Whilst we're revisiting 00s dance in the chart forum, it's time we ranked the biggest dance hits of the 2000s.
The top 15 best-selling dance songs of each year in the UK have been selected, simply rank them from +15 (favourite) to +01 (least favourite) and the top four of each group will be put into a grand final. The deadline will be set for next Saturday (or whenever I remember to do results). 2002 A reasonably big year for dance, especially for the more cheesy side of it as Scooter and Flip & Fill both have two entries each as well as other trance pop from DJ Sammy, Lasgo and Love Inc... and DJ Alligator Project was a thing too. It was also the year Elvis got a makeover for the 21st century, we got a few drum and bass hits from Puretone and Shy FX and some house from X-Press 2, Goldtrix and Mad'house (the latter being a Madonna tribute). db Boulevard - Point of View DJ Alligator Project - The Whistle Song (Blow My Whistle Bitch) DJ Sammy & Yanou feat. Wish i would have been more into dance back then but I just wasn't into banging trance beats and big vocals on top back then (mostly (I liked the Tell it To My heart cover as I knew the song already). Liked Like A Prayer at the time the best out of the songs listed here as I knew the original. Liked Point Of View and Lazy too at the time, I actually considered them both indie pop rather than dance back then. Also shoutouts to
Surprised 'Reason' by Ian van Dahl didn't make this list as it did well in the charts and was arguably THE big summer hit that year. +15 Flip & Fill feat. Kelly Llorenna - True Love Never Dies (great tune, this unlike most of Flip and Fill's stuff I wouldn't consider cheesy at all) +14 Lasgo - Something (fantastic vocal trance song, one of the most well known from the genre) +13 Scooter - Nessaja (this is just huge sounding with the drop, very ravey too) +12 Mad'house - Like A Prayer (Really liked this back then, liked the additional tech house synths that weren't in the original) +11 Puretone - Addicted To Bass (great drum and bass tune, one of the few 2002 dance songs that still gets played on Radio 1 from time to time don't remember it from the time though) +10 Flip & Fill - Shooting Star (this is very cheesy, the vocal is a bit too high pitched for my liking in the chorus but still a very good tune) +9 Scooter - The Logical Song (iconic of course) +8 Goldtrix feat. Andrea Brown - It's Love (Trippin') (good deep house song, I like Andrea Brown's trippy sounding vocals in it) +7 DJ Alligator Project - The Whistle Song (Blow My Whistle Bitch) (this is very good, its really stylewise the 2002 equivalent of Sak Noel - Loca People but at a faster speed) +6 db Boulevard - Point of View (lovely song, like Moony's two follow ups too) +5 DJ Sammy & Yanou feat. Do - Heaven (very good cover) +4 Shy FX & T Power feat. Di - Shake Ur Body (nice mix of latin influences and drum and bass) +3 Love Inc. - You're A Superstar (cheesy lyrics but a very good tune anyway) +2 X-Press 2 feat. David Byrne - Lazy (Really liked this at the time, especially David Byrne's vocal in it and the video. Can we move on to 2001 now danG....Hoping You Are Alive makes it somehow onto the top 15 selling dance songs of the year (unlikely though), remember that one a lot from the time. One of my favourite funky house tunes Salsoul Nugget (If You Wanna) should make it though!
