With the news that 'Call Me Maybe' by Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen has been put on Radio 1's C-List, it's time to start a prediction thread! biggrin.gif

It will be released in the UK on the 22nd of April after being removed from iTunes after charting at #130 on hype alone! But with hopefully good airplay on both radio and TV, where do you think 'Call Me Maybe' will chart, and where do you want it to chart?

Predict: #1

Want: It's not my favourite song ever but I'd say #1 too, because hopefully it going to #1 will show radio playlisters that there's still a huge market for pure inoffensive pop, even from artists that are likely to become one hit wonders. And then the Scandipop revival can start!

For me, I really hope Carly can get #1 with this amazing song!!! I think it's got a good chance of getting there too as long as there is decent airplay plus she has support from Bieber she seems to be getting! This song should become a summer anthem! biggrin.gif

I'm a sucker for pure pop, but this is bad.
"Inoffensive" doesn't mean it has to be so flat and boring...

Maybe it will grow on me, but meh.

If Carly Rae Jepson does get to #1 then no doubt Ryan will get that BJSC feeling that I got when Gotye climbed to the top of the UK charts. biggrin.gif

I predict #1 for this track anyways. There must be a reason why they removed this from UK iTunes considering it was added around November 2011. So that, added with the fact it's getting a lot of video airplay and now Radio 1 support, it bodes well for the songs success.

Predict = #1

Want = I like this quite a bit actually and its been steadily rising up my chart thanks to its inclusion in BJSC. I'd therefore say top 5 personally (don't love it like I do Gotye's track) but I'm sure this is going to be a big hit.

Haha laugh.gif I was getting excited when she climbed into the top 50 on iTunes before it was deleted. If she got #1 I'd cry with excitement I think! tongue.gif w00t.gif

Number 1 for both.

It's surely going to be EVERYWHERE (it's already getting loadsof attention) by the time the release comes, and it's smashed in Australia, Ireland, Canada and the US, so the UK have to naturally follow tongue.gif I do really like it too, to think she only came 3rd in her year of Canadian Idol and she's the only act AFAIK to have even minor success anywhere bar Canada, let alone a massive hit like this!

Like Rich said, also to show radio there is a gap for this joyous pure pop, so artists like Tone Damli can get a break which fingers crossed eventually leads to a revival of Scandipop wub.gif Look Back by Tone Damli would surely be big if pushed anyway.

Want it to be #1.

I'm not certain it will get to #1 but top 5 (or rather top 3) at least. After being playlisted I think it's going to be big if it manages #1 or not.

Wasn't Alyssa Reid from Canadian Idol as well? (And she only came 6th laugh.gif)

I've predicted top 5 for this, it does have a good chance at #1 but loads of songs that seemed like certain #1s have missed out recently so with this being held back it could suffer and peak at #2 or 3. (I'll still technically be right even if it does go to #1 anyway though, so tongue.gif)

I said I want top 40, it's okay but no more than that.

No tongue.gif she was on some awful cheap rip-off for younger singers called 'The Next Star' or something when she was about 12 and came 6th laugh.gif But yeah I guess that is probably more impressive that managed to get to the UK, but CMM is a HUGE hit worldwide.

I'd say #1 unless there's something bigger around at the time to stop it.

I really like this, but can't see it making the UK Top 10 I'm afraid

I wouldn't be surprised at number 1, but I think top 5 is more likely, I can see it being a big seller but maybe one that never quite gets to number 1 (unless its a quiet release time of course)

I would much rather it went top 40 and that's it - way to sickly sweet and bland for me, and her face alone in that video is irritating pirate.gif

My Tone Damli radar brought me here!

I think Carly Rae will do rather well. It's a delightful little pop song.

I also have the same hope as Rich and Liam that this doing very well could lead to a Scandi Invastion lead by the GLORIOUS Tone Damli. (If you haven't heard her, youtube 'Look Back' and 'Butterflies' NOW)

I predicted T40/#1, as, much as I like it, it doesn't seem like something that the teen-dominated singles market will go for.

Surprised some people think that it won't go top ten.

It's hyped to the high heavens, has gone top 50 already on iTunes with no support before being removed, has been #1 on the iTunes video chart for ages, has Radio 1 backing, is being hammered on the music channels, is instant and and catchy and is being held back to maximise impact. What more does it need?

Quote me on this if you like because this is how certain I am that it's going to smash. If it fails to go top five in the UK I'll upload a cover of myself singing it on Youtube and post the link in this thread biggrin.gif

This and Let's Go are going to rule the charts over spring and early summer in my opinion and I can't wait biggrin.gif
