This seems to have come and gone rather quickly! If the film was a human being, it would be a hyperactive 5-year-old, all over the place, full of energy, abruptly changing attention, and distracted by an endless visual series of distractions. Chris Hemsworth & Tessa Thompson work together well and are engaging and light-hearted, not surprising after Thor & Valkyrie familiarity, and are by far the best things in it.
There are good scenes, some good one-liners. But. The script is a mess, it just can't focus on structure and plot properly, from what I hear they were changing scenes by the day, so that fits. I liked the should-be-annoying Pawnee CGI alien, and Rafe's support, but I didn't like the ongoing shoulder-shrugging that death is comical, even aliens. I also got annoyed by the abandonment of the MIB internal logic that they always memory-wipe any alien activity, and just let spaceships, aliens and assorted activity go on as people walk about nonchalantly as if it's an everyday occurrence. 5/10 |
