Just watching TOTP on BBC4, and in May 1987 Donna Allen was a chart breaker at 20. Imagine my unsuspecting brain suddenly realising it was the original sampled for Strike -U Sure Do from 1995! Dance classic sample shocker!!

Yep...I discovered that a while ago. It's a great vocal and sounds very atmospheric in U Sure Do.
Speaking of dance samples, I also remember being surprised to recognise a relaxing tune I heard on a local radio station a few months ago - Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence by Ryuichi Sakamoto, which was sampled in Watergate's Heart Of Asia. |
