We all remember when The Woman in Black became a huge phenomenon in the UK. Facing rave reviews and one of the biggest grosses in the UK for a horror film in 20 years, The Woman in black captivated audiences across the globe and also proved to be a huge surprise hit in the US aswell. After three years of patience, The sequel to the huge hit has finally gotten a release date of January 30, 2015.

Official trailer:

I actually think this looks very similar to the first film, so I don't know what to expect. I just hope it does live up to the first film 's great story, acting and scariness.

The first one is very slow pace but the jump scares have been done very well and there are so many jump scares which will make you're experience uneasy. I loved it as even 15 rated movies arn't has jumpy as this (e.g. Purge, Purge 2, Carrie, Insidious chapter 2). It's very similar to insidious 2 in terms of horror techniques (the way they do jump scares)

Official trailer:

A mixed bag of box office predictions for this so far. pro.boxoffice.com have said it will probably only scrape $10 million and do $23 million domestically.

However, others have long-term predictions for $50 million domestically and Imbd predictas have it at $80 million and a $150 million worldwide (which seems a bit right sue to the first's success and reviews and since sequels have been able to outperform their predecessors)

Looks like promotion in the UK has already begun ohmy.gif Apparently the teasers are clipped with any film with a 15 certificate

Not expected to do well in the US. it's estimated to do $8-9 million in the first weekend and about $25 million in total. However, it's projected to do quite well in the UK in its first weekend/week.

This was terrible. All the characters were so ridiculously unlikeable and just relied on jumps to scare.

I agree with Rotten Tomatoes, the movie itself is very atmospheric and much more intense. It jsut, wasn't scary nor were the characters particularly developed (except for the leading lady). The actual woman in black didn't even appear a whole lot of the movie. Still, the scares (albeit very infrequent) were good and the ending shot of the movie was better than the first one I think. There were loopholes in the story too that could have been ironed out. Jeremy Irvine's character irked me because there was no background story to the character, he was kinda just there.

I'd give it a 6/10 overall.

It was nothing special, a sort of Ten Little Indians with children. I know it was wartime, but you'd think one child's suspicious death would mean a bit of a police investigation, and locals tend to have long memories for tragedies from long ago so someone must have known, after all the building is still there. That doctor, too, what a d*ck. Lazy scriptwriting, all issues that could have been dealt with fairly easily. 4/10.

Better than I expected. it wasn't particularly unique but there was some decent jumps and it was shot beautifully.
