GRANADA (Translation) Granada, land that I dream of, My singing becomes Gypsy when it is for you, My singing, echo of fantasy, My singing, flower of melancholy, That I come to give you. Granada, land bloodied in afternoons of bullfights, Woman that conserves the enchantment of Moorish eyes, I dream of you as rebellious and Gypsy, covered with flowers, And I kiss your carmine mouth, juicy apple That speaks to me of love. Granada, Spanish lady, sung in precious couplets, I have nothing to give you but a bouquet of roses, Of roses of delicate fragrance that form a setting For the dark maiden. Granada, your land is full Of beautiful women, of blood and of sun. Granada is a song in praise of the city of Granada, which is personified as a dark, beautiful Gypsy lady. Edited. does this seem better? Now we can all singalongaDarius ! |

An interesting comment to THIS, found by BT
QUOTE RahereofSmithfield 5 Feb 2010, 11:16PM I'm not so concerned about Rolando Hill - that's as old history as the Penny Black. What you should be doing is looking beyond the image of the channel and get excited by Darius Campbell as a classical singer in the orthodox mould. I was trained in the same school - literally - as one of the other judges, Llewellyn Bowen, in the days when there were just three of us singing male voices in the choir. One is a top conductor, one a Guildhall voice teacher, and me, I'm nothing. But it does entitle me to suggest that with just one qualification - stamina - Darius' voice is in its own right alone as exciting a discovery as was Kathleen Battle. Let him loose against Bryn and we'll see fur fly! That he'll have problems stopping the females screaming does no harm - and his height gives him troubleless bass notes, a natural organ pipe from the bottom of his feet to the roof of his mouth. The only question is that at the moment, he's being given pop-length pieces a mere three minutes long to sing. He should be able to do more - it would be interesting to see him try. An interesting second place will go to Marcella Detroit, who still has to master the cracks in her voice a bus could drive through, but then again, these shows are about learning - if she had made her eyes up in the Horus pattern singing The Queen of the Night, she could have turned the role into something memorably hermetic. For the rest, a better demonstration of why commercial pop music is dying could hardly be sought - no voice, no support, no pitch, no stability, cannon fodder. |

Hahahaha!! |
