had upon its initial release, especially given how much 'Work Bitch' went under the radar initially.

Of course if we include S&S that would go #2 or #3.

I swear it's such a staple to her legacy at this point. It represents Vegas, the rebirth as a performer, and it was the glimpse of the un apologetic Britney we all grew to love in our adolescence.

Main issue with us is that we are forever chasing rebellious Britney, the Britney who created ICONIC moments by refusing to listen to her handlers. Unfortunately for those fans, it would be a bore for Britney to just be a normal pop star with a balanced mind. They don't miss early Britney, they miss controversial Britney. And that's what is kind of sad. I'm sure you'd like to not be expected to replicate your mental breakdown for the sake of creating a Blackout part 2. Which is simply an (amazing) album brought to sizzling heights because of her being on DEATH WATCH.

Britney fans can be terrible. Completely self centered.

Womanizer can only get topped if compared to Toxic.
