I see Boris still employing the „when Angela says lockdown I say lockdown“ model. The original uk one came around the same number of days after Germany’s was announced too

I suspect some of it is watching the likes of France, Belgium, Germany etc. put measures in - it's pretty much inevitable everywhere in Europe right now. Seems odd Raab was on the news this morning peddling the Tiered system when it sounds like they made the call Thursday to go national. Just don't get they didn't do this over half term. I don't think the rest of the UK will follow England as they have already done something, possibly Wales might as not sure their circuit breaker was long enough. Who knows really it's a guessing game.

One thing is for sure there will certainly be a lot more anarchy and chaos this time around.

Why on earth does this PM always react last in terms of lockdowns if this is going to happen like, ridiculous!

If Boris is doing a lockdown, he should allow places such as McDonalds, Burger King and KFC to remain open but drive thru only and to close the outlets which don’t have a drive thru and allow restaurants such as Nando’s and Harvester for instance to open but take away only

but I thought Keir Starmer was playing political games in the middle of a pandemic when he was talking about a national lockdown a couple of weeks ago.

Late as usual, useless government, solidarity to all of you having to deal with it.

According to Sky, some Cabinet members and many Tory MP's are still against a full national lockdown because of it's effect on business. So not certain yet and will be decided finally over the weekend. The R has actually fallen slightly in some areas over the past few days.

It's a fine balancing act. Business and jobs have already taken a huge hit this year.

Indeed plus locking down the country twice a year simply isn't sustainable in the event this virus simply can't be eradicated.

The R number is indeed believed to have fallen in some parts but is still probably above 1 more or less everywhere

Yes it is but some places have fallen from say 1.3 to 1.1 or 1.2 to 1.0.

Tell that to the hundreds of people going into the hospital due to Covid each day, there won’t be any business left at this rate if the virus isn’t controlled. As they say if the workforce isn’t safe and healthy there isn’t an economy anyway!
