News on the artist & song is coming very soon, but this tweet from a theatre production group is getting people very excited..
I hope we get some news on this very soon,
“Story of my Life” by Lesley Roy is dropping in 30 minutes!
Ok this isn’t the worst. It’s a tad dated but I think it could, with the right staging, be a bit of a bop.
It is a bit “Et Cetera” and 2010 era Katy Perry kinda vibes so agree with a bit dated, but I love that kind of music so I’m well on board!
I really like it, it's very late 00s but that's an undeniable chorus.
I reckon an easy finalist for Ireland and a mid-table finish in the final, as this type of power pop isn't usually a recipe for a major Eurovision smash.
It's definitely dated but in the best way, I mean ofc 2010 Katy Perry kind of vibes is one of the best vibes you can pull off! I'm not sure it will do hugely well though as this kind of thing rarely does, but it's gonna be one of my faves of the year either way. The nostalgia will probably see it as a fan fave, I hope it works in the contest too, it will qualify anyway.
This is marginally better than shards of glass being spilt into my ears.
I love this Dublin Pride 2013 theme song and I am UNASHAMED!
This really does seem like an unreleased Part Of Me era Katy Perry song and I love it but yeah this ain't doing much in RTM
I'm kinda getting a bit into Eurovision again so I listened to this straight away a few times. My friend was at my place and he said he thought I was listening to P!nk haha. It's a very catchy song - I can't see myself being drawn back into it much but I guess most songs in ESC only really need to work in the moment (I forget about most of them later ). I do have a few that I've stuck with over the years tho.
My friend said something like it's generic but at least it's sort of good, rather than generic and crap which Ireland has often been
That’s a name I haven’t heard in a while!
It’s very 2009, I think this hits me a lot more because it just gives me 8th grade me feels. Definitely one of the best things Ireland has put out in a while.
Im very divided on this, maybe after a few more listens i will like it more but it doeskin give me the feeling of we will do well this year.
12 years later, I'm still bopping to I'm Gone, I'm Going.
Ok - so there's room for improvement, to say the least. When she does belt it out, I think she does have the necessary power.
She doesn't sound physically fit to sing the song.
I'm now loving this and I'm not even sorry.
Her LLS performance was PATCHY to say the least but she can hit the notes so it just needs lots of practice. Here's hoping the staging isn't a hot mess.
That live performance Also it sounds like a 2002 song rejected by Avril Lavigne for a b side - not here for Ireland this year and I usually LOVE their entries.
Well from what I remember of when Ireland used to have The Late Late Show as it's National Final, basically everything sounds bad on that show because the acoustics are terrible. So there's reason to believe that the actual final product in May will be a glow up from that.
The song is very Katy Perry of 10 years.
I think if she can brush up on performing better and gets great staging it will help alot. She is a big Eurovision fan and not just doing it for the sake of it so I hope she can at least qualify as it's the best she can hope for as I cant see it doing great. Etcetera is miles better than this and that didnt qualify (although I really think it should have as I still think its a great song).
Et Cetera still bangs (and it's still played on nights out )but the staging was woeful, which is what I think stopped it from qualifying. If this has the right staging and she can pull off a great performance then I think it can do relatively well.
Ya it's still a banger, the staging wasnt bad but could have been better, hopefully they can nail the staging this year.
This is seriously growing on me. I had it 15-20 at one stage. Top 10 now, I think.
I think it would have qualified if eurovision had gone ahead.
I really think it would have struggled to compete against the other songs in semi-1.
If it had qualified then someone from Australia, Ukraine or Israel (my borderline predictions) would have had to have lost their place. Maybe Ukraine might have been a shock non-qualifier.
The other 7 were dead certs - Norway, Russia, Sweden, Malta, Lithuania, Azerbaijan and Romania.
I dont see the appeal of the swedish song at all, I thought our song was better but I suppose we dont have to worry about qualification now
Oh, I enjoy Story of My Life more than I enjoy many of those songs. But qualifying was going to be difficult with the buzz surrounding all those other songs.
I had a hope that this would have qualified - best song from Ireland for a few years
Yeah I agree, Romania really felt like the shock DNQ last night. It literally had little to no impact on that running order and we were just scratching our heads about it. I don't see people voting for it at home.
Had massive "qualifier vibes" from Sweden, Australia, Lithuania, Russia, Malta, Azerbaijan, Norway, Israel and Ukraine as those really stood out among the rest.
On the grey area I had Ireland and Cyprus which the latter would lose out (but I still think their staging would've given them a lifeline). Romania would follow in 12th.
Last place wise, I thought Croatia was a little lost in the middle there however as there are a few former Yugoslav republics in this Semi-Final, last place would've probably been Belgium.
**looks at thread title**
Long story short, I agree that Ireland would've made it by a whisker.
I really dislike the word-play in Romana's song but it has so many fans that I would have thought it was a cert. Perhaps I was wrong.
Australia would have improved their staging and I think it would have gone through. Maybe Ireland might have surprised. It might just have connected with a demographic of the viewers that had not been anticipated and managed to get enough votes.
The staging would have key and they had teased that some great staging was coming.
Ireland screamed 10th place in the semi last night, which I would not have been mad at!
Having watched the home video Lesley did I now think there was no chance of qualifying. She seems not to be able to sing the song live.
Lesley has confirmed she has been asked back for next year by RTE
It gives her a year to work on her live vocals...
Interesting to see what style of song she will go for next time round.
