I read a really good article on Buzzfeed which icr now but it had a theory that the 15 tracks on the album = the 15 Taylor's at the end of the Reputation video in the line and each Taylor corresponds to a song, so LWYMMD is track 6 and that corresponds to the 'keeping receipts' Taylor which acc makes sense!
Also I don't believe it at all but I've seen a rumour that the 8:47/track 4 is actually an album track and the extended version of All Too Well. I really hope that's true cos I've needed that in my life for 5 years now

The chorus is quite good but I'm not really loving the rest of the song not really into how she sounds like she's rapping in the verses :/ the production is a little too aggressive for me as well but I'm hoping to grow on the song as a whole

This feels very try-hard to me. I am definitely enjoying it far more than LAWYMMD but there is something cringey about it again (especially the verses).
'1989' was so praised/well-received because of how natural it all seemed. This era so far has been exactly the opposite.

Eh, some artists can get away with the 'less polished', trashy style of music that's a bit more on the out there side (like for example Swish Swish is totally out of the ordinary for Katy but I LOVE the concept of it and the production is sfg), but for Taylor I've always enjoyed her more basic and pure-pop songs, this era just seems a lot more forced and pretentious. I'd kill for her to bring out a pop anthem for the second single instead of taking these creative risks that just portray her to be an unpleasant person.

I'm really quite liking this darker edged electro-pop thing she seems to be going for this time, I'm starting to get a feel for the album's sound and if it all continues along this route I'm actually kind of excited for it. It's risky for someone like her, I like that.

Not really feeling this. I suppose that could change but 'Look What You Made Me Do' had me instantly hooked and huge replay value. The pre-chorus is nice but the dub-step bit spoils the momentum. Quite crazy how this has shot to #1 so quickly when it's only a promo single, although I guess people don't care/aren't aware of whether it's a promo single or not and are so eager for new Taylor music.

Just heard this on the chart show for the first time and I am floored by how good it is I think the production is storming and the "baby let the games begin" segment is the highlight of the vocals, so catchy. 'Reputation' is shaping up to be a great album so far.
Posted this in the chart show thread also, but I can't shake the slight similarity of Ital Tek - 'Cobra' (a Pavel BJSC entry) in the production of the verses, which is weird as that song is incredibly uncommercial and flopped in the BJSC final a bit, but yeah there ya go

Finally managed to listen to this... hmm.. I like it more than LWYMMD but for some reason I'm feeling a little underwhelmed by it.. maybe I wasn't paying attention to it properly or something (which is possible as I just finished work and got my washing on etc.) So I shall listen again soon enough.
Eek. I hope this isn't going to be the musical version of 'Dunkirk' for me (in that I was disappointed in it despite not hating or disliking it, but wanted to love it so much more than I ended up doing so)

There was a period when I wanted this to be a the 2nd single but now I think they should label this a promo single and release something else as much as I love the song. Even with Radio 1 A-list airplay and being Top 25 on the airplay chart it's still falling on Spotify; I really can't see how it will recover and make it back to the Top 10 at this rate.

I really can't see any of those artists collaborating with Taylor though - maybe Jeremih as he's a nobody and would love the publicity but Drake? Not a chance.

So Cardi knocks her song out of the top of the Hot 100 and Taylor saw that as an opportunity rather than competition. From a monetary standpoint, it makes sense. Both songs (Bodak & LWYMMD) got a ton of streams and sold tremendously this year.
I'd personally not have a rap feature edit because this song doesn't really need it but if it ends up escalating the track then sure. RFI has a similar structure to Power and gives off the same aura and yet the latter had an extra rap credit, so maybe Taylor is planning to maximize worldwide profits. Can't really make any judgments until I hear it though.

Oh god I really hate to say this because she's made such incredible videos but...
I was really expecting more.
I saw the visuals and the anime references in the trailer and I immediately thought this was going to be some 7-minute Bad Blood-esque epic and then this came out and not only does it feel waaay too short, there doesn't seem to be that much action and the only references I could get were Ghost In The Shell and Kamen Rider. It's beautiful to look at... I just feel like at this stage in her career she could give more.

First view I was underwhelmed by the storyline (I didn’t get it) but loved the visuals, second view now I’m really loving working out what the meaning is. At the moment I’m theorising it is the new Taylor killing/torturing the old Taylor but something goes wrong and the old Taylor wins - but she’s still a little bit different to before (the blue eyes at the end).
I’m sure my theories will continue to change!

Yeah I agree, it all looks really glossy and well produced, but I found it quite slow paced and lacking in drama which goes against everything that's exciting about the song. Unless you're a big fan looking for the nuggets in this, I'd agree about the lack of replay factor because there's little to go back to.

She did well at building hype for this as I was really excited for the video from the trailer. But the finished product is so underwhelming! I was actually one of those who did like the 'Bad Blood' music video but this one takes style over substance to another level. It felt like she was just walking for 2 minutes which really didn't fit the energy of the song. Then something actually started to happen towards the end and that didn't even feel particularly exciting it all looks very glossy and visually impressive as Joseph Kahn videos usually do but the content is nothing special. Disappointed after how fantastic the 'Look What You Made Me Do' video was! I wanted this to be more action packed to fit with such a thrilling song.

Yep and it doesn't really work as standalone piece of art either.
The shooting, however, probably didn't took longer than 4 hrs though, most of the money was put into post-production, effects and such, not location etc.
