RTJ would have bombed spectacularly anyway so this is kind of a good thing? I'm not gonna dispute that they / especially this song (lol) were pretty massively hyped among certain Internet critics so I GET IT but I'm disappointed the BJSC mods actually went to the effort of bothering to veto it (especially as I was really excited for this to be my entry), when they've let very similar but much more contest-friendly kinds of entries (e.g. Tame Impala) through before :') (Plus I did actually check for blog coverage before I sent it and nowhere near that much came up lol so fair enough).

Nooo at my moral highground being destroyed as well. Ryan will never let me live this down. Cry.

I am all good physically. It's been a right bitch of a fortnight mentally though. I'm attempting to do 4 weeks work in the space of 2 because I go on holiday on Friday, we've changed finance systems (and the new one is shit and barely works), in my own time I'm coding up the financial statements to feed into TRAC for my CIMA PERs, and I've been wardening non-stop. I'm about 1mm away from complete burnout but it's ok because my holiday is almost here.


Lew has been an utter babe and accepted my track this morning Next time I give the ok to dates, i'll check how long confirmations actually is open for instead of just assuming it's a full week

True, though there was a time when having had a hit as guest act didn't qualify as being famous and it wasnt against the BJSC rules. It's not a bunch of hate :/ It's just a bit of an odd thing to say, people read way too much into who is and isn't going to DNQ I've been vetoed a couple of times and subsequently done fine - like with Brooke Fraser when I sent You Don't Own Me instead. I doubt Kings and Queens would have come 5th so it was a blessing in disguise

tbh, just because your first choice was vetoed doesn't mean your back up is DNQ worthy, I ended my DNQ streak with Big Data - Dangerous ft. Joywave which wasn't my first choice, and it came 33rd which may be considered a flop to most of you but it's my 2nd highest placing entry in the main contest

I kindof get the point that Cody is putting across. You could have a song that you really think is going to do well, then at the last minute find out that it's been vetoed and you have no other potentials. But you really want to enter something but you've got little time to go out and find a song, not to mention no time to find out if anyone else likes it, whereas you probably utilised your time with your original entry to decide whether or not to send it.

I think the point is more that Cody shouldn't freak out just because someone is discussing what he said back at him. That does not in any sense = hate or imply that you should delete a post or flip at all.

But yes, historically late vetoes tend to leave people afluster and they enter a hasty entry and DNQ in flames but there's just as many who don't follow that pattern. 78 had Taahino, but it also had N DNTN, both were vetoed at the last minute, and I actually made a point of announcing them both through first when I hosted that semi results because of that.

Don't worry my replacement entry was actually planned to be my BJSC 80 entry before BJSC 79 even began, Dua was just a last minute change of plan due to finding it just before confirmations opened but I'm very happy with my entry now!

Sort of, I confirmed Level 3 but attempted a late change to XYconstant - but couldn't have it due to Silverlined already being entered so naturally reverted back to Level 3. So I saved XYconstant for BJSC 79 instead!

I guess it's always safe to have a few potentials each month so that if the worst does happen you have something you're happy with to send in it's place Although I do get what people mean about the last minute panic as it's not every month where you can find at least two songs you adore, some months you just can't find a song that feels right to send whereas other months you're can't decide between two or three songs

I don't have anything in mind for next year until March/April 2016 calls for a complete refresh of my potentials list and maybe Taahino will look at experimenting with our sound
