Calvin Harris secures first #1 single as a lead artist

Hard to believe yes, but Calvin's chart history has been lacking a big something - a #1 single that isn't a feature. He previously made #1 with his remix of Florence + The Machine's 'Spectrum (Say My Name)' as well as Cheryl's 'Call My Name' on which he was the featured artist (unofficially, but for the purposes of his chart history here it counts).

He's had a number of #2 hits though, 'Bounce', 'We Found Love', 'Sweet Nothing', 'Thinking About You' and 'How Deep Is Your Love' all peaked there. The most recent of those, HDIYL, was unlucky to run into Avicii's mammoth run at the top with 'Waiting For Love' - which spent its 10th consecutive week at #1 to deny Calvin the chart topper.

With no big Avicii song to run into now, and with Rihanna also in the mix, Calvin easily takes this week's #1. As for Rihanna, she hasn't had a #1 here since 2012's 'Princess of China'. Call it a comeback if you want, but both artists haven't really gone away in my chart.

All this means SeeB are unlucky enough to spend a fourth non-consecutive week at #2 with 'Breathe'. They finally overtake Maceo Plex this week, who slips to #3, but are denied #1 by the combined selling power of Calvin and Rihanna.

Galantis climb to #4 with 'No Money'. It is their first top 5 hit in this chart. Completing the top 5 is TheFatRat who falls 2 places. New peaks in the top 10 are for Gorgon City (10-8) and Flume (13-9), the latter in doing so getting his highest peaking single to date - overtaking 2013's #10 hit 'Insane'. Mickey re-enters the top 10 to enjoy his 7th week there.

Katy B keeps the #1 album this week, mostly because of Drake's album not being on Spotify yet so I haven't listened to it. Her single 'I Wanna Be' climbs five places to #11. Also peaking in the top 20 are Disciples & David Guetta (21-13), Drake (17-14), Margaret (18-16) and most notably Campsite Dream who jump a massive 49 places to #17 with 'Don't Worry'. It follows up #16 hit 'Crush'.

Petite Meller enters the top 25 with 'Lil Love'. It is the first time she's entered this region of the chart following her #50 hit 'Baby Love' (love seems to be a theme with her songs).

AlunaGeorge entered at #31 2 weeks ago with 'I Remember'. They better that peak by a single position this week as the song climbs 7 places to #30. Just outside the top 30 are climbers from Cheat Codes, Gryffin and Platinum Doug who all enter the top 40 for the first time. Entering the top 50 for the first time are the new songs from Matoma and Boehm at positions 47-48 respectively.

The highest new entry this week is of course this week's #1. After that, it is the new song by Zedd with vocals from Kesha which makes the biggest impact of the brand new entries. It enters at #60.
