Sorry that's massive.

Snap! Amazing song.

Posted by: Aidan Mar 31 2012, 09:35 AM

There are rumours from a PJ member that the single will premiere on April 20th on Radio 1. ohmy.gif

Posted by: Slick Mar 31 2012, 05:31 PM

I wonder if this will trump Charlotte Church's 'Call My Name'? If it does, it'll be EPIC.

Posted by: Umi Apr 1 2012, 12:14 AM

Lots of pictures coming from the shoot:

HOT!

Loving the new hair too biggrin.gif Officially excited for this project! I'll open a separate single thread when there's concrete news on the title biggrin.gif

Lily posted another pic with the caption "Call My Name".

She's looking great there biggrin.gif

So excited! I agree, if it's as good as Charlotte Church's song of the same name it'll be bloody amazing!

Topic split.

So excited for this now! I'm guessing it's called "Call My Name", but it could be "Say My Name" too.

Posted by: Jack Apr 1 2012, 09:29 PM

Intrigued to see what she'll come up with, hopefully it's alot better than what she's previously done. I only really enjoyed 'The Flood' and 'Fight For This Love' until that got ridiculously overplayed.

Posted by: Tommy Apr 1 2012, 10:23 PM

Did you found more pics? I'm waiting for her music, but I'd like to see her tattoo, and I have the impression that her breasts are smaller:(

Posted by: CHЯIS Apr 1 2012, 10:45 PM

VERY excited for this. Wasn't a fan at all of Messy Little Raindrops (bar Promise This), but I did love 3 Words. Hopefully we'll be hearing this soon! biggrin.gif I wonder if she'll get a push in the US, off the back of her X Factor appearance? They know who she is now (kind of), so I don't see why it wouldn't be worth a try. Is anything planned?

Posted by: THEO. Apr 2 2012, 11:37 AM

Video director is Anthony Mandler. His past videos include "Maneater", "Irreplaceable", "Disturbia" (and many other Rihanna videos, but that's his best) and "Run This Town", as well as the currently unreleased video for "Starships". It should be fantastic then, from that and the photos above biggrin.gif

Posted by: Johnny Apr 2 2012, 10:47 PM

Really really excited for this. After everything that happened I'd really love for her to come back with a bang and smash it. She looks gorgeous in the pics, one problem I have is the tattoo on her leg! sick2.gif I like all her other ones but that is just absolutely vile and looks cheap.

Posted by: KAD1 Apr 3 2012, 12:40 AM

Finally! Though I am quite apprehensive for the release. I love Cheryl but I wasn't too keen on her last album, four tracks aside. As usual though she looks stunning on the pictures and I'm really glad she's reverted back to brunette biggrin.gif

Posted by: dannjohn3 Apr 3 2012, 08:30 PM

FINALLY! Need my guilty pleasure back!

Posted by: Hayzayy Apr 5 2012, 09:28 AM

I need to know the date of the premiere, the waiting is "killing" me !
It should be really soon now, the video will be ready in one or two weeks I assume, and we already know the title track. She better unleash it to radios soon.

Posted by: Vülker Apr 7 2012, 06:23 PM

Can't wait to hear this.
She made me a loon with 3 Words but lost me with the messy little album. :/
This better be good to justify the lack of Girls Aloud material right now!

Posted by: Silver Rocket Apr 9 2012, 10:01 AM

I hope this is better than 'Promise This', not that it could be worse.

Posted by: Umi Apr 9 2012, 02:44 PM

I love Promise This! It was Fight For This Love that was the dud for me.

(I know this is unpopular)

ohmy.gif

I'm no Cheryl loon but Fight For This Love > LIFE > The rest of 3 Words > Promise This, surely?

Posted by: Liаm Apr 9 2012, 02:54 PM

I never was actually that massive on 3 Words personally. Obviously Fight For This Love is still her best song by FAR, and I also love the title track, Parachute and Rain On Me but tracks like Don't Talk About This Love, Heaven and bloody Make Me Cry are awful.

Messy Little Raindrops had it's awful moments too (Live Tonight is still utterly unlistenable) but LT is the only track I'd skip. I'd say 3 Words has higher highlights but Messy Little Raindrops is my favourite album of hers overall.

Just for the sake of it, Cheryl top 5:
01 Fight For This Love
02 Promise This
03 3 Words
04 Hummingbird
05 Rain On Me

Posted by: Slick Apr 9 2012, 02:56 PM

Both of Cheryl's albums so far have been sloppy and pretty poor by anybody's standards, but 3 Words is definitely the one packed with more genuinely good songs. I can barely listen to Messy Little Raindrops anymore, minus five or six tracks. I'm hoping she's spent enough time on this album for it to be a solid pop album.

Posted by: starryeyed Apr 9 2012, 04:41 PM

I only have 3 Words. The album is ok, the singles and Rain On Me being the highlights. The rest of the album has a cheap sound to my ears, it's like they finished 4 songs and the rest were demos.

Posted by: Carlos V Apr 9 2012, 04:51 PM

FFTL, 3 Words, Parachute, Promise This (It's a tune) and Rain On Me >>>>>>> Hummingbirds, Yeah Yeah, Happy Hour (if only they produced that song better) >>>>>>>>>>> the rest

Posted by: Silver Rocket Apr 9 2012, 05:32 PM

Fight For This Love, Rain On Me, Stand Up and Yeah Yeah are her only 4 actually good songs I'd say. Messy Little Raindrops is probably one of the worst albums I've ever heard, 'Amnesia' being the ultimate horror.

It's a shame, I do actually WANT her to do something good. sad.gif

Posted by: Umi Apr 9 2012, 05:44 PM

The ultimate horror on MLR was Raindrops. One of the worst songs I've ever heard.

I listened to it earlier and that was by far my favourite. tongue.gif I also liked The Flood but the rest just sounded like demos, as others have said.

Posted by: Davidson Apr 9 2012, 06:43 PM

3 Words was an alright album, not great but not awful but Messy Little Raindrops was terrible all round. I absouletly despised 'Promise This' as well. Although 3 Words was of reasonable quality, the only Cheryl song I still listen to today and I would say I really love is the title track. It is just brilliant, and was very different compared to the generic clean cut pop of FFTL

Posted by: Vülker Apr 9 2012, 10:10 PM

I'm surprised no one is mentioning Waiting as the only other track with hit potential from the Messy Little Album.

And I'd have to say

1) 3 Words
2) Fight For This Love
3) Waiting
4) Rain On Me
5) Promise This (brilliantly redone by Adele at Live Lounge)
6) Parachute
7) Boy Like You (I'm a sucker for that sample!)

the rest is a bit naff tbh

Posted by: Aidan Apr 10 2012, 01:15 PM

I'll agree with the general opinion of Messy Little Raindrops. The only song I still like from it is 'Promise This', and even that I haven't listened to in a while.

Also, Calvin Harris has tweeted saying he "can't wait" to see the video. I wonder if this is one of the tracks he's produced?

Posted by: Slick Apr 10 2012, 01:21 PM

Cheryl has just said "you ready Calvin?" in response. Is the first track Calvin Harris produced? EXCITE.

Posted by: Liаm Apr 10 2012, 01:26 PM

She'll no doubt be ripped apart by the media for 'bandwagoning' but if it's anything like We Found Love I am SO ready.

Posted by: Slick Apr 10 2012, 01:40 PM

I want NOTHING LIKE We Found Love. It is possible to work with a producer and produce a song within the same genre without sounding like a total rip-off, and if they've gone for the We Found Love sound it will only disappoint.

Posted by: Matt Aloud Apr 10 2012, 02:16 PM

All this talk has got me to playing 3 Words again. And soon I will dare to pull out the Messy one too!

Some of you are so obsessed with the media... it's worrying.

Posted by: THEO. Apr 10 2012, 09:08 PM

sorry i have not been online much. i hope its nothing like we found love because she was be slated if it is

Posted by: Jonjoria Apr 13 2012, 08:58 AM

Why aren't more people raving about 'Waiting', anymore? That is easily inside the "best of solo Cheryl" top 5 for me.

01. 'Fight For This Love'
02. 'Heaven' (The hate for this is disgusting!)
03. 'Waiting'
04. 'Stand Up'
05. 'Don't Talk About This Love'

'Better To Lie', 'Hummingbird', '3 Words' and 'The Flood' (in that order) are the only other tracks I still have time for. But 'Heaven' is incredible and I don't want to hear any other negative thing said about it sad.gif.

'Stand Up' was truly the missed opportunity from the '3 Words' album. 'Parachute' is still as shit and as overrated as it was once the album was released. I don't get the fuss for 'Rain On Me' either. 'The Flood' does the whole "shout the chorus/the title of the track" so much better. But 'Waiting' is a genius sample!

EDIT: Oh and I've said it before, but I think Cheryl would suit a Calvin Harris produced dance/trance track. It'll smash.

Posted by: Umi Apr 13 2012, 04:15 PM

I used to REALLY hate Heaven but it's grown on me a lot. I like it now.

Posted by: THEO. Apr 20 2012, 10:35 AM

I managed to turn the radio on just as they were introducing it this morning, and unsurprisingly, I love it! The production is very good (it's obviously very Calvin Harris, but it's a lot better than his recent effort with Ne-Yo). I agree that the vocals sound a bit unhearable (if that's a word), but at the moment it has the potential to be Cheryl's best song for me yet! wub.gif Artist with "My Name" in a song title always tend to have one of their finest moments with it laugh.gif

Posted by: Casey__ Apr 20 2012, 11:38 AM

It's good, not anything great or special. She certainly has better songs than this. It's nothing new or interesting, as others have said it's very similar to 'We Found Love' and most others songs that have ripped that off. BUT, it probably will grow on me, as do all of her singles (except 'The Flood'), and when I hear it in a club I'll be LOVING it.

Posted by: Slick Apr 20 2012, 11:40 AM

I'm pretty much with r Case on this one. When I first heard it I was a bit underwhelmed because it does sound very similar to a lot of other songs right now. It's also a bit repetitive and her voice sounds strained on it imo. A couple of listens later I do REALLY like it and I'm sure once I've learned to live with her (pretty terrible) voice on it, I will love it. In a club it'll be amayzing.

Posted by: Sabrina. Apr 20 2012, 11:47 AM

This is on repeat

Didn't think I'd like it from the first few seconds. Calvin Harris production is getting a bit tiresome, but damn this is catchy

Posted by: ☜★☞ Apr 20 2012, 11:57 AM

Oh Buzzjack. Youi'd think this was the second coming based on some of those reactions.

The chorus is fine. The rest is a total nothing of a song. Too disjointed, too many moments where nothing is happening. The transitions from verse to chorus are truly pathetic. 6/10.

Posted by: Kelly Apr 20 2012, 12:36 PM

Underwhelmed. Although, like someone else said I had the same reaction to Fight For This Love and Promise This, so I'm not entirely ruling it out yet. It'll probably grow on me once I've seen the entire package.

I always try to remain neutral and disregard the name of the artist and think "would I like this if it were a new unknown artist?" and thus far the answer is nay.

Posted by: Jonjoria Apr 20 2012, 01:16 PM

I'm undecided on the song. I'm not loving it anywhere near as much as I should and it's all a bit Tulisa 'Young' if I'm honest. (Should be better than what we actually get) Hopefully it'll grow on me and I get used to it. It sounds far too "tinny" in the production and much like how I feel with 'Part Of Me' and 'California Gurls' etc... it just sounds like an unfinished demo.

Not bad, but I was hoping for better. sad.gif

Posted by: Matt Aloud Apr 20 2012, 03:07 PM

I've only heard it in poor LQ through my phone so far. I'll be honest, it didn't blow me away, but that may be down to quality than anything at the moment laugh.gif

Posted by: Aidan Apr 20 2012, 03:30 PM

I am LOVING this after just one listen! It's bound to sound a bit similar to 'We Found Love' because of the Calvin Harris production, but I love it. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Matt Aloud Apr 20 2012, 03:41 PM

And the growing has already sped up a lot laugh.gif heart.gif

Posted by: Jáhq Apr 20 2012, 03:41 PM

This isn't amazing but I never got the fuss over 'Fight For This Love' really, or 'Promise This', so in the long run I think this will be my favourite lead single from her.

Posted by: CHЯIS Apr 20 2012, 03:56 PM

It's alright. I've listened to it 4/5 times, and it's not clicked with me yet. I don't think this style of music really suits her, her voice isn't strong enough to pull it off, unlike Rihanna or Tulisa for example, and I'm not a fan of the production. It may grow on me over time, but at the moment I think it's pretty weak, her worst single to date, bar The Flood - obviously.

Posted by: OutstandingMike Apr 20 2012, 05:53 PM

I found this more instant than FFTL and PT.

Posted by: Umi Apr 20 2012, 05:59 PM

I really like it! I can only really fault it on the outro which is a bit BLAH but otherwise it's great. Isn't quite as good as Promise This on first listen but it's much better than FFTL.

Posted by: J-o-e Apr 20 2012, 06:17 PM

Hopefully it will grow on me but so far Im really underwhelmed, her voice sounds so odd on the chorus.

Posted by: ▲▲▲ Apr 20 2012, 06:37 PM

Those vocals are embarrassing, as are the verses. Oh Calvin. Loved everything he did last year but this, Only the Horses, and the song with Ne-Yo... Yikes.

This sounds so samey to other things out there. Be original Cheryl!

I don't think it sounds so samey to other songs out there.

- This has a real chorus with a good melody (Unlike all those dance songs with no no singing chorus)

- Doesn't have a middle 8

- Doesn't have a pointless rap.

Except the hooks it looks more like a 90s song than the music we have now out there. And it's nothing like WFL, it's more similar to Calvin's solo music.

Posted by: C.W Apr 20 2012, 11:41 PM

this isn't bad, its just so blatantly ANOTHER attempt to recreate this pop/dance/Calvin Harris related club smash and its just getting really tiresome sad.gif

Agreed. I'm glad they didn't go with the Calvin "formula" of late. It's fairly different to all of the songs he's been involved in recently.

Posted by: Vülker Apr 21 2012, 12:35 AM

I like this. Cheryl was supposed to be banging tracks like this all along not R&B/Pop pastiches.
The intro is VERY Jamie xx which makes me love it to the max, and it's just catchy Calvin Harris-We Found Love summery Dance-Pop. THANK YOU!

If Beyonce was releasing this everyone would be giving her hundreds of Grammys.

Posted by: Jack500 Apr 21 2012, 08:03 AM

I don't really like it. Her voice is too quite in the song.

Posted by: Liаm Apr 21 2012, 09:21 AM

Predictably I love it! Doesn't feel that generic to me, I'm not saying it's anything revolutionary but it's more like Calvin's first two albums and not yet another We Found Love clone.

Posted by: Davidson Apr 21 2012, 10:31 AM

I am still not sure what to think of this. I really like the chorus and I do like a good Calvin Harris production, even if it is getting a bit old, but the verses are so bland and her vocals are almost unlistenable.

Posted by: Adam92 Apr 21 2012, 11:02 AM

Not as instant for me as Fight for This Love and Promise This but it's good, should be a grower I reckon

Posted by: AltheGreat Apr 21 2012, 01:20 PM

It's not as instant as her first lead singles for me either. That said, I still love it! Very much looking forward to a KILLER video.

wasn't sure on first listen but after 3rd and 4th i love it w00t.gif

Posted by: Carlos V Apr 21 2012, 06:44 PM

I think we can agree Fight For This Love and Promise This were better songs, but this one is more catchy than Promise This. And people who has heard some songs from the album say there are more superior songs than the single this time.

Posted by: Slick May 2 2012, 11:59 AM

The video's alright. Nothing really happens but I'm glad Cheryl's busting a move because it's definitely a song that requires decent choreography. She looks stunning throughout and a bit like Eva Longoria at times.

Posted by: ☜★☞ May 2 2012, 12:08 PM

I like a video that says in no uncertain terms 'this popstar is big'. If only Alexandra's team would take note. Song's a bit grower too (although it's no Let It Go).

Posted by: THEO. May 2 2012, 03:08 PM

Fantastic video! wub.gif I daresay it's her best yet, but I'll give it a bit of time to sink in before going loon overboard. The song's massively growing on me as well, which is surprising for a song which I loved after the second listen! Great dancing from Cheryl and I love the cinematography of it, and how they kept the "remix" intro from the teaser, which I loved. My only negative would be the tacky font for the quote, and the scene of her in the car gives horrible flashbacks to the hideous "Wake Me Up" and "Something Kinda Ooooh" videos.

Posted by: ♫ Boyan ♫ May 2 2012, 03:25 PM

Posted by: Umi May 2 2012, 05:10 PM

It's an impressive video. I like how confident Cheryl's team are with this release. That said, not much happens in the video which prevents it from being REALLY amazing but I like it very much in any case.

Posted by: Liаm May 2 2012, 05:12 PM

What I want to say has basically been said - very good video but it doesn't go anywhere and it's nothing revolutionary. However it does the job, really hope this is a hit as it's a fantastic song!

Posted by: Silver Rocket May 2 2012, 05:58 PM

It's good! She has me on board for this single, at least.

Posted by: Atonement May 2 2012, 09:02 PM

Great single for her. I think this could definitely be a #1.

Posted by: Lukuzz May 2 2012, 09:05 PM

Suddenly became obsessed with this song, I really liked it but after seeing the video today I've played it numerous times and I now love it! Hope it does well!

Posted by: Johnny May 2 2012, 10:20 PM

Absolutely love the video, easily her best so far. Yes it lacks a storyline as such, but it is sexy as hell and looks expensive. There are the kind of video's she needs to make if she's really gonna try making it worldwide. Big step up in terms of quality. happy.gif Only negative for me, her hair when it's died back in the scene in the mirror. mellow.gif Vile.

Gonna have huge first week sales, and be massive. The video really helps sell the song.

Oh my god you're crazy.

It's quite embarrassing that even with auto tune, computers, voice layers, it's still evident that she's a piss poor singer. The song isn't even mediocre, it's just crap. I must have heard it at least 10 times today and I still can't remember how it goes - plus the video is pretty shit too.

Good thing she has a pretty face.

andd the Marquis De Sade reference, CRIIIINGE im sry but you're being tortured because a man is calling your name? liven up ho

The only good bit is the muffling at the start and the fierce walk-in. If she wasn't such a boring, boring singer and had more of an edge then maybe this would've worked. It's a shame because I really, really do like the song.

Posted by: Robot Reloaded May 3 2012, 08:07 PM

Sadly, I'm not feeling the song nor the video yet. But, I have no doubts it's gonna grow on me.

The video looks high budget, and I love how it begins but then ultimately... 90% of the video is her dancing (and not that well for quite a bit of it) in front of a car, so it doesn't really go anywhere. Slightly like the song. I really like the verses, which gear up to something really good - but then I find the chorus quite tinny and cheap/demo sounding in production, and her voice sounds really thin which I don't like.

However, as a generic dance-pop track, as I say, it will almost definitely start to grow on me when it's thrusted on me on every music channel for the next few months!

It's actually bits of the song slowed down 300% laugh.gif

I recorded the intro off the video in Audacity and played it back 300% faster and it ends up playing the intro at normal speed.

As for the song itself, it's not bad. Decent chorus but the verses are a bit flat. Still doesn't really help that Cheryl is an average singer. No doubt it'll be a massive hit.

Now had this been by Rihanna, she'd take "massive" to a whole new level.

Rose-tinted glasses, maybe, but that performance was just fantastic! Her dancing has improved a LOT since "Fight for This Love". I can't tell if she mimed, but from the "oh oh oh" bit, I think she was singing live (and quite good too). Are they bringing the release forward though? It's a bit odd to have the biggest performance before the song is even out.

Posted by: ✞✞✞ May 26 2012, 06:53 PM

Theo. Please tell me you're kidding. sad.gif It was mimed (and not very convincingly) to a pre-recorded vocal. As somebody who must have watched hundreds of popstar performances you should be able to recognise a lip sync/pre-record! It was a good performance in terms of energy I guess. Posted by: pippa May 28 2012, 08:38 AM

Performing on a show called the VOICE is why people cared she mimed and to be honest i do like her song but it was an absolute joke to mime on such a show.

She could mime on a shitty morning TV show, people would still throw stones at her. "The Voice" thing is just an excuse, and as far as I know, she isn't entering the competition and she isn't even a coach, she is being invited as a performer, and she performed.

3 years on and people are still "surprised/shocked" she is singing over a backing track or using pre-recorded vocals. But YES, that's Cheryl for you. If you can't get on with it, don't watch her performances.

I'm not saying that to be a dick, but it's getting tiresome now. Her performances are all about the OOMPH. Different artists deliver different things. I don't expect Adele to go swan diving, and I don't expect Cheryl to sing a huge ballad flwalessly sitting on a chair. But yet, I can appreciate both kind of performances.

If she wasn't going to sing live, then she/her people shouldn't have made a massive deal that she was going to, which is why I think people are so annoyed.

Posted by: pippa May 28 2012, 11:48 AM

Yes, that is what i am annoyed with is that her people/management made a big thing about her singing live, and Cheryl Cole would be the first in line to say something if another artist did the same thing. I understand people appreciate different performaces and everyone has different taste, but would you be honestly happy going a Cheryl Cole concert and pay a fairly big amount of money to see her mime?

Well, it wasn't her concert, I didn't pay to see her performing on The Voice, no one has as far as I'm concerned, so I am fairly happy with the intense "free" performance she gave.

And as for the tour (if she ever intends to do one - which sounds difficult with the GA reunion anyway), she could always do a "Beyonce" and only sing bits and boobs here and there, do adlibs and stuff, while dancing her ass off with awesome choregraphies, pyrotechnics and visual effects. That will totally do the trick for me.

Cheryl would be the first in line? you really don't know her, do you?

She sang live using a loud backing track, if you want to call that mime, do it, but then call it when Katy Perry, Rihanna and company do it too... or when JLO did it just two weeks ago, although she literally mimed, not backing track or anything.

She did a tour in 2010 with the Peas, she didn't mime...

QUOTE(✞✞✞ @ May 26 2012, 10:12 PM) *

Yes it was. Hence why she didn't use the mic she was holding in her hands to speak to Holly after. Wasn't switched on!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL her microphone was turned on when she finished her Promise This performance on X Factor, does that mean she sang live? that performance was mimed except a couple of lines, unlike The Voice one when she was singing over a loud backing track.

Her people didn't make a massive deal, and she indeed sang live, if they use tricks as a massive backing track so you can't hear how shaky her voice was when she was jumping doesn't mean it was mimed. You just have to hear how every time she sang "name" it sounded "naaiieeiiim" because she couldn't control it and the backing track couldn't hide it.

Big dance routine + loud backing track >>>>>>>>> standing behind a micro

I enjoyed her "Set the fire to the third bar" performance, but I don't want that all the time, I'm not a fan of hers for that kind of performance... plus that song was great for Cheryl's vocal range.

Posted by: Slick May 28 2012, 04:24 PM

I am a pretty big Cheryl critic (although I do love her) and I thought her performance was bloody good. The swan dive entrance, the dancing, the song sounded great (mimed or not) - I just thought it all screamed 'superstar comeback'. Of course live vocals are always an issue with Cheryl, but I'm happy with that performance. It seems pretty well-received so I don't understand why they didn't make it available immediately.

Posted by: Aphrodite May 28 2012, 10:41 PM

it was a silly move not making available after the show and could cost her sales.

Posted by: pippa May 29 2012, 09:45 AM

It is one of her strongest singles and extremely catchy which makes it stranger they have in a way messed the release up a bit.

Posted by: Hayzayy May 29 2012, 11:46 AM

I guess their label is always scared that Cheryl could "flop" with a lead single, so they do everything they can to make sure she charts as high as possible (no matter how many weeks of sales they lose). This and they want the single released as close to the album as possible to maximise the hype around it.
But "Call my name" seems to do brillantly, a lot better than "Promise this", so they could have "risked" an earlier release.

Posted by: THEO. May 29 2012, 05:12 PM

Her performance on The Graham Norton Show is also pre-release... They really should release it this Sunday if they don't want it to lose any more sales manson.gif

Posted by: Umi May 29 2012, 08:00 PM

I guess they care more about the #1 than anything else? But I don't get why they just didn't start this release 2 weeks earlier so it got all the build up and the promo at the same time.

It's a very good sign because very few British artists manage to have fake versions bought. Cheryl's officially on an international league now!

Call my name was heavily used on Big Brother last night, terrible decision not have released call my name this week or last.

The Graham Norton Show performance:

I prefer her performance from The Voice UK, but that's mainly due to the limited performance space there. Still very decent, and should help towards big first week sales/numero uno this week! The interview was great, too! I knew her and Katy Perry would just bounce off each other, and I liked their combined chemistry with Ross Noble too. The red chair was also a highlight, with them both pulling the lever back together wub.gif

That would be mindblowing! *.* But I think at this stage in their music careers, I'm not sure what it would sound like. Katy has never done a proper dance song whilst Cheryl has never done a proper pop song (solo). It would be interesting and fun though! A performance of it would just be crazy!

It sounds like live vocals to my ears (definitely not the "CD" playing), and a few people and journalists who were there tweeted about it being a live performance as well.
I don't need much more proof to believe it.

Some people will obviously say she spent a day in the studio to record a "live" version of the song and then perfectly mime to it to make it look real, but meh, it sounds and looks like a proper live performance, so I'll take it !

Hearing what you what to hear then. Look no offence but you only need to employ basic logic to see that she lipped to a pre recorded 'breathless' backing track. She could barely sing live and in tune whilst standing still at the Jubilee concert - how the hell is she going to give such a flawless live vocal AND do that crazy dance routine?

Graham Norton confirmed on his radio show that she sang live to a backing track as they played a trick on her and turned down the backing track without her knowing - that's why it sounded more live, because IT WAS LIVE.

Call My Name did exceptionally well compared with Promise This. Don't forget there is a worse climate at this point in the year and higher sales generally in Q4. Promise This also had XF on release day which would have boosted it considerably. As well as a CD single adding a couple more thousand. If Call My Name had the same treatment it would have probably sold much more than Promise This.

So well done Cheryl! cheer.gif

I'm kind of surprised they didn't go with a "Cheryl feat. Calvin Harris" artist tag for the single, but maybe neither party wanted that. thinking.gif

Posted by: Padamic Tension Jul 30 2023, 10:31 PM

Calvin usually likes a credit so it's odd he dudnt on this one, cheryl was a big name then as was he so putting both names to it would have been beneficial.

Posted by: spiceboy Aug 29 2023, 04:45 PM

It's interesting that he is kind of suggesting he didn't want to work with Cheryl here, and the lack of featuring his name on it also suggests that when he is keen to spread his name on everything generally. It's surprising because Cheryl was still very much at the top of her game leading up to this release.
