What's caused 'Thinking Out Loud' to suddenly take off? 2nd top 10 hit and already outpeaking 'Don't', likely future #1 I should think! (Unless Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars just get there and stay for months and months).

I think it was a performance on the Victoria's Secret fashion show that boosted it digitally.

Great week for the British/Irish acts! I don't even have strong feelings about "Thinking Out Loud" but I do like seeing Ed Sheeran achieve more and more success.

"Uptown Funk!" looking like it could go number one in the next couple weeks. It's geting a huge digital boost right now as it was performed on The Voice finale, and radio and streaming only seem to be going up.

Also, "Style" is looking like Taylor's next single, according to Billboard! Really happy about that. biggrin.gif

Ooooh!!!! I would love Style to be her next single!!!! I am hoping I Wish You Would and New Romantics are given chances, but I think they are more likely to go with Out of the Woods or Welcome to New York after Style. Impressed that Love Me Harder gets another week and it looks like Lips Are Movin might not reach number one as Uptown Funk is growing faster than LAM, at this stage.

YAY if 'Style' is the next single, such an excellent pop song. If both that and 'Out Of The Woods' can be given full single treatment I will be a very happy bunny.

I'm actually not sure what the next US #1 will be (for a change, it's usually obvious weeks in advance laugh.gif). Could be any of Hozier, Mark Ronson or Ed Sheeran.

Any of those 3 and the long drought of British/Irish chart toppers in America would finally be over!

Also excited to see Charli making the Hot 100 for Break The Rules. I think Blank Space will have two more weeks at number one and then there might be a new number one. Taylor is still topping airplay and YouTube streaming, while she fell to number 3 on iTunes now.

I see 'Steal My Girl' never really recovered, dropping rapidly again now... is 'Night Changes' actually being properly pushed or is it just like 'You & I' where it's charting due to having a video etc. while not actually being a US single? Because that doesn't seem to be doing much either. Shame as they're actually good songs for once from 1D.

With the release of Sucker this week, it is very possible that she will chart higher.

'Night Changes' is being properly pushed (and in fact they just performed it on Saturday Night Live). Nearly top 20 on pop airplay already! Top 20 is where all their singles stall except for their two properly big US hits.

That is a pretty fresh top 5! 'Blank Space' has been top 5 the longest out of those, only five weeks!

It's not a long drought at all, actually Charli XCX was at number 1 just 3 months ago with 'Fancy' with Iggy Azalea...

They actually have 4 US top 10 hits 'What makes u beautiful', 'Live while we're young', 'Best song ever' and 'Story of my life', and many top 15 hits...so their US career is quite successful so far...

I'd consider them successful when they get a US #1 single. Otherwise I find their US moderately successful. And upfront.

I don't think whether they get a US #1 single or not determines their success at all, fair enough they've only had two 'big' hits to their name and a few high chart positions but their album sales, tours and general presence/status proves they're an unstoppable phenomenon over there and that is indisputable.
