BuzzJack Music Forum _ Kylie and Dannii Minogue _ Kylie Eras

If you could relive any Kylie era and not change anything at all which one would it be and why?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 28th July 2019, 03:45 AM

Is it based in success or preference of music ?

Posted by: Monzo 28th July 2019, 08:41 AM

You overlooked the Let's Get To It era, that says a lot...

I've enjoyed the Light Years era the most because Kylie was finally herself again. If I could revive an era it would probably be Rhythm Of Love, because I was kid back then and I was kind of irritated of Kylie's new direction in style and behavior. I guess I was too innocent to enjoy it. Still, I remember listening to BTDYK for the first time on the radio and loving it immediately.

Based on everything - music, campaign, videos, promo etc.,

OMG laugh.gif The era and album I hate - I must have sub-consciously erased it from my memory laugh.gif

I voted for the 'Fever' era, as I remember it so vividly as it was an amazing time being a Kylie fan, as it finally seemed she was getting the credit she deserved and fully secured her place on the almighty a-list. While 'Light Years' brought her back from the wilderness, but it was 'Fever' that cemented her legacy and it was just nice to see her get the credit she fully deserved, and plus it was nice seeing her win new fans, and seemed more successful than she was during her PWL heyday.

While 'LY' will always be my favourite Kylie album, however it was 'Fever' that really opened doors for her and yeah this was a more refined and polished offering, and plus I don't think anyone was expecting the level of success that this was about to receive. 'Fever' ranks as my 2nd fave Kylie album and the 4 singles that were released are/were just perfect. The lead single 'Can't Get You Out of my Head' really set the tone perfectly and was one of those songs that you just knew was gonna be huge and everything was just so chaotic during this time (especially the media interest) and the battle they tried to create between her and a certain Victoria Beckham, but come on we all knew who was gonna come out on top, for god's sake this song sounded like an instant classic upon first hearing.

'In Your Eyes' & 'Love At First Sight' were just perfect (and both deserved to be chart toppers in my opinion) & even 'Come Into My World' was a great ending to this era, and it did feel like it was complete by this point. My only slight gripe is that I wanted more, 'Love Affair' would have made a great 5th single, just imagine the music video & promo it would have got like all the other singles. So on the whole this era was just a very special time to be a Kylie fan.

Fever, but not because its my favourite album because its not, I just remember being a university, going out and every bar, gay or straight was playing kylie and she was just everywhere and everyone loved her, so many great memories of that time.

Posted by: ___∆___ 28th July 2019, 04:37 PM

^^ Totally agree, Fever is not my favourite either but Kylie was at the top of her game in terms of commercial success and was everywhere, amazing time to be a fan.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 29th July 2019, 02:06 AM

Not my fave either but Fever, it was kylie mania she was huge then and was everywhere.

Posted by: Euphorique 29th July 2019, 09:27 PM

Light Years. It was when I became a fan of hers

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 29th July 2019, 10:13 PM

Light years was a huge one for me and I much prefer it personally but for overall success fever brought kylie to her peak.

Posted by: pippa 30th July 2019, 01:24 PM

Light Years.

Fever brought new levels of success for Kylie and more international success in addition to her biggest hit in America for years.
That said, Light Years helped set all that up as it reignited huge levels of interest in Kylie.
Light Years returned Kylie to m,mainstream success and returned her to the Top of the singles chart.
Light Years ticked all the right boxes and her era i hold with huge regard.

I voted for rhythm of love. Perfect four singles which are all classic tracks and a great album.

Posted by: pippa 30th July 2019, 05:44 PM

As an era, Rhythm of Love had the perfect singles but the album under-performed and Kylie's popularity went into decline.
Rhythm of Love is now seen as the album that changed Kylie and it is disappointing the album sales doesn't reflect how great the singles were and how successful they were.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 30th July 2019, 09:28 PM

Rhythm of love deserved far more success but the popularity of those 4 singles is more now than back then.

Posted by: pippa 31st July 2019, 01:26 PM

Rhythm of Love may have disappointed with sales but it was a huge stepping stone in ensuring Kylie would be a long player.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 1st August 2019, 02:14 AM

The album does feel it was bigger than what it was and better the devil you know feels like it was a number 1. Have to say listening to SBIT has me liking shocked far more than I have done so for years as its not in my most played Kylie songs at all.

For me, it's X, the tour was a big highlight for me.

Posted by: aeroco 1st August 2019, 08:26 AM

Fever as they made all the right decisions...others all seem to go wrong after great starts...Light Years should definitely have had a fifth single, the first four too close together, mainly due to Kids. X was great fun, loads of promo but The One was never properly showcased. 2 Hearts should have been a pre single, The One released as the ‘launch’.

Easily the best 4 singles but the era let down by Kylie fatigue with the general public. Great videos but generally promo a bit flat.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 1st August 2019, 09:50 AM

Ya the light years singles were to rushed which was really to accommodate kids, if spread more and a 5th single light years maybe well over 500k by now, still a great great great era though

Posted by: pippa 1st August 2019, 11:20 AM

If any Kylie album was capable of serving a 5th single it was Light Years as the album was packed with choices.
That said, maybe a 5th single may have met with success it may have missed the Top 10 and Kylie would not have went on to have her run of 16 consecutive Top 10 singles.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 2nd August 2019, 11:09 AM

If it got good promo a 5th single may have managed top 10 I think but we will never know, I do agree light years was so packed with single choices.

Posted by: pippa 2nd August 2019, 12:19 PM

The Light Years tour is a tour i would have thoroughly enjoyed but did not get to it.

Kids sick2.gif The song that never goes away.

Posted by: pippa 5th August 2019, 07:18 PM

Kids gets a lot of hate but i think it is appreciated more outside the fanbase.
It did provide Kylie with a 3rd consecutive Top 2 hit.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 6th August 2019, 11:34 AM

Ya and it help create even further interest in kylie at that time as robbie was huge back then.

Posted by: pippa 6th August 2019, 01:42 PM

I really did think Kids had Number 1 written all over it due to the popularity of both Kylie and Robbie in that era.

It’s the only song I skip on SBIT and the only Kylie song I truly dislike. Glad it gave her a big hit but if I never heard it again it would be too soon laugh.gif

Yep definitely one that the general public still seem to enjoy too.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 14th August 2019, 12:17 PM

Ya kids is def more popular outside the fan base, I always like it though.

Posted by: pippa 14th August 2019, 01:24 PM

The fans may like it more if it is given a rest on the live performances or if Kylie injects life by performing it with strong duet partners.

Posted by: davidas 19th August 2019, 10:59 AM

For me it's Aphrodite - it just reminds me of a certain time in my live and is such a special album to me.

Also during the Aphrodite tour, whilst watching Kylie at the O2, my boyfriend asked me to be his boyfriend, so again this album has a really special place in my heart

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 19th August 2019, 11:12 AM

Aphrodite was good to and it was likely the last kylie album to gonplstinum and her last era to have a huge hit.
