More results coming soon, but I have been granted an excellent helping hand in the form of coi, who has added in the FULL results from all of the yearly finals for this year! I am amazed. This one is going to go far. Thank you ever so much!

So that means that there is a full results table for all 1145 songs that got entered into this year's competition.

Thanks very much!

The bottom place seems slightly ironic given the title of the song

With this result being posted, we are nearing the end of the voting period, so everyone who hasn't voted (BRE), get your skates on, as when I post the next result, probably tomorrow, voting will be closed. And then I can do a ton of results at the weekend.

150 95 2009 La Roux - In For The Kill 376 ( X - 181 - 94 - 294 - 176 - 61 - 108 - 95 - 150 )

We see a few songs leaving us from 2008, Work goes out on a high, the inferior version of Snow Patrol's Run recovers a bit but goes out as no longer the top 100 staple it once was, The Promise comes right back to finish a lot better than it did last year, and Black & Gold puts in a respectable performance.

Other notable things in this set of twenty-five include a huge increase for what I think is a rather flat Calvin Harris track, but This Is What You Came For looks strong to be a 2016 perhaps contender in the future regardless, and Hey Brother showing a huge increase this year, as did many Avicii tracks, an increase that is tinged with sadness but I'm glad Hey Brother got recognised as a fantastic track this time, it's not quite his best but it's a strong offering from him. Miami 2 Ibiza adds another Swedish dance DJ song making the top 200 for the first time, a fantastic dance/rap track from 2010 doing so much better than it's done before. Maybe we also had a good dance year, I'd take that for sure.

A lot of big climbs for dance acts in that lot!

Big drop for Justin too... i'm guessing the latest era has probably dented his popularity

I'm glad that "The Promise" has recorded its best result since 2013 but I'm a bit disappointed it couldn't make it through the semi final. They still have two songs in the final though so hopefully at least one of those will do good things I say that, having voted for neither of them ph34r.gif .

That's not actually a bad drop for "Formation" at all, I never would have expected it to make top 50 last year so to stay in the top half of the semi results is very good going. It still would have been nice for her to have a song in the final though sad.gif

How are you breaking ties by the way? I see there are four songs with 405 points, for example.

I was going to answer that there are more decimal places (as the '405' is actually a representation of the 4.05128 average points that it got in the semi final that is easier for me to type into the results thread without stopping for a point), but those 4 just got exactly the same points in the semi-final, 158. And so they're pretty much equal, I could represent it with =129 to be absolutely accurate but that has always looked messy to me so personal preference goes against it.

My answer is: I'm not breaking ties because I never normally break ties unless it's important (like decides a place in the next round important). Therefore those 4 are actually just in alphabetical order. Going by votes, which is my first method when doing important tiebreaks, Work would lead them with 15, followed by So What with 14, then the other two got 12 and I have no consistent method of breaking ties when songs have the same votes, normally if it's necessary I just look at which one has more top scores, which would be When Love Takes Over in this case, with 1 top score, yours tongue.gif

120 NE 2017 Jax Jones (feat. Raye) - You Don't Know Me 419 ( 120 )
121 170 2014 Lilly Wood And The Prick - Prayer In C (Robin Schulz Remix) 417 ( 105 - 179 - 170 - 121 )
122 176 2008 MGMT - Kids 417 ( X - 12 - 112 - 53 - 189 - 139 - 181 - 87 - 176 - 122 )
123 116 2010 Kylie Minogue - Get Outta My Way 416 ( X - 342 - 280 - 381 - 302 - 168 - 116 - 123 )
124 150 2008 Madonna (feat. Justin Timberlake) - 4 Minutes 416 ( X - X - 300 - 466 - X - 298 - 132 - 185 - 150 - 124 )
125 181 2009 Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition 416 ( X - 196 - 182 - 197 - 264 - 183 - 214 - 181 - 125 )

A mix of slow burners and former big hitters in this final section before the big top 100. New peaks for veterans such as Sweet Disposition, 4 Minutes, Call My Name and Cool For The Summer, with only a small dip for Get Outta My Way, Primadonna and Prayer In C is countered by huge contrasts from their peak in the top 40 and 20 for Kids and the two Lady Gaga songs in this section.

Further up it gets even more pronounced that the songs just missing out on the final had a great last run, a huge highlight is seeing Propane Nightmares finish at by some way the highest its ever been, while Ignorance, Seek Bromance, Sonnentanz and Language doing similarly bodes perhaps well for them in future years, Paramore especially have been great at improving year-on-year here.

It's a goodbye for one of the few overplayed rock songs I'm not much of a fan of, Sex On Fire, holding steady at a good but not the best position for it, and also a goodbye from former top 10 hit Paper Planes, which racked up a comparatively disappointing performance this time unfortunately. Which is awful because it's great.

Final kicking off!

This Year / Last Year / Year Of Release / Artist / Song / Points in final / Chart run

91 157 2016 Ariana Grande (feat. Nicki Minaj) - Side To Side 137 (less votes) ( 157 - 91 )
92 83 2015 Major Lazer (feat. DJ Snake & MØ) - Lean On 133 ( 32 - 83 - 92 )
93 172 2012 Girls Aloud - Something New 131 ( 130 - 108 - 78 - 183 - 172 - 93 )
94 90 2014 Ariana Grande (feat. Iggy Azalea) - Problem 124 ( 112 - 96 - 90 - 94 )
95 71 2013 Zedd (feat. Foxes) - Clarity 120 ( 100 - 188 - 204 - 71 - 95 )
96 206 2009 Agnes - Release Me 112 ( X - 314 - 226 - 64 - 140 - 253 - 74 - 206 - 96 )
97 158 2014 Ariana Grande (feat. The Weeknd) - Love Me Harder 111 ( 195 - 344 - 158 - 97 )
98 123 2014 Katy Perry (feat. Juicy J) - Dark Horse 105 ( 117 - 99 - 123 - 98 )
99 97 2013 Lana Del Rey vs Cedric Gervais - Summertime Sadness 103 ( 31 - 107 - 121 - 97 - 99 )
100 49 2015 Little Mix - Black Magic 94 ( 72 - 49 - 100 )

The only song to score under a hundred points in the final was Black Magic. Falling from #49 last year, the rather run-of-the-mill Little Mix lead single attracted only a couple of high scores across all of the voters, meaning that girlband songs may not be in this year. Just above it are a couple of songs in familiar positions of hanging around the cusp of the final, Summertime Sadness's remix has nothing on the other Lana songs in this final even if it was a technically bigger hit and would still be the sort of thing I'd love to hear in a club, while Dark Horse is a very interesting Katy Perry song that I think is one of her best visually and with a trap instrumental that works a lot better than it does on many other songs, but it's still a bit of an acquired taste.

Ariana may be the new Gaga in the volume of songs she's regularly getting into the ROTD final, but not all of them are vote-grabbers, despite increasing every year, Love Me Harder could only grab 111 points, still it's first try at the final so not too bad all told, and Side To Side hasn't done a whole lot better, also on its first try. On the other hand, after 3 goes finishing in the 90s and paling vocally next to her subsequent releases, the rather thin Problem looks a lot more vulnerable, although I suppose it must be praised for its consistency.

Zedd & Foxes' collaboration has always been a quietly popular release around here, featuring one of the most satisfying 'emotional vocals build up into grindy dance drop' types in music. It's a little outclassed in this company like the rest in this section and drops from its slightly higher peak last year to #95. Meanwhile, another light dance song, Release Me is only sometimes in the finals, coming back here after a year's absence, but this time doesn't go much further than the bottom end.

Lean On is slipping a lot from its first high. I wondered if it was being held back by overplay when it first debuted, but that run seems to suggest otherwise. Maybe it is just getting forgotten a bit more than some of the other big hits from its year, I don't often think about it, as good and as recognisable as its instrumental is.I don't give the time of day to Something New, a dull last-ditch attempt at breathing life into an aged girlband, but it's improved a lot on last year, this is only its second final after all. It's done somehow worse than the first time it was here. ROTD, me, and saying horrible things about Girls Aloud, what a trio.

I expect Untouchable is GA's highest remaining song these days?

Slightly surprised to see Ari lose three at once in the 90s after her increase in profile and status over the last 2 years and popularity with it. I imagine she has at least three still to come though?

81 297 2013 Avicii vs Nicky Romero - I Could Be The One 152 ( 295 - 309 - 434 - 297 - 81 )
82 84 2012 Rudimental - Feel The Love 149 (13 votes) ( 37 - 47 - 70 - 180 - 84 - 82 )
83 120 2012 Azealia Banks - 212 149 (12 votes) ( 50 - 26 - 27 - 54 - 120 - 83 )
84 77 2011 Jennifer Lopez (feat. Pitbull) - On The Floor 149 ( 80 - 94 - 104 - 114 - 157 - 77 - 84 )
85 92 2016 Clean Bandit (feat. Anne-Marie & Sean Paul) - Rockabye 148 ( 92 - 85 )
86 36 2016 Fifth Harmony (feat. Ty Dolla $ign) - Work from Home 140 (same votes, same 26s, one more 24) ( 36 - 86 )
87 96 2016 Kungs vs Cookin On 3 Burners - This Girl 140 ( 96 - 87 )
88 NE 2017 Disciples - On My Mind 139 (more votes) ( - 88 )
89 87 2011 Lady Gaga - Judas 139 ( 410 - 217 - 414 - 303 - 319 - 87 - 89 )
90 219 2013 Disclosure (feat. AlunaGeorge) - White Noise 137 (more votes) ( 441 - 198 - 82 - 219 - 90 )

With On My Mind and White Noise up next, maybe it is dance songs bottoming out at a certain level, although I'd rank White Noise as quite popular but only to a certain crowd, it's an incredible track in my mind but I know plenty who won't give it the time of day. I don't know so much about On My Mind, aside from it just being a bit of a solid tune, which has managed to get it what I'd rate as perhaps surprisingly far in its first year, I'm interested to see what it does next time.

Judas racks up its second year in the top 100 as the lowest Gaga song in the final, but that's a lot better than what it's done before, I sense it's getting a bit of a renaissance, it's good but it wasn't a universally loved Gaga track in the day.

Two 2016 songs finishing on pretty much exactly the same merit, Work From Home has dropped a lot from its good debut last year and those of you who know me will know that I was rubbing my hands with glee at its underperformance, while This Girl has a much less impressive steady climb.

Rockabye has a similar climb to This Girl, but this one was one I was hoping would do a lot better. Clean Bandit certainly have no shortage of fans on here, even if I'm probably the biggest looking at the voting records, but Rockabye is an undeniable life-giving anthem and deserved a lot more than 148 points. Another year, maybe.

On The Floor and Feel The Love have also done rather similarly to last year, and a rather surprising underperformance for 212 reminds me that it also missed out on the final last year, so the lack of support for that one over time is starting to look a bit unfortunate (because it's genius), but one song that hasn't done similarly to last year is Avicii's (and Nicky Romero's), I Could Be The One. All Avicii songs have seen huge increases this year, with 3 in the final where I don't believe there have been any before, and I Could Be The One is only the lowest of those 3. So perhaps the dance songs aren't bottoming out. I often see it as a song that those who aren't fans of Avicii's normal work can still like, and it's a great dance song, but I do prefer the two still to come.

I hope so, but do you really think Bad Romance and Dancing On My Own are going to be beaten that easily?

I dunno, ever since it opened I’ve felt like One Last Time could get there this year.
