Insane sales for Britney 20 years ago!
Not much I'm excited for this week, a new peak for CamelPhat would be great but the main thing is that they made the top 40. Not fussed on the new Cardi B, D-Block Europe and Zedd songs set to make the chart, nor the Little Mix song returning. Cadet belatedly making the top 20 thanks to the reset would also be nice to see (and seems likely), I'm glad the song hasn't dropped harshly from last week's boost and that the OCC rules haven't robbed it of a top 20 peak. Hopefully 'Break Up' can remain at #1 over '7 Rings' as it's the better song imo but I would predict '7 Rings' to take it. |

Missed the top 40 this week?
YUNGBLUD and Halsey featuring Travis Barker 11 Minutes 2nd single from second studio album Released: 14th February 2019 Label: Locomotion Recordings Video Biography YUNGBLUD Yungblud is the hip-hop-influenced rock outfit created by musician Dominic Harrison. Born in Yorkshire, England, the singer/songwriter was raised in a musical family. His father was a vintage guitar dealer and his grandfather played with T. Rex. Influenced by Bob Dylan, the Clash, and the Beatles, he played guitar and sang from a young age. In 2017, when he was 19, he issued his debut single, "King Charles," a genre-blending protest song that fell somewhere between early Arctic Monkeys, Jamie T, and Rat Boy. He followed with the song "I Love You, Will You Marry Me," which incorporated some dub and grime elements. A major-label deal with Geffen yielded Yungblud's first collection, an eponymous 2018 EP that included his first two singles alongside three new tracks. The title track and lead single from his forthcoming LP, 21st Century Liability, appeared in May of that year. - iTunes Halsey Halsey is the alias of New York-based pop artist Ashley Frangipane. The New Jersey native took her moniker from a New York L train subway stop, and her adopted city plays a large role in both the sound and lyrics of her dark, gritty electro-pop, which has been compared to acts like Chvrches and Lorde. Based on the strength of her first single "Ghost," she signed a deal with Capitol-owned electronic/dance label Astralwerks in early 2014. Her debut EP, Room 93, arrived in October of that same year. In 2015, Halsey released her debut full-length album, Badlands, which featured production from Lido, the Futuristics, Son Lux, and others. Included on the album were the singles "Ghost," "New Americana," "Colors," and "Castle," a version of which also appeared on the soundtrack to The Huntsman: Winter's War. Badlands debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and sold well, ultimately achieving gold certification status. In January 2017, Halsey returned with the single "Not Afraid Anymore," which was featured on the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack. Three months later, she released "Now or Never," the first single from her sophomore album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom. Featuring collaborations with Sia, Greg Kurstin, and Benny Blanco, the LP appeared in June 2017 and topped the Billboard 200. A remix of the LP's dark pop single "Alone," featuring Big Sean and Stefflon Don, arrived in March 2018. - iTunes _______________________________________________________________ Top 100 Chart History YUNGBLUD 2019 __ 11 Minutes (YUNGBLUD & Halsey feat. Missed the top 40 this week?
DigDaT and Loski No Cap Non-album single Released: 16th February 2019 Label: Relentless Records Video Biography DigDaT South London-based U.K. drill artist Digdat takes the languid beats associated with the genre and applies a more technical lyrical flow than his peers. Digdat first emerged as a guest feature on Headie One's "The One Two" in June 2018. In the following months, he went on to release two of his own singles, "Tactics" and "Air Force," the latter of which pegged him as a rising talent in the scene; both tracks featured production from CZRBeats and were released on GRM Daily. - Spotify Loski Every area has a top boy – an influence that the local kids look toward as an inspiration, a source of power, a king. In the south London district of Kennington, that star is an nineteen-year-old MC called Loski; striking out earlier this year with the long-awaited and highly anticipated debut solo mixtape ‘Call Me Loose’. “Money & Beef” and “Cool Kid” were tracks from the project that quickly cemented Loski as the one to watch in London’s drill scene. Unleashing his mixtape was only just the beginning... Loski has since gifted his supporters with a number of releases, including ‘Calm Down’, 'Cheque', 'Chop My Money' alongside iLL BLU and Krept & Konan, and 'Hot Steppa' with Steel Banglez. Rich in terminology that can only come from an MC who has lived a life on road and emerged onto the other side, his music presents an honest artist who is looking forward and unafraid to level up. - Spotify _______________________________________________________________ Top 100 Chart History DigDaT 2018 20 AirForce (feat. pretty excited for this week actually, should be a good amount of debuts although I don’t know how much the BRITs will offset that. |

great songs in the 1999 list from 20 years ago
especially Ex-Factor by Lauryn Hill, such an amazing track, didn't do as well as Doo Top (That Thing) but has some of the best lyrics, possibly the best breakup song ever <3 |

The whole 1999 top 10 is great, I was so gutted The Corrs decided to re-release Runaway (their best ever song for me) against the Britney juggernaut though. Not that those sales would have seen it at No.1 in most of the surrounding weeks either mind.
The 2009 top 10 is very strong too, as it was during most of the year! Hopefully 2019 will be another good year for music going by this basis. |
