Lithuania kicked off their selection last weekend but the very likely winner of it has dropped this morning

I do like, still don't entirely get the fuss about them but after two listens I think I'm finding it more instant and catchier than "On Fire".

I may be in the minority here but I’m quite underwhelmed by this. I mean it should be a safe qualifier but compared to On Fire it pales and feels a bit forced? The song isn’t much without the video whereas OF was quite a good standalone tune.

I guess to sum it up:

There's less than a 0% chance the Roop aren't winning this selection (lol watch me be wrong), I think this is a good entry from them and will age less poorly than On Fire.

I loved 'On Fire', but I'm not enjoying this one as much atm - hopefully it's a grower

It doesn't have the same instant instrumental earworm hook as On Fire, and I doubt it has as much commercial potential outside the contest as that, but it's pretty good and I expect it should still be comfortably Lithuania's biggest hit for a long time.

The repeated 'dance alone' bit reminds me of the repeated 'coming on' in the Ed Case/Sweetie Irie Remix of Gorillaz' Clint Eastwood.

Personally I find this better than On Fire because On Fire is not melodically interesting and is pretty repetitive as it repeats the chorus 4 times. Discoteque is more elaborate with a very strong instrumental drop and a catchy syncopation pattern throughout. The only criticism on Discoteque would be that the last chorus lacks variety which stops it from being a really good song.

Opposite for me. I find very little melody in this where as there was loads in On Fire.

I listened to The Roop's 2017 debut album today, a bit more indie-rock based than their Eurovision songs but really good! 'Hello' in particular is a banger
