Silly season will be almost upon us, I suspect a few deals will start happening within the next couple of weeks.

Posted by: Mack. 10th May 2018, 04:12 PM

Wayne Rooney has agreed a deal to move from Everton to DC United.

I think stuff will start happening pretty quickly, I think the transfer window officially opens either this week or next week as the window is shut on 11th August this year.

Going to be an interesting one, I think a lot will happen before the World Cup.

Posted by: Dobbo 11th May 2018, 07:59 AM

A previously average player no-one batted an eyelid over will do a James Rodriguez at the World Cup & one of the Spanish giants will fork out £150M for him.

Posted by: Evil Houdini 26th May 2018, 10:08 PM

Gareth Bale looks like he wants to leave Real Madrid as he's not getting first team football there and he pretty much said sign me up during his interview tonight. A return to the Premier League could be likely.

There's only one team in the Premier League who would be stupid enough to buy him.

Posted by: Rooney 28th May 2018, 08:34 PM

Liverpool have signed Fabinho. He was great before Monaco got all their best players nicked.

Looks like he's the Can replacement.

Posted by: Mack. 28th May 2018, 10:19 PM

Very likely that Can will be off to Juventus probably.

Posted by: Mack. 28th May 2018, 10:39 PM

Most likely that Man United would be the club to make a move for Bale.

He's already gone and I am not that bothered to be honest. He is a good player, but there are better.

I think he will go abroad personally but would laugh if this happens. Great player, but just a calamity if he goes to Man Utd. He's not what they need at all.

Posted by: Dobbo 29th May 2018, 12:14 PM

It's just his injury record that's the problem, without that i think he'd be immense for us certainly far more impactful than say, Sanchez.

He's a fantastic player, but almost 29 with a terrible injury record and going to be on probably £500k a week. I can't see anyone in the Premier League going for those wages except Man Utd and Man City. Great player but a complete short term gamble and impossible to shift without taking a massive pay-off..

Posted by: Mack. 3rd June 2018, 03:36 PM

Two £10 million deals for Wolves on Friday with Afobe and Boly both joining the club.

Posted by: Mack. 5th June 2018, 08:56 PM

Man United have signed Fred from Shakhtar for £47m.

Can't say I have seen much of him, but sounds a bit like he's a less good Fernandinho. Reckon he's probably Fellaini's replacement.

Posted by: Mack. 6th June 2018, 01:35 PM

Man United have signed Diogo Dalot from Porto for £19m.

Probably mean that Blind and Darmian will leave.

Posted by: Dobbo 6th June 2018, 03:43 PM

Blind had his moments but Darmian was nothing but a liability so that's something.

Posted by: 5 Silas Frøkner 7th June 2018, 06:08 PM

I love Blind so I will be gutted to see him go. He’s a smart player, I have a lot of time for him.

@Mack - Fred’s fee is £47m according to MEN

Well that's... weird. Will be interesting to see why that's come about.

Nothing for Leeds yet. Another name I'm aware of, Gerard Deulofeu has joined Watford permanently from Barcelona for £11.5 million

Posted by: Mack. 12th June 2018, 09:44 PM

Cardiff City have signed Josh Murphy from Norwich City for £11m.

Posted by: Evil Houdini 13th June 2018, 10:57 PM

Anthony Martial's agent has said that Martial wants to leave Manchester United. It would be sad to see him go but it's understandable as he doesn't play week in week out like he used to under Louis Van Gaal.

Posted by: Rooney 8th July 2018, 03:27 PM

Surely the most bizarre rumour so far is Payet going back to West Ham?

Going to be a crazy 4 weeks post World Cup - exciting!

Posted by: Steve201 8th July 2018, 05:33 PM

Yeh the window closes on the 9th August!

Posted by: Mack. 9th July 2018, 04:45 PM

Posted by: Mack. 10th July 2018, 03:04 PM

Juventus and Real Madrid have apparently agreed a deal for up to £105m for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 10th July 2018, 03:09 PM

Is he still worth that much? He's reached the peak of his career and will surely only get worse over the next few years.

Posted by: Mack. 10th July 2018, 03:42 PM

Pretty much confirmed now by Real Madrid:

QUOTE
“Today, Real Madrid wants to express its gratitude to a player who has proved to be the best in the world and who has marked one of the brightest times in the history of our club and world football.

“Beyond the conquered titles, the trophies achieved and the triumphs achieved in the playing fields during these 9 years, Cristiano Ronaldo has been an example of dedication, work, responsibility, talent and improvement.

“He has also become the top scorer in the history of Real Madrid with 451 goals in 438 games. In total 16 titles, including 4 European Cups, 3 of them consecutive and 4 in the last 5 seasons. On an individual basis, with the Real Madrid jersey he has won 4 Gold Balls, 2 The Best, and 3 Gold Boots, among many other awards.

“For Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo will always be one of his great symbols and a unique reference for the next generations.”

I would say he is worth about £50m at the most.

Real Madrid to now get Hazard?

Posted by: LeeWallace 10th July 2018, 05:11 PM

Brilliant deal by Real Madrid.

Posted by: Rooney 10th July 2018, 06:02 PM

Means Real Madrid are definitely going to sing Neymar or Mbappe then (probably the former). Absolutely amazing deal for Real Madrid, the only madness is that Man Utd have not been sniffing around.. surely this has to be one of the worst transfers of all time? Over £100m for someone who is past his best, bonkers.

Hazard surely going to be off to PSG after Neymar (and or Mbappe leaves).

Posted by: Evil Houdini 10th July 2018, 11:02 PM

Riyad Mahrez has signed for Manchester City in a £60 million deal. Mahrez has been begging to join City for a long time and now he's finally got his wish, I think he will be a good signing for them.

Posted by: Midge 10th July 2018, 11:37 PM

I read it was £99.2m for Ronaldo. I think it's worth the money considering he's still banging in 40+ goals a season; if he was 10 or even 5 years younger and doing the same this would easily hae broken the transfer record.

Consider on top of that, Juventus get one of the most marketable players in the history of the sport, image rights, sponsorships and endorsements, and they'll sell shirts by the bucketload, I think that is a very wise investment and will help Juve move towards their business goals.

Posted by: Mack. 11th July 2018, 08:16 AM

Guess this means Higuain will get shunted out of a club for a second time by Ronaldo.

Posted by: Dobbo 11th July 2018, 11:54 AM

It's a fantastic deal for juve lol. They'll get that money back in absolutely no time (and it's not as if spending a lot is a problem for them after Higuain). Ronaldo looks after himself unlike most 30 somethings so has at least 3-4 more years right at the very top

Posted by: Evil Houdini 11th July 2018, 12:02 PM

Yeah I think it's a good deal for Juventus, I would have loved to see Ronaldo back at Man United. He guarantees loads of goals even if he's not as quick as he used to be, I think he is still the best goalscorer in the World at the moment and Juventus will have a fantastic chance of winning the Champions League with him in their team.

West Ham have signed Yarmolenko from Borussia Dortmund for £16.5 million.

Posted by: Mack. 11th July 2018, 01:45 PM

Borussia Dortmund have signed Achraf Hakimi from Real Madrid on loan for the next two seasons.

Fulham and Nice are in advanced talks to finalise a double deal for midfielder Jean Michael Seri and defender Maxime Le Marchand.

Posted by: Mack. 12th July 2018, 11:04 AM

Fulham have now confirmed the signing of Le Marchand and Seri from Nice in a combined deal in excess of £30m.

Posted by: Mack. 13th July 2018, 08:12 AM

West Ham look set to sign Felipe Anderson from Lazio for £35m.

Posted by: Mack. 13th July 2018, 09:31 AM

Shaqiri looking very likely that he'll leave Stoke City to join Liverpool.

Posted by: Dobbo 13th July 2018, 10:17 AM

Good player but not a top 6 player for me, questionable attitude at times too.

Posted by: Mack. 13th July 2018, 10:20 AM

Southampton have completed the signing of centre-back Jannik Vestergaard from Borussia Monchengladbach on a four-year deal for £18m.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 13th July 2018, 11:08 AM

Leeds... still haven't signed anyone. We've sold three players though.

Posted by: 5 Silas Frøkner 13th July 2018, 12:16 PM

Just seen that on my twitter feed. Think it’s a backwards step for Vestergaard, he played Champions League football with Gladbach. He’s not been very consistent for us so not overly sorry to see him leave

I'm not convinced longer term, but for £13m in this market it is a no brainer. Klopp doesn't sign players who does not want - he is good at set pieces and is going to be a fantastic option off the bench if we are chasing a game.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 14th July 2018, 09:06 AM

Liverpool are in a difficult position where they desperately need depth up front but it's quite difficult to sign a forward who's both good enough but will be happy knowing there's virtually zero chance of playing in big/important matches if their first choice front 3 are available and fit, just like Spurs have found it difficult to sign back up to Kane. I think Shaqiri is a really good signing.

Posted by: Mack. 14th July 2018, 12:29 PM

Chelsea have signed Jorginho from Napoli and Ajax have re-signed Daley Blind from Man United.

Posted by: Mack. 14th July 2018, 10:36 PM

Another signing for West Ham

Fabian Balbuena from Corinthians on three year contract.

Posted by: Mack. 15th July 2018, 09:38 AM

Yet another signing for West Ham as Felipe Anderson has joined from Lazio for £35m.

Looks that way at the moment - they need to replace Ronaldo, but I suspect that replacement will be Neymar/Mpabbe. Likelihood is they will get Hazard for £100m and Mbappe will go for a world record fee next summer.

Posted by: Mack. 17th July 2018, 02:07 PM

Newcastle apparently interested in Rondon only if Mitrovic moves to Fulham.

Posted by: Dobbo 17th July 2018, 02:23 PM

Would Neymar really go to Madrid? Would be Figo all over again (admittedly not THAT bad but still).

Hazard is a very good possibility but he's nowhere near as good as people make out. Only had 3/6 good seasons in the PL.

100% he would go to Madrid, I suspect it's partly the reason why he was advised to go to PSG. Neymar or Mpabbe will be at Real Madrid sometime soon, I suspect Hazard will be a stop gap replacement. More of a creator than a goalscorer though.

Liverpool have big a world record sum for Alisson. I'd actually be fairly confident of a title bid if we pulled this off.

Liverpool have apparently agreed a fee of about £66.8m for Roma goalkeeper Alisson.

He is a sweeper keeper and perfect for fast transitions.. obviously going to be a huge amount of pressure on him but takes the heat off of Karius to mentally recover for the rest of the year at least.

Posted by: Steve201 19th July 2018, 06:44 PM

You think Karius will stay?

Posted by: Dobbo 19th July 2018, 10:26 PM

So the record transfer for a keeper has FINALLY been broken. Bit bewildering that it has stood since 2001 given the crazy money era we've been in for some time now but seriously, if he does an Ederson & adapts to the PL straight away you'd have to say Pool are genuine challengers! Still need another CB, as if Lovren was calling himself the best defender in the world last week laugh.gif but the intentions are there!

Wish we'd hurry up with some business, in recent seasons we've got our business done nice & early. All we have is a Fred so far...

Posted by: Steve201 19th July 2018, 11:02 PM

Eder son was 53m last season so not as long as 2001 tbf but Buffons record stood for ages!!

To be fair in the 2nd half of last season Lovren was unreal, at times even better than Van Dijk. Ever since his horror show at Wembley he's become a lot better. I can't see us signing another CB, we have 5. I also think it's incredibly difficult to find the right defender for the way Klopp plays. Definitely the best squad we have now, agree that if Alisson hits the ground running we have clearly got a massive shot at the title. If only Ox was fit..

Must admit, it's strange how little Spurs and Man Utd have moved in the market so far.

Posted by: Steve201 19th July 2018, 11:07 PM

Awful for the Ox, would you get a replacement on loan??

Danny Ward is off to Leicester for 10m apparently, so that's one keeper gone!

I reckon Shaqiri will probably play the Ox role to be honest and be cover for the front 3. Think we definitely have enough players and I imagine Ojo and Woodburn will be cover for the front 3 along will Sturridge, Origi and Solanke. I think Klopp wants another wide forward still but willing to wait.

Interesting times ahead, looking forward to Keita.

Think the keeper Chelsea have signed is great, but he's not as good as Courtois right now. That's an immediate downgrade for the short term.

Loving the meltdown from Spurs and Man Utd biggrin.gif

To be fair with the centre backs you were going for, I'm not sure they would have improved you that much. Spurs is funny though.

Big question now will be how intense do Barca go to get Pogba..

Posted by: Dobbo 9th August 2018, 05:01 PM

Pogba to Barca would be terrible for both parties imo.

I'm more surprised at the fact we didn't let any of our CBs leave than signing no-one, leaves us with a pool of averageness & a seldom-fit Bailly - up to you Dave to save us once again!

And we've come to expect this from Spurs now.

Tottenham are the first Premier League club to make no signings in a summer window since it was introduced in 2003.

I’m not entirely convinced that there’s much to the Barca/Pogba stuff beyond his arsehole of an agent trying to cause trouble.

Some of the things we were linked with were sky bet manipulating stupid people into placing bets that would never happen. I’m happy we’ve not ended up with Maguire or a panic buy. I have a feeling that United will go for Alderweild in January and never had any intention of getting him now as soon as they heard about the £25m release clause that will be active then as it avoids negotiations with Levy.

We needed a RW desperately so not ideal not to get one but again better that than a panic buy. We panic bought that useless c**t Fellaini and still can’t get rid of him.

Hmm there is definitely truth to it due to the sources mentioned imo, but just depends what sort of game Barcelona want to play and how fractured the relationship between Pogba and Mourinho is. Either that or he's going to get a massive (and undeserved) new contract.

Who do you think has the best transfer window in your opinion?

Posted by: Dobbo 10th August 2018, 09:53 AM

West Ham or Fulham for me.

Posted by: Mack. 10th August 2018, 10:02 AM

I would say Fulham and Wolves for me followed by Liverpool.

Posted by: Rooney 10th August 2018, 10:29 AM

West Ham had the best window for me on paper.

Think Liverpool also had an excellent window mind with the Alisson addition.
