10th. Take a Bow = 35 Points



Welcome to Round 7 of Madonna's 'GHV2' survivor poll, and after taking a break from the usual poll in the last round, they're back from now on. The final 10 songs were ranked by points and 11 of you voted and the 6th song to drop out is 'Take A Bow', which received just 35 points out of a possible 110, and not faring quite as well as it did in the 'STR' poll where it finished in 5th place then, this time it finishes in an okay 10th place, so still managing a top 10 placing. This comes as somewhat as a surprise considering it didn't receive a single vote in any of the previous rounds, and maybe if I kept to the polls then maybe this would have lasted longer, but considering the quality of songs that's in this competition, then something had to go. Out of the 11 votes this did manage to gain one 10, but all the other scores were in the bottom 5 (mainly 1's and 2's), and this also means that we've lost the 3rd of 4 'BS' era singles, leaving only the lead single left in the running.

As for the other results, the scores were pretty spread out with 'Frozen', gaining the most points with a whopping 85, and gained the most 10's (4 of them), so it is immune from voting for this round only. 'Ray of Light' & 'Don't Tell Me', also fared well gaining 82 and 81 points respectively, the latter was in the lead for the most part, but the last 3 scores of 6 saw it drop to third place.

I suppose the 'BS' album is quite a bit of a mixed bag for die-hard Madonna fans alike, by choosing to tone down her image and opt for a more R&B New Jack Swing sound, But the picture became so clear with Bedtime's final chapter, the heartfelt, sad and beautiful #1 hit ballad Take a Bow. As the Shakespearian lyrics described, Madonna was not saying goodbye to a broken relationship and a fractured romance as much as she was saying goodbye to her former life and self. It became clear that Madonna was at a turning point in her life and her heartfelt voice suddenly had become a beautiful instrument sung with raw emotion and tender sadness.
