So that's eight countries confirmed OUT. Who should have made a better choice at the National Final? Who's probably not coming back next year? Discuss all this and more!
Here are my initial claims: · Finland should have sent Saara Aalto · Estonia should have gone with Laura/Cartoon/Mick Pedaja · Iceland still would've failed even if they sent Alda Dis · San Marino will not be back next year |

Estonia should have gone with ANYTHING ELSE
Finland had either Saara Alto or Mikael Saari, either would have had much more of a chance. I don't think most of the others could have avoided their fate. Sure San Marino will be back next year though, they'll find someone else who is notably not Sammarinese but notably stinking rich to bankroll their entry. Moldova might be in more danger, I always used to be surprised at them consistently qualifying when they're supposed to be the poorest country in Europe but when that was all they could drag up on a clear shoestring budget and it failed yet again for them I can't imagine they're long for participation unless their fortunes are turned around. And with Romania out for the foreseeable too... it's going to be hard for them to stay in. |

I think San Marino will be out next year not because of the DNQ but because of having half of their vote being made up.

I don't think Finland would've qualified with the mess that No Fear was either, but Mikael Saari would've probably been top 3 in the semi so they should've gone with him. Estonia probably would've only had a chance with Cartoon due to their staging. Agreed that Iceland had no better option!
I think Moldova will probably leave us next year due to budget issues and no Romania, Croatia will now stay and Bosnia & Herzegovina were always budget-dependent anyway but I can see them leaving too. San Marino will stay if they have someone to bankroll them, if they don't then they'll leave - as simple as that. I'm not convinced the made up televote will bother them that much, I'd assume it's all about country promotion than anything else for them to be in the competition hence why they made a big deal of that issue (rightly so in my opinion) mainly for publicity. |

Definitely worried for Macedonia now, you have to imagine that 'Dona' will look the same way to the broadcaster as 'Samo Shampioni' did to the Bulgarians. And that one was CLEARLY not as good a song as E&S's previous entry while with 'Dona', it's a lot more debatable.
I guess all the Western European casualties will be fine for now. Obviously Denmark could have sent something to do better but we all know how that went already. I don't think there's much sympathy for them. |

A friend of mine works with the Macedonian Delegation and he said the same, with a DNQ we probably won't get them in the contest next year :/

I don't know if it would necessarily have been more successful than 'Blue and Red' but the song that came second in the Slovenian NF (by an incredibly close margin) could have been a really interesting left-field type of entry after a decent revamp.

Will Russia withdraw in 2017 then? Their biggest star, biggest performance and they lose it at the last minute to Ukraine? Hmm...

Europe just added the population of Ukraine to the millions of migrants fleeing war zones for the EU. Wonder who will host next year because we all know Putin will have turned Kiev to dust by sunrise
