This seems RIGHT up my street, even if it looks horrifically cheesy.

FAKING IT Faking It is an American single-camera romantic comedy series that premiered on MTV on April 22, 2014. The series was created by Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov. Carter Covington developed the series and serves as the executive producer. An eight-episode first season was ordered by MTV in October 2013. MTV announced a ten episode second season set to premiere on September 23, 2014. in August 2014, the show won a Teen Choice Award for "Choice TV Breakout Show". In October 2014 it MTV ordered 10 more episodes to be added to the season 2 and premier date to be set later for season 2B. Season 2 of the show will have total 20 episodes. At Hester High School in the suburbs of Austin, being different is popular. After many failed attempts to stand out Karma Ashcroft (Katie Stevens) and her best friend Amy Raudenfeld (Rita Volk), are invited to a house party hosted by Shane Harvey (Michael Willett), who is under the impression that the girls are a lesbian couple. At the party they are subsequently outed as the school's first lesbian couple and unwillingly nominated for homecoming Queens. Continuing the charade as their popularity soars, Karma attracts the attention of the popular and handsome Liam Booker (Gregg Sulkin), while Amy becomes aware of her growing romantic feelings for Karma. - Wikipedia Omg this show is SO good. Anyone who is not watching it is missing out; I absolutely love it! Rita, Katie, Gregg & Matthew are all brilliant and the plot is amazing! Could be a potential challenge against friends as my favourite show EVER. (from left to right: Bailey De Young, Michael Willet, Rita Volk, Katie Stevens, Gregg Sulkin) The show starts with Amy (Volk) and Karma (Stevens) being invited to a a party hosted by Shane (Willet) after him and Liam (Sulkin) over hear Amy's stepsister Lauren (De Young) claiming that they're from "planet lesbo". The fact that they're the schools first lesbian couple causes hysteria and gains them popularity. Due to Karma's thirst for popularity, she convinces Amy to act as if they're a real lesbian couple to sustain their new status. The fact that they're lesbian gains the attention of school bad-boy Liam Booker who immediately sets his sights on Karma. In the first episode, Karma and Amy kiss to prove their relationship and that's when Amy first discovers that she has feelings for Karma. Season 1 is airing on MTV UK now while Season 2 in on in the US. Enjoy! |

YES Callum, this show is LIFE I've not watched any of season 2 yet because I'm waiting until the series is finished to watch them all in one go, but series 1 was fabulous. And Shane is perfection. <33

I'm so glad somebody else on here likes this show! Amy's definitely the better looking of the two between her and Karma (Karma reminds me of somebody I know, and not in a good way ). I may start watching series 2 then if it's getting really good |

Cancelled. Tomorrow's episode serves as the series finale. Season 3 has had pretty poor ratings sadly, but the cancellation (announced 3 days ago) still feels very abrupt!
Does Faking It count as a guilty pleasure? I've enjoyed it immensely! Very socially-progressive and deserved to be seen by a larger audience. Such a shame. Merci Faking It, for introducing me to Gregg Sulkin |

Kinda gutted about the cancellation, Faking It had so much potential and was pretty ground breaking having a mainly LGBTQ+ cast etc but they wasted too much time dragging out the same plots and no real development actually happened post season one which is what I think the problem was and why they lost viewers. It did have other negative points to it but I thought the good ones weighed them out on the whole, it's such a shame we're now deprived of seeing how Karmy ends etc

I just finished watching the finale, I thought it was a mess. They tried to throw an entire season into one episode, pairing people off in a hash-bash attempt to end things on a happy note. I'm sad that we wont get to see Liam and Lauren's romance go further, same with Noah and Shane. Carter wrote a letter to the fans to give some kind of 'closure', but for me it's only made me more frustrated to know that what I was rooting for to happen since season one would have happened if they had more time only to go backwards on it again. They had so much time to play with in season two given that it was double the length of the first, they could have made season three the 'season four' they planned to do. What gets at me the most is they basically gave Karma's intended storyline to a shitty character that's been part of the series for all of five minutes
I have a small ounce of hope that Netflix or something will pick it up and give the characters and fans the ending they deserve as there's so much potential for this show and it's such a shame to see all of that just go to waste. This post has been edited by ℒ𝓲𝓷𝓭𝓼𝒆𝔂: May 18 2016, 01:11 PM |

I agree, Sabrina's character felt very shoe-horned in.
I felt like Amy fell for people extremely easily, like anyone who showed her interest and she was in there! Although perhaps the point of this is because she was desperate to distract herself from her on-going feelings for Karma, so felt these various relationships would fix that. Shame we'll never see a proper conclusion. |
