Meh....truth be told, I dislike passionately any and all reality shows.....too much back stabbing, and, too many conniving participants being broadcast all over the airwaves....not to mention the continual media coverage of some mild-mannered folk, who crack from the pressure.....
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 3rd June 2009, 07:41 PM
you know i agree about what you said about reality shows but i always watch and enjoy them at the same time,,most of the peoplpe i loathe but there are a few who i like, nikki graham from bb7 was brilliant and i still find her hilarious and ruth lorenzo from this years x factor i loved aswell,,i was also a fan of the late Jade Goody(rip) and i liked her long before she became ill,,there rae onloy a handfull i like alot but some i loathe with a passion
Posted by: bigwiglaf 3rd June 2009, 08:13 PM
Shows like America's/Britain's Got Talent, American Idol, I really loathe....all the crap the judges and media put the contestants through is atrocious....the media are nothing but rabid wolves with those shows.....which is sad, because they really mess up decent people.....
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 3rd June 2009, 08:14 PM
susan boyle is prime example of what you said and it smore the tabloids who done it they had he rin the papers every single day which piled the pressure on her and gave her so so much press speculation she never asked for and at the end of the day susan suffered alot because of it
Posted by: bigwiglaf 3rd June 2009, 08:25 PM
All I can say about Susan Boyle right now is, I hope she recovers from her meltdown soon....she has one heck of a singing voice, to be sure, and, I wouldn't mind buying a cd she might put out.....
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 3rd June 2009, 08:33 PM
Id say she will have huge success with her first cd if they give her the right material she could have the biggest selling album from a areality tv star,,i do hope she recovers her life has literally changed over night from nothing to a world superstar in 5 seconds that has to be very frightening

The only thing going in its defence is that the acting is a little bit better than the alleged acting in Eastenders! And Peter before you go on at me for having a dig at Eastenders - my husband has already given me a telling off. He enjoys it and has to put up with me popping my head round the door from the kitchen, sniggering at every scene!

I have to laugh though last night whilst watching it (or rather - winding up my husband watching it) right before the end when she (Dot) turns round after closing the door behind Nick I said to Allan "I'll bet Dottie is stood on the stairs and says - shall I make you a cup of tea Grandma" and apart from it being Cocoa and not Tea .... I was right. Eastenders is so transparant. Having said that ... I think I'm starting to like it!

I'm dreading going to work next week. I actually like my job but I've realised that I know absolutely nothing at all about it (sofas). My colleague in the same department is on holiday so I'm doing it all alone next week and I'm bricking it! But someone once said to me 'will this matter in five years time - no? Then it doesn't matter now' and I must admit ... I keep telling myself that all he time. Having said that ... I just hope I win the lottery tonight so I don't have to bother!

I wouldn't mind but I'm quite an artistic person by nature (its what my degree is in) and the job I'm doing is basically in design/fabrics etc - but I'm totally lost! Now if they asked me to do a review of a John Carpenter film - I'd be flying!

The job I've got at the moment I had three interviews. After the first one they called me and said I'd not got it (because I wanted to work less hours than they wanted the person to). A few weeks later they called me back - the original choice had backed out. Again - I got the 'thanks but no thanks' - they wanted someone else. Then a few weeks later they called me back saying that that person had backed out also - did I want the job. So I did on the understanding that I did the hours I said (having said that - we've all had to take a pay cut in the form of extra hours - credit crunch and all). So if I make a bollocks of this job and get fired - I don't really care as I was only third choice all along. The only thing that keeps me there is its local, despite the increased hours - the money is still good, and I actually like the work - the day flies by and I only work four days a week!

She gets away with it because her fans don't mind her miming. That girl is going to get a reality check one of these days ... but for now ... she's made millions out of faking it ... so why stop now? She really is less than average ... and after knowing what she does .... I will never, ever slag off anyone on X-Factor again - at least those kids have the balls to sing live!
Norma
Posted by: Dinno 7th June 2009, 10:02 PM
Im alright how everybody else doing?? And yes im enjoying the lipsynching thred but i feel sooooo sorry for her fans who are defending her like crazy. Britney would cry if she read what people are saying about her opn that thread.
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 7th June 2009, 10:03 PM
i agree about the x factor conestants they sing totally live and are inexperienced when it come sto perfoming on tv in front of million but they do that, then than untalented bint pops in to dance forgets about singing and is supposed to be setting an example of how its done, its ridiculous what she does and im in shock at how innocent some of fans are that they dont mind paying money to her mime
Posted by: Dinno 7th June 2009, 10:05 PM
10 years ago people were calling xtina & jessica britney wannabe.......oh how things have changed in terms of music & vocally. Britney is the least credible of the 3....oh wait maybe she above jessica simpson but thats it.
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 7th June 2009, 10:07 PM
she is prob more credibale than jessica but x tina is million times more credible i mean x tinals voice alone leaving out her songs speaks enough and to compare x tina and christina now adays is almost a joke
Posted by: bigwiglaf 7th June 2009, 10:08 PM
I'd feel bad for Britney's fans, too.....she doesn't seem to care she's cheating them out of hearing a live performance, which is what they paid good money to see....I'm of the opinion these days that a lot of these 'pop' singers don't care what they do to make a buck....
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 7th June 2009, 10:09 PM
and britney is the worst culprit for milking her fans that woman should learn about the word respect as she clearly has no idea what it means, i mean big brother stars get slated for having no talent but to me they are no worse than britney if anything britney is worse

I feel sorry for her fans ... a lot of them seem so sweet - but she treats them with utter contempt. You know I'm not Robbie's biggest fan - but what I do know is that he gives his all to his fans and to mime at one of his own concerts would be to cheat on them ... but he doesn't! Take That don't. Girls Aloud don't and the Sugababes ... along with countless other acts don't mime out of pure respect (and self-respect). Britney has no love or respect for her fans .... only her fans' money!
Norma
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 7th June 2009, 10:12 PM
ya fans to britney = money and nothing else, how many times as she snubbed her fans when at premiers etc i remember kylie commenting onbritney doing that a few years back and she advised her to always have time for the fans as they are the only people who stick by you such a fickle industry

I remember when britney came out back in 1998 with "Baby One More Time" i serioulsy never understood the hype around that song at all.It was an absolute massive hit song world wide.
Jessica's "I Wanna Love You Forever" and Christina's "Genie In A Bottle" was soooo much better to me.

Even better than yesterday. I just don't like giving people bad news. When they phone in chasing their order - I hate telling them that it'll be delivered to them on 2nd July when someone a few weeks ago told them it would be with them on 15th June! I believe in the Scotty Principle! If something is going to take 4 weeks from order to delivery ... tell the customer 6 weeks! That way ... when they get it in 5 weeks they're pleased!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th June 2009, 07:49 PM
i do love the cold myself i love nothing more than areally cold nite and be snuggled up in front of a warm open fire, the weather here in irelan dat the moment isnt roasting its nice and warm and blue sky and no rain and its great seeing the kids been able to play outside and enjoy it as they dont get much of a chance

I'm not knocking nice weather, as long as it's reasonable.....but, 7 months of heat and humidity are a bit much.....if it were about 20-25 C during the day and low humidity, with sun, is just right.....and about 10-15 C at night is cozy.....

Well I'm going to pack my job in on Monday! With a bit of regret as I actually like 75% of the job (I don't like the 25% covering other people's arses - which is soon to become 50%) Yes I know its a bad time to give your notice in but I'm not driven by money so I know I'll get another job (maybe one that doesn't pay as well ... but I know I'll get another).

your right norma if its what you think is the best for you its what you have to do and its great to see someone not driven by money, so many people are so money obsessed and i think its something that has affected society in a bad way, less money strips things down and we go back to our basics and i think its when we realise that we dont need all the flaff we appreciate the people around us alot more

It was like going to see a play actually - but you got the chance to interrogate the cast (in their characters). We were all sat at tables and each table had to identify the killer, method (which was obvious straight away) and motive. Right at the beginning - almost before the cast had started talking I pointed to one character and said 'its him'. We changed our minds (well I didn't but I was outnumbered) and do you know what? I was right! It was all good fun though.

The only job that I've had where I've said 'sod off' and gone within the hour was when I was cleaning about 20 years ago (job tied in with husband's job). I think my exact words to my boss (or the boss's wife) were 'Iron your own f*cking knickers then'.

Eh, so much for the non-TT B&I's here in the TT forum.....but, I suppose it was too good to keep on with.....I don't mind having the Roy Orbison and Hitch B&U's shut down here.....must keep the harmony flowing here at buzz....
On a side note: I'm in bug trouble at my favourite pub over here....they just recently, within the past 2 weeks, started serving liquor, along with the beer and wine....this pub, up until now, was solely beer and wine.....

QUOTE(bigwiglaf @ Jun 18 2009, 07:36 PM)
Well, Norma, what do you think?? EDIT: Norma....did you ever do a TT b-sides B&I?????
No I've not done a TT b-sides B&I purely because with the exception of a couple most of them are awful! And I'm saying that as a Take That fan. The best B sides have been 'Beautiful Morning' (Patience) and 'We All Fall Down' (I'd Wait For Life) - believe me - the others were just put there out of duty.
When I've posted anything slightly wacky in the Lounge (like - 'what kind of biscuit are you', 'what kind of footwear are you', 'what kind of sausage are you', etc - they all exist - you'll have to track back about a year ago in The Lounge) I was told to stop posting nonsense - which is why I thought nonsense posts would be ok in here. It seems people have been spying in on what we do here - without even bothering to post anything - and then snitching on us!
So - without further ado (well tomorrow anyway - I'm off to a pub quiz now) I'm going to start those B&I's in different threads. We'll spread them through Retro and The Lounge. If we have any strongly related film ones - we'll put them in there. I have to say though - that Mushymanrob - the mod for retro is a bit territorial with his patch and tends to act a bit like a rottweiller. I can say that in safety as I know he never posts in here and he'll never find out what I've said about him!
Norma
Posted by: bigwiglaf 18th June 2009, 07:03 PM
I would tend to agree with you, Norma, about Mushymanrob.....in reading some of his posts in the Lounge, and Perspectives/World News, he's a bit bulldoggish there, as well, in reading some of his posts.....nothing wrong with having a strong opinion on some subjects, but, I think he tends to go a bit over the top sometimes....

I think its all a facade with him! I think he's a big softie! I can imagine him sitting at home on a Friday evening in his fluffy dressing gown and matching slippers watching Come Dine With Me, sipping hot chocolate and flickiing nonchalently through his Practical Gardening Magazine! It was a real shame though how they closed the lip-synching thread he had going - it was pure entertainment for 23 pages!
I'm off now ... wish me luck in the quiz. If I get back before midnight - I'll do a quick post to let you know if we've won!

After being on BJ for a few years - I'm fairly OK with modern music (even if I don't like some of it - I know who the artists are and what songs, etc) but wouldn't you know - the music quiz so far has been stuff from the past (and the 90's passed me by completely - I just was not into music at all back then - apart from fancying Noel Gallagher!)

For me - its late 60's, most of the 70's, quite a bit of the 80's and a fair bit of the 00's - it was just the 90's decade that passed me by! Probably because I had a job that I really, really like (so much that I'd take it home with me) and we were living down south where I had lots of friends - so I went out virtually every night!

I really don't like the radio on at work. I know that sounds prudish - and if others want it on I wouldn't complain - but I don't like it. Never have!

Hi Renee!
I've been visiting BJ today but nothing was going on in here so I've not posted anything! I'm off to see them tomorrow and I'm dreading driving into Manchester - I've heard the roads on the concert days are awful ... and its even worse getting out after the show! Double murder getting out of Manchester for some on Tuesday as Kings of Leon were playing at another venue as well as Take That at the cricket stadium. So in total - about 70,000 people all trying to get onto the motorways at the same time, in addition to any normal outgoing traffic!

Sad news! Didn't like stuff he did more recently but anyone who did Thriller deserves respect. Odd - but as I was reading about Farrah Fawcett last night on IMDb - there was a flash in the corner of my computer screen - Jackson collapses with cardiac, etc, etc. I didn't take any notice of it as to be honest there has been so much crap going on about these tours, Jackson in general, and then this morning Allan said ... Michael Jackson's died! Still can't believe it.

I really enjoyed all three nights - even the Saturday when I swear - my shoes weighed about two kilos each with the water they'd absorbed! It was absolutely torrential for about half an hour! We were fairly close on the Saturday - but not nearly as close as I'd like to have been. Having said that - the General Admission area was absolutely heaving with people - I don't think I could have stood it for long.

That was a little bit embarrassing! I don't want to say anything bad about Boyzone though, as I really do like Ronan Keating (as a bloke) I just can't stand his singing voice! I think they should have left a lot more of the singing to Gately! And Goodness knows what the other three are there for! The sooner Keith Duffy gets back to Coronation Street the better!
Norma
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 6th July 2009, 09:33 PM
i dont like stephen gatelyls voice at all, mikey has a very good voice in boyzone but they never seem to use it for some reason
Posted by: IrisAlbastru 7th July 2009, 04:42 AM
LOL, i actually liked the last song they have a lot (Better), but i still cringe very much at the dance moves here (has nothing to do with voice). The edge between ok and cringeworthy is very very thin. For example i loved TT with the Beatles medley, but they danced like people used to dance in that time and not exactly like the Beatles. But copying Freddy and that mics stands make it hilarious for Boyzone.
Posted by: bigwiglaf 7th July 2009, 10:55 PM
Well, with me and my 2 left feet, I don't dance worth a darn.....I'm sure the lads of TT dance much better than I could ever hope to...
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 7th July 2009, 11:23 PM
i hated boyzones version of better than tom bexter version is miles and miles ahead of it, funnily when they retruned/reformed they were on the late late show(most watched show here in ireland) and they were dancing to the song they sang and they looked so awkard and bad it was like watching karaoke
Posted by: bigwiglaf 8th July 2009, 10:24 PM
I wonder if Darren Holden were back in Boyzone, if he'd help them with their live singing and dancing....
Posted by: Norma_Snockers 10th July 2009, 11:15 PM
Who is Darren Holden? I'm very out of touch with things!
By the way - look on the 'pinned' topics for Take That Sound & Vision (including youtubes) - I've just posted the best compilation I've seen so far. Quite artistic really.

Darren Holden was in Boyzone in the early 1990's, now of the traditional Irish group The High Kings.....he also was in a touring company of Riverdance, and, was in a stage show called Piano Man, about Billy Joel....
If anyone might be interested in info about The High Kings, pay a visit to www.thehighkings.com

the high kings have really grown on me alot lately but i must admit i didnt know he was in boyzone at all
Posted by: bigwiglaf 10th July 2009, 11:35 PM
It's mentioned in Darren's bio on the High Kings site.....
Also, if I remember, I think I read where Brian Dunphy's dad was in a band, that appeared in the Eurovision contest for Ireland in the 1960's.... Brian's dad's name is Sean Dunphy....
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 10th July 2009, 11:43 PM
yes that is ringing a bell with me now, im ust look that one up
Posted by: bigwiglaf 10th July 2009, 11:53 PM
Then again, I may be mistaken about Darren Holden having actually been a member of Boyzone.....from what I just re-read, it says he toured with them at one point, not actually a member.....
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 10th July 2009, 11:57 PM
that would make mor esense as i never remeber him been associated in the band itself
Posted by: bigwiglaf 11th July 2009, 12:00 AM
I just read that Brian Dunphy's dad Sean was in a group called The Hoedowners.....

I used to be a member of a golf club ... until they realised how much I swore when things didn't go my way! I'm pretty well up on the rules of golf - and I do actually love the game (well I love the Masters and the Ryder Cup - and any of the British Open when its not played on a links course). I think I'll have lots to talk about. Lets face it ... they're not going to get many women who know lots about golf and can type at 80 words per minute!

I know! I honestly don't know why I don't like watching golf on a links course - they just look so bloody windswept and desolate! I like a nice, lush green playing area. I think my favourite has to be the Masters at Augusta. I've promised my husband when ( ) I win the lottery I'm going to pay for him to have a round of golf there. Although he's told me that even if you're super-rich - there's something like a 12 year waiting list to play!
Norma
Posted by: bigwiglaf 15th July 2009, 08:47 PM
The course they played the US Championship this year, they only allow a total of 24 players a day out on the course for a round of golf...if I remember, it was the Bethpage course on Long Island, in New York City....so, one can imagine the people camped out daily, even after making reservations, to hope for the chance to play that particular course...

I feel like doing something wild and crazy - I think the next interview I go to I'm going to go absolutely stark naked and see if it makes a difference. I may have the face of a tired and haggard looking 50-year-old, but I have the body of a 25 year old minx! Unfortunately she keeps ringing me up ... she wants it back!

I am sure you will find something better! You have so much personality, no way that someone won't preffer that to someone young but without experience or personality...
Go for that club interview! You will never know! At my last interview, when i got the job, my actual boss has a very bored face and i was sure i won't make it. Keep going!!!

Oh yes, i watched, but was kind of boring this one (beside the cute kids , they will have soon a whole soccer team together, if only Jason will try harder). Wonder if any of them will go on music path.

For me ... Jason has a sublime sense of humour ... or rather a way of speaking ... he's so articulate. I love his analogy of his car and Take That! I also love Gary playing the keyboard while Mark's dancing ... I want to hear more Gary Keyboarding! He's brilliant!

I'm never quite sure what to think of them either! Well everyone else is trading in on Jackson's death I suppose its better that someone does it in just a song! I suppose its worth another couple of hundred thousand copies sold! In this article I'm actually surprised that Rob actually credits someone else (Don Black) for helping him out!!!!

Cheers! I would have been rustling around in there for ages. So he and Don have just re-worded the lyrics to a song with MJ in mind. That's a hell of a lot better. I must admit .... despite what I thought of Rob - I did think he would have more integrity than to go and dedicate a whole bloody song to him. Maybe singing one of Michael's at a concert would be preferable - he should have the opportunity to do that next year!
Thanks again ICR - what's your name - or do you prefer just ICR?

Congrats, Norma.....
Looks like I landed a job as well.....something akin to a contract job, working at a veteran's hospital nearby.....I go in Friday to fill out more paperwork, get fingerprinted, and a physical......then, I hope to find out what day I start.......bad thing is, no benefits, and, the job will last a year, with them having the option for each of the 2 following years to roll me over, keep me on board....then, from what I was told, after that, I'll be looking again for work.....heck, I could be looking for work after one year.....or sooner.....hope I'll be kepy on for the full 3 years though....

At my niece's wedding a little while back they had a string quartet in between the ceremony and the evening festivities. They played Greatest Day and it sounded absolutely fab. They also did an incredible version of Coldplay's Viva La Vida.

Norma, i saw on TTO that you are a little bit upset with that 3am voting. Well, i think it is fixed up from those girls to cause controversy. No way that someone could move up and down in 2 minutes like Gary, Jason and Howard do . When you write they are in D-list, they are for me in the first one, for example. Fixed or screwd up. I don't think so many people have something against Gary - more have somethimng against Mark , and he is surpinsingly in the second place (but he doesn't cause controvery with Robbie, isn't it?). So , don't be upset!
The only think that get on my nerves is that when Robbie will release his album it wil start once again "Robbie is better/TT are better" story. Which apart that i like only one side, i think it is very much pointless. Even the people liking clasical music won't agree who is better Mozart or Rachmaninov (here i like also only one side)...But it seems that the press instead of giving us some good interviews (when was the last good one with TT?), they choose to give us only gossip and made-up stories or the same boring questions (Are you back for good? Will Robbie reunitae with TT?). Ok, rant over

Iris ... I'm not upset ... I find it hilarious that people are still voting on it! I posted a link in the Kylie and GA forums to hopefully get one of them to knock 'no-lips' out! I haven't voted for any of them! Not even Gary! And that is the truth! I do find it funny that so many Rob fans are taking it as seriously as they are though! They must be staying up all night to vote Gary, Howard and Jason down.
Besides ... I think I'm going to devote all my spare time here on BJ from now on. The Take That site is absolute $h!te if I'm being honest! I'm sick of all the inane 'aren't they lovely' posts. Like you ... I want to read about the music ... not who has the best arse!

Well, i for sure won't post anything more on TTO . This time for good. For some groups like TT, Girls aloud and some other is better to don't know the ultra-fans, other way you might lose the love for their music. So, i had to choose ...I go there to read only the media page to find out some news i don't know, but that is all for me now.
I found myself a nice Owen forum (no, not the official forum either- that is 10 years back in internet development ), where i can rant about his music as much as i like , where nobody is so upset if i say some harsh things like i do here on buzzjacks (they got so upset on TTO that i say Westlife music is bland ), so it is fine for me even if the management will only read the TTO and will remain with a very bad result for the group .
But with that voting, i tryed last evening to see how it works: in 5 minutes Howard moved from C-list to the A list, which is no way to happen in normal vote poles.

Sounds like it's a good thing (?) I'm not a member of TTO, then, from what I'm reading from Norman and Iris....
Well, looks like I've an orientation dats at a local veteran's hospital for 14 September.....still have some stuff to go through online before my orientation date, which will undoubtedly get me ire up, since I detest filling out background checks and applications online.....
Bad thing is, no benefits, no sick leave, and, they have the option to roll me over in the position for which I have the orientation for each of 2 years after my first year is up....but, hey, right now, with the economy like it is, a job's a job, and, I'm happy for that....

There was another job I had interview for almost 3 weeks ago, where I had to drive 300 miles to get there....still have no clue what's going on with that one, save they FINALLY started doing background checks on meself and 3 others they interviewed the same day.....that job has benefits, vacation/holiday pay, and, higher pay rate....I'll be in a bit of a quandary if that place offers me a position....

If you got it (fingers crossed if you really do) how will you do that distance? Surely you wouldn't drive that every day! Would you move nearer during the week and come home at weekends - or move altogether?

Well, I'd definitely rent a place down that way, and, maybe head back to this part of the world 1-2 times a month.....I surely wouldn't make that drive every weekend....I was shagged out from the drive down, then back, when I had the interview in the middle of the week....that was heading down the night before, then interview, followed by drive back....

We will have also that Children in need gig, or what is supposed to be.
Also for all Gary fans a lot of songs where he is the writer.
I still think it is a pact betwwen TT and Robbie. One year he, one year TT. We will live and see. And i still hope, if they do something together: please be the hymn of the olympic games. But as i know now how the people think in UK, it will be an X factor or BB / Dance on ice/ Name-it reality show winner (if TT will do that, it will still work with my prediction, but for Robbie alone not! ).

That's a shame - I do find that after a CD comes out and and I have played it to death and after the excitement of a tour that it's a bit of an anti climax when it's over. But it never lasts long - thanks goodness.

I came back for a few minutes ... got distracted in the TT site ... am so thoroughly peed off with that site now. It appears the average age over there is 13! Judas Priest ... I've never known grown women get so worked up about a band! Paying good money for magazines just for the tiniest scrap of (useless) information or photos! Honestly ... I try to do my bit and save them money but do they listen? Nay, Nay, and thrice Nay!
Thank heavens for the BJ TT forum! Where adults can talk to adults! I think I prefer every one of the Robbie fans on BJ to the Take That fans on the official site!

Just realised I was being as childish as the other silly bint on the OTT site last night! Must learn not to visit there again. I wouldn't mind ... all the media stuff that they post there ... I've usually found it myself days before. It is one of the least informative sites I've ever seen I must say.

That's what I was trying to tell them ... it wasn't worth forking out £4 if the only reason was for the Take That 'interview'. It was one paltry page of light-hearted questions and answers. In fact ... that whole 'interview' had already been seen in different bits being used here and there in other magazines and papers. But that silly bint (I won't name her ... you'll know who it is) said she 'didn't need advice on how to spend her money' from me! Little old me ... who was only trying to help! She was the same on the old site mind.
Do you know what bugs me though - the site owners or runners or whatever you call them - have now got on the home page - an ad saying something like 'The Take That covers are flying off the shelves, so if you have difficulty contact ..... ' and people will end up paying £6 for this mag with postage. For heaven's sake ... if people want the alleged 'interview' would it hurt them to NOT have TT on the cover? And the Take That covers were not 'flying off the shelves' ... I think for every 20 Lily covers there was one TT and one Mickey Rourke cover. It stands to reason that a 'straight' man's mag will sell more with a woman on the cover!
Rant over!

Rant over!
Norma
Don't blame you for saying something back - I would have. It was extreme provocation! I couldn't find a TT one at all and ended up buying a Lily one. Didn't even bother reading any of the other interviews. Am raging with myself that I wasted my money. Am buying a new apartment at the moment and every penny counts! I would deffo have taken your advice had I seen it.

If I were you I'd read every scrap of the magazine now. I bought a GQ a few years back mainly for a TT interview (but it was a really good, informative one over about six or seven pages - by a good interviewer). But I still made sure I got my money's worth by reading the bloody thing from cover to cover and there were about another dozen or so articles in there that were highly entertaining.

Maybe I will. Had a quick flick at the time and was put off by all those pics of Lily Allen in her pants . I suppose it was to be expected that there wouldn't be pics of TT in their pants in a men's magazine

This might be only slithly related with TT http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/11724372/The-Parody-Album/Product.html . I hope we might have some Gary songs on it as he loves to make parodies (which till now i like - starting with She said who was not a parody but an ironic song and the "Over and over and over again" ). Well, i am looking for that

I think it may have the 'Greatest Day' parody on it! Which I must admit ... the lyrics are far better than on the original song. I think they were written by 'Comedy Dave' on the Chris Moyles show!

Well, it is not very difficult to have better lyrics than GD, perhaps that takes 2 points from the song in my books . But I still hope Gary and CM will make something new for the album

I was hoping you'd see it! Yes - its the same three Stepford Wives who keep having a go at me! Or are there more now? I don't care! I'll get over it! Honestly ... some people have nothing better to do than to post on message boards every day!
You got my point didn't you? I mean ... I think Gary is doing a good job - but at the end of the day ... it raises his profile as well. Its the same with Rob and his annual football charity thing. Its not like I was even criticising Gary for having his profile raised ... I was just stating fact.

Speaking about flop, have you seen this? I cannot believe they call it a flop! It is the fourth single of the year in terms of sell if i am correct ! Even if i don't like it or Robbie's musical style for the matter, i won't dream to brand a no 2 as a flop!

News of Robbie's flop comes 18 months after unsold copies of album Rudebox were used to resurface the roads in China. Maybe all the unsold copies of his new single will end up in landfill sites. Then at least we'll know where the Bodies buried...

Exactly - no-one's saying there's anything wrong in that either ... but if it was Joe Bloggs organising it - you can bet they wouldn't be praising Joe Bloggs. Its good that people like Rob, Gary, Leona, etc, etc put their names to things - it draws the crowd in .... but I'm sure all of them think '... and it doesn't look too bad on my CV either'.
Anyway ... I'm off to bed now ... I've looked in on the TT site to see if there is anyone else I can wind up but if I'm honest ... they bore me to tears now. There's only a few on there that I like (or at least have the same 'iffy' sense of humour as me) and they don't seem to post too much. Probably they're just as bored as I am!

The Mirror is always making snide remarks about Gary though its just that they aren't picked up on so much because they are 'snide'. I don't think the Mirror likes either Rob or Gary. But to call his single a flop is a bit daft considering its sales. I mean - I think both Alex's single and Rob's single are just average - but the sales are incredible - it doesn't make the songs any better. And remember ... The Sun was calling RTW a flop the year before last when Leona's BL beat it to the top. Mind you ... BL was a far better song than Bad Boys. I just hope it doesn't go on to achieve greater sales than BL as that would be truly ridiculous.
Rob's doing good in Europe though so as I've said in the general thread, I doubt he'll be too concerned. How is the German chart made up? Is it all sales or a mix of airplay and sales?
I wouldn't be too bothered about the press reaction to the TT live cd. For a start - it'll easily make the top 20 - which is good because as a live album it won't be expected to reach the higher end of the chart. The press didn't slate them when the De-Luxe album didn't take BW back to the top of the chart so I can't see why they'd do it now. Besides ... there'll be so many genuine 'studio' albums fighting for the top spot - I should imagine the press won't see TT as headline material.

I agree robbie and alexandras singles are very average for me i slightly prefer alexandras song, but robbie is doing very well sales wise and would have been easily number 1 in any other week of the year, so its a stupid thing for the mirror to call it a flop. The mirror i agree arent as take that/robbie friendly/obsessed as the sun, but im sure if take that love cd's doesnt go top 10 they will mention it but if they carred out their research properly they would know live albums are never a huge threat in sales wise.

I know it's a pretty impressive amount for them to sell in one week. I was only saying the other day that I had been keeping an eye on the first week sales of some of the big acts recently to see if they could match them. I have to admit that I was mainly interested to see if RW could do it and was delighted that he didn't! Childish I know I'm pretty sure that TT were around the 130K mark in the Tuesday midweek if I remember correctly?

Yes Norma i had the same though about Robbie as there was so much hype about the album , and when 2 big album go head to head like jls and robbie did it always drives sales up, so i was pleasntly happy that robbie fell around 200,000 short of beating take that, like you said yourself Norma childish i know, but i aint as forgiving as gary!!!
Susan is doing great, think take that were over 150k on the first day but im not sure, i dont think susan will match the circus opening sales but she will sell about 350k i think which is absolutly brilliant and well done to her as i genuinly think she is a lovely person with a great talent and its lovely to see her finally have the success she has dreamed of for years.

I love the Abbey Road version as you can hear more of the other vocals from Howard, Jason and Gary more than on the 'proper' version. I'm not sure anyone has covered it (you could look on Youtube for 'unofficial' ones I suppose). Other than that ... if its the tune you like .... listen to Lily Allen's Who'd Have Known (I'm loving this more and more each time I play it ... glad someone thought to put the CD in my Christmas stocking.)

AS i was one of not so fussed about the tour, i still love Up all night, more after Abbey Road version . Yeah, it would have been helped by a visual part like the boring What is love or like any other song, i see. But i think Mark and Jason wanted to make a statement, such a pity it didn't work it out. Na ja, people just wanted from TT dances and glizzer and theatrical. Hold up a light and Said it all were helped, Patience and Up all night were not. Only when Gary takes his Elton John momentus everybody is happy also without bangs und cracks.
To be honest , i am not making any hopes about the new CD: The Circus was so great but everything went wrong in promotion and expectation.
Posted by: IrisAlbastru 16th January 2010, 12:54 PM
Now about the covers. You can think it is very easy to cover TT. Well, it is not. Gary is hard to cover as he have his angelic voice and Mark is hard to cover because 90% of artists nowadays are not capable to put such a passion in their voices - normally the music bring the "up" and not the voices (inclusive Gary, that is why Gary is good at ballads but not so good at up-tempo songs. I cannot fugure out Gary belting the Shine...). Howard and Jason are also not so easy to cover (well, Jason would be from someone good in country-folk style). The only acceptable cover of Shine is this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqCIVt8Tj-8 .

But Shine was better on the Abbey Road CD (I much preferred it to the concert performance). Up All Night was good at the concert but to be honest ... the only ones that looked comfortable with musical instruments were Jason and Gary. It is still probably my favourite song on the album ... I was just expecting more at the concert. And it had nothing to do with there being no 'special effects' ... the song, vocally, just had no spark at all.

I can't imagine anyone else singing Take That songs other than the guys. Especially Mark ... I love his voice on the songs he sings. Mind you ... I don't like anyone other than Dylan singing Dylan songs and (apart from Joe Cocker singing WALHFMF) I can't stand anyone else singing Beatles songs other than The Beatles.

Much songs are better on Abbey Road as on tour IMO, as they show another side. THe first time i liked HDICTT, for example.
I am still very disspointed that they never sing We all fall down. I just love it, such a pity is just a b-side...
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 17th January 2010, 05:49 PM
Im not a huge fan of the abbey road stuff at all but as i said before its not the style of music i ever enjoy, i complatley agree and understand what yer saying about up all night on the tour it did lack the magic it has on the cd but i also felt it lached the spark it had when they performed on the itv show they did and the ant and dec show, i think the ant and dec performance of up all night is still my fave performance of the song.

Norma
Yeah, I definitely like it a bit more. The original has been so overplayed that I almost blank it out when it's played, but this one made me listen to the lyrics more. I like them, I just don't rate Mark that much anymore.
I'm aware of the Lily Allen song, I was sort of hoping she'd covered it somewhere too, and I couldn't find it. The Abbey Road version made me think it'd sound really nice acoustically with a female vocal, like Lily Allen, on it. It sounds so much better stripped down. (partly because it gets rid of the Morrisons ad part!)

The sad thing is there are people commenting on the Greatest Day video on Youtube that they cannot find it to download. That is because it isn't available to download in the US. I am not delusional...I know they are never going to be popular here. But I hate the fact that there are some people in the US who saw it on Idol, want to download it and can't.
I noticed the Something Kinda Oooh audition too. Maybe Simon is behind all of it?!?!
Biggie! I actually like Girls Aloud.

Well, to be honest, todays pop music, for the most part, doesn't appeal to me, Renee....it seems pretty much all the same....almost as if cut from the same cookie cutter mold....I tend to lean more toward the hard/classic rock music.....

It was the same with Rule The World though after Stardust. I know lots of US users on IMDb asking where they could download the song and they couldn't ... it wasn't even on the OST for them to do so. The thing is ... Take That do songs that are real roof-raisers (that could be used at US sporting events) and yet they'll never get the chance. I can imagine RTW or Greatest Day being played at a break in the Superbowl.
I like Girls Aloud too.

No Take That entry ... but thought I'd post this here ... surely Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer is still the best (I think it has officially been recognised as the best via other polls).

I'm afraid nothing, nothing on earth (so far) is as good as the Peter Gabriel video. If I could have chosen three though ... the other two I'd have chosen would have been Britney Spears Toxic (I'm not sure though if that isn't just because I love the song so much) and ... A-ha's Take On Me. If I could choose 10 ... I'd probably have Robbie in there.

Well, the US defence just couldn't tighten up, like they did against Algeria.....( of 24 goals allowed were in the first 15 minutes of the matches leading up to their loss Saturday against Ghana....England were just to disorganised all way round, I think.....too many I players in the team.....a saying that the US squad seems to live by is, 'there's no I in team'....also, the English squad just seems to have too many massive egos, like the French squad....my opinion on the English and French squads....

Eh, still looking for work.....had an offer from a company.....offering me wages I made 8 years ago.... I have a couple people telling me, hey, it's better than no wages at all.....our 'wonderful' president here, isn't helping any.....
You know Biggie I've found that out. In 2004 I quit a job in a case of cutting my nose off to spite my face ... and yet right now ... I'm temping working for the average hourly rate I was on all those years ago! Had I stayed in that job - I'd have been (for the region of the UK I'm in) on a much higher hourly rate than most.
Having said all of that ... 12 years ago when we lived down south - I was on 20K a year for a very easy secretarial job ... up here ... you'd be lucky to be on half of that ... and they'd expect a lot more for their money. Northern bosses are such b*stards!

Jobs are so fickle these days and we all really have to go with what we can that suits us, the days of getting great pay is getting harder to find and i dont know about the UK but i think here in Ireland it will be a long time before those days return again.

Speaking of Nigel ... I think is the perfect time for him to make an absolute bundle from his memoirs! I'd buy a dozen copies for friends and relatives at Christmas! Seriously ... I don't see why he shouldn't clear up from all of this.

Have you been watching any of the golf Biggie (or don't they bother showing sports stuff on US TV unless Americans are doing well in it?)

I've watched it in bits and pieces, Norma....congrats to the South African, Oosthuizen, or however his last name is spelt, for winning the Open, on Nelson Mandela's birthday, no less....John Daly, and Phil Mickelson both finished at +1....and Tiger was at like -3 0r -4....The Open was aired all 4 days on ESPN here...

Well, a week ago today, twisted me ankle at work, which as it turns out, is fractured....went to an orthopædist today for him to have a look at my handiwork....he confirmed that, indeed, it is fractured, and, put me in a removeavle fiberglass boot, until I return to him next week, for more xrays, to see how it's healing.....if it's not healing properly, surgery may be involved, to repair the damage I caused....now, I can't get comfy with this boot on me ankle.....

I had an accident a few weeks back ... a collision between my toe-nail and the sofa. The sofa won. Then ... the week after ... I broke the middle toe of my other foot!
