This was always my favourite Now, I remember buying it on the day of release (while I was on holiday in Great Yarmouth ) purely to get Better Off Alone as the radio edit wasn't on the CD single. Hidden away at the bottom of Disc 2 but the compilers had no idea how big it would turn out to be, I initially expected a run of 4-8-14-22 etc...for it.

Shame about the likes of Cast, Gomez and James, complete non-entites of songs. Doodah was the worst though, I love cheesy pop but The Cartoons were a step too far, awful.

'Pick A Part That's New' was the final single from their second studio album 'Performance and Cocktails'. Texas returned in 1999 with a new album 'The Hush' and a new single 'In Our lifetime', which was a nice chilled out summer track. Geri Halliwell was the first of the Spice Girls to go solo with her debut 'Look At Me' peaking at Number 2. The Vengaboys kept the dancefloor moving with their first Number 1 single 'Boom Boom Boom Boom', which was taken from their 'Party Album'.

Blur followed up their Number 1 smash 'Tender' with 'Coffee and TV' as the second single from their album '13'. Shanks & Bigfoot just miss out on the Top 10 here with their classic 'Sweet Like Chocolate', but only just as it shares the same score as the track at Number 10, but that track has scores of 11's.

Sadly Hey Boy, Hey Girl only managed number 3 but thankfully they had 2 other excellent songs reach the summit.

One of Basement Jaxx's biggest and most well known tracks 'Red Alert' makes it into the Top 5 on this rate. Taken from their album 'Remedy'.



3. DJ Jurgan Presents Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone (8.47) - Had 11's.

Another big summer dance song doing well in this rate today. 'Better Off Alone' went to Number 2 and was the first of two big hits for Alice Deejay in 1999.

Well done to Fatboy Slim, whose third single from 'You've Come A Long Way Baby' album tops the Now 43 rate with a staggering average rat of 9.21. 'Right Here, Right Now peaked one place lower on the official chart in 1999.

No. The Pogues had an average score of 9.66 on the Now Chrismas rate.

In the Numbers series the highest I've had is Robyn's 'With Every Heartbeat had an average of 9.30 on Now 68.
